If there's any magic in this world, it's in the space between Mark and a great movie as he tries to figure out what makes Before Sunrise so romantic, how the film is a masterpiece of understated structure, and why nobody has described the brilliance of Richard Linklater better than Richard Linklater describing the brilliance of Eric Rohmer.

YNFA 015: The Three Musketeers, or A Confederacy of Dumases

Fluff out your hair extensions and swash your buckles as we ride off with Disney’s 1993 schlocktacular The Three Musketeers. Which is more historically inaccurate, this movie or your average Renaissance Faire? Who buttered your biscuit more, Keifer Sutherland or Chris O’Donnell?  Is the only good thing to come out of this Tim Curry's cape twirling and another killer rock ballad by Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart and Sting? And can the next remake please just star all the great Hollywood Chrises, aka The Three Chriskateers? We might get some answers if we weren’t equal parts disappointed and offended by the mediocrity of this whole production.

'Mind Game' and Bad Movie Accents

This week’s episode is a unique one. During the MaxFunDrive we had a stretch goal that stated that if we reached 250 new and upgrading members, one lucky member would get to choose the movie we discuss on an episode. Since we reached our stretch goal, we randomly selected a member, and that person turned out to be the wonderful Merrell! The movie they chose for us to discuss is 2004’s Mind Game. And boy is it a trip! We also answer a question from our hotline about bad movie accents. And, as always, we’ve got ‘Staff Picks.’

In news, Julie Delpy is fed up, Steven Spielberg makes a deal with Netflix, and Vin Diesel takes credit for Dwayne Johnson’s Fast and Furious performances.

BEFORE SUNRISE + BEFORE SUNSET + BEFORE MIDNIGHT (feat. Amanda Ball)

BEFORE SUNRISE + BEFORE SUNSET + BEFORE MIDNIGHT (feat. Amanda Ball)

Happy Valentine's Day to all the lovers out there! On this special, extra isolated fake holiday, Aya and Kevin are joined by Merry-Go-Round Magazine contributor Amanda Ball to discuss one of the most highly esteemed film trilogies ever made: THE BEFORE TRILOGY.  Three feature-length films of some of the purest love ever depicted in cinema – and probably what inspired that one weirdo on the Metro to try and ask you about what book you were reading. It's the most films ever discussed on a mainline episode, and, as it turns out, these movies that can be distilled down into "two people talk for like 90 minutes" are actually some of the densest films the duo has ever faced off against.

Just how annoying is Jesse in BEFORE SUNRISE? Is BEFORE SUNSET like TWIN PEAKS: THE RETURN? At the end of almost two decades of projecting onto them, do we really want Celine and Jesse to fight BEFORE MIDNIGHT? Most importantly, why do the French suck ass?

Eryk's Movie Club Ep. 4 Before Sunrise

Instead of wasting time scrolling through your favourite streaming service deciding what to watch, let me help you out. This week my recommendation is one of my all time favourites! Richard Linklater's Before Sunrise.  In this episode I'll tell you why I think you should check out this great movie and I'll discuss where it ranks among the best movies with time restraints. In other words, movies that take place within one day or one night, etc. Also, info about the upcoming John Wick movies in movie news.

    Linklater’s ‘Before’ Trilogy (Part I)

Marlowe and Eve discuss the ins and outs of Richard Linklater's 'Before' trilogy. Part I focuses on the first two films, Before Sunrise ('95) and Before Sunset ('04). Are you in it for the romance or are you just another cynic?
