In this episode, we note that on this day in Jewish history three of the ten martyrs who are commemorated in special Yom Kippur prayers were killed. We explore the idea of righteous martyrdom in the context of Jewish law, which usually forbids destroying human life and preserving it at all costs. However, Jewish law finds that a Jew must sacrifice his or her life rather than succumb to idolatry, sexual sin or murder. So, it seems that Jewish abortionists who commit murder in the form of abortion have a reckoning to face at some point.

Events in Jewish history lists include the most impactful happenings in the chronicled development of Judaism. The absence of legal abortion legislation in Israel on these lists needs to be rectified because the Jewish lives lost to legal abortion in Israel has and continues to have a huge impact on the demographic, social, financial and spiritual evolution of Jewish culture and religion.

We turn to a 1977 archived story in the NYT reporting on the legalization of abortion in Israel. It describes a society already deeply steeped in the death culture, which explains in part the current lack of interest in Israeli society and politics to address the issue.

In this episode we focus on the challenges of educating Jewish abortion advocates. We share a dvar Torah on B'ha'a'lot'cha from Rabbi Ephraim Buchwald about educating Jews who have little understanding or knowledge about Judaism. Rabbi Buchwald explains that outreach efforts work best if teachers promote a process of slow, meaningful change and an appreciation of Judaism rather than a dramatic shift to orthodoxy. 

The educational efforts at the Jewish Pro-Life Foundation are an alternative Jewish educational resource that teaches respect for life in the womb, something that is missing from mainstream Jewish educational curriculum, which focuses on ritual observance rather than Torah principles that conflict with the majority of Jewish woke culture, from whom many Jewish institutions rely on for membership dues and donations.

In this episode, we share beautiful life affirming messages from two righteous rabbis who provide Torah based arguments against the utilitarian approach to medicine taken by the UK National Health Service. They are quoted in a story about NHS providers' cost cutting measures in the time of Covid, forcing parents to withdraw life saving medical care from their children, as well as increased pressure to withdraw life saving medical care from their elderly parents. 

Rabbi Moshe Avraham Halperin from the Science and Technology Torah Law Institute says, "Life is holy, the holiest thing in the world, because it is through life that we serve God. Therefore, no person can be the master over life; not his own and certainly not someone else’s. Life belongs to God and He is the only one who decides over when it begins and when it ends."

Rabbi Yosef Berger, rabbi of King David’s Tomb on Mount Zion says,  “The purpose of life is to praise God. Anything that lessens life, reduces God’s praises and delays the Redemption. Sacrificing the children and elderly in the name of survival is a trait of the godless and doing so certainly delays the Redemption.

Regrettably, the majority of Jews remains uninformed of the life affirming principles upon which Judaism is based, believing that abortion and euthanasia are human rights. This episode examines the use of RU-486, otherwise known as chemical abortion branded as Early Options. Chemical abortion is used to kill human beings in the womb in the first trimester of life. It is promoted as safe and relatively painless compared to surgical abortion. In reality, chemical abortion is dangerous. frightening, and extremely painful. The use of RU-486 is now used for 40% of all abortions due to the lifting of FDA safety guidelines due to telemedicine distribution of the drug during Covid restrictions, and the fact that chemical abortion lowers clinic overhead costs.

In this episode, we look back to the Jewish leaders who opposed legalizing abortion and fought to preserve life against the growing anti-life political movement. When the pro-life movement was forming in the 1970s, Jewish leaders in New York and Chicago spoke out publicly for life. As late as 1980, Jews were still leading the right to life cause. They didn't stay silent, as so many of us do now. We can emulate these righteous Jews by speaking out for life in our circles of influence. We study Power Point slide # 91 Jews Against The Abortion Industry, and slide #93  What Does Atty Rosenblum Say? Foundational to our pro-life cause and opposition to the abortion industry can be found in Exodus 23:7, "Distance yourself from a false matter and do not kill a truly innocent person." The abortion industry is built on lies and the destruction of innocent life for profit and eugenics purposes. Jews who fall prey to death culture propaganda and who realize the gravity and tragedy of their mistake can be redeemed by our forgiving tradition of Teshuvah. We close with the meditation on the Omer count for the 17th day, a prayer to solve problems with a God centered, faithful approach that supports life for every human person. Aired 4/26/20.
