Diversifying the Field of Dietetics with Deanna Belleny Lewis

This podcast episode is so inspirational to me.

I have followed along as Diversify Dietetics has grown in the past few years, and it is so amazing to see this organization solve problems every single day that no other organization was able to do before them.

We also talk about the grassroots foundation of Diversify Dietetics. These women have poured everything they have into this organization because they believe in the mission so strongly, and that is so inspiring to me as a business owner.

How a Virtual Assistant Can Help You Grow Your Private Practice with Annie Davis

I interviewed my Virtual Assistant, Annie Davis, for this fun episode.

Annie is very much an organized creative, which can be a rare find! She is very creative and artistic and has a love for art, but she is also super organized, which is something I don’t feel like I have anymore within my businesses. Annie helps keep things running so smoothly over here.

We also give you a glimpse into some of the tasks that a Virtual Assistant can do for your business. So please use this episode as inspiration for coming up with your own list of tasks that you could outsource to a Virtual Assistant, if that’s the next right move for you!

Some of the topics discussed include:

    • Hiring a Virtual Assistant
    • The tasks that Annie takes on at Pursuing Private Practice and Eat With Knowledge
    • The systems we use to keep everything organized and smooth

The Intersection of Culture and Intuitive Eating with Dalina Soto

The Intersection of Culture and Intuitive Eating with Dalina Soto

As non-diet dietitians, we are already immersing ourselves into more inclusive spaces, especially when it comes to body positivity and Health at Every Size. We really try to honor our clients exactly where they are at in their relationships with food, movement, and their bodies.

However, I do think that we sometimes forget to take into account the cultural aspect of these relationships.

Dalina Soto saw this problem. She wanted to make the intuitive eating movement accessible to the latina community. She has built her business by talking about how important culture really is when we are talking about food choices in the weight-inclusive space.

Some of the topics discussed include:

    • How culture intersects with our food choices
    • Identifying a problem and solving it in your business
    • Creating an offer that is specific to your audience

What to Do When Your Private Practice is Booked Out with Amie Guice

What to Do When Your Private Practice is Booked Out with Amie Guice

I absolutely loved this raw and honest conversation with Amie Guice.

We talk about what it means to be “full,” or booked out, as a private practice dietitian. This means different things to all of us depending on our life situation and goals, and we discuss those different factors in this episode. Only you can decide when you’re booked out.

We also talk about what to do next when you do reach that place. This is actually a pretty common occurrence in private practice — once you’ve been in practice for a while, you will often reach the point where you don’t have enough time to take on all of the clients who need support! Amie and I talk through what we both did when we reached that point, and I hope this conversation will give you some ideas of what you could do next.

Some of the topics discussed include:

    • Amie’s private practice journey, from “side hustle” to having a full client load
    • How to know when you’re calendar is full
    • Working “in” your business vs. working “on” your business
    • Utilizing a “parking lot” as your business grows

In one year, so much has changed for Tamara in terms of her businesses and her entrepreneurial journey. She has a lot going on, and she’s very transparent about how 2020 affected her. She also shares how both of her businesses came to be.

2020 was a big year for Tamara, but I know that she has big things ahead too! She is making such a positive difference with her clients and other dietitians, and I’m so excited to see what’s in store for her in the near future.

    • Having a business vs. Having a brand
    • Transitioning a business to be in alignment with your dreams and goals
    • Serving black women
