    Overcoming the Need to Justify

    Overcoming the Need to Justify

This episode is all about justification, and why as humans we feel the need to justify our actions and words constantly. Over the years, I have learned that there are times where justification can enhance connection and vulnerability, however there are many times where justification can leave us feeling weak and regretful.

Sometimes we use justification as a form of self sabotage when it comes to achieving our goals - this is why it is so important to actually identify when you are justifying and why. It’s an important part of your self development journey, as it can have a flow on effect in regards to how you value yourself, which has a direct impact on your manifestations.

In this episode we also chat about identifying people in your life who may manipulate you into feeling the need to justify and over share for their benefit only. Saying no without feeling guilty or the need to justify is powerful - however in some situations, I believe a little bit of justification is needed out of respect. I chat openly about all of this in today’s episode! Hope you enjoy.

    131: Ending the Threat, Reasonably

    131: Ending the Threat, Reasonably

Sometimes bad training passes down information that might once have been good, but garbles it. Take “Shooting to Stop the Threat”…please. This episode sees Mike and Jim discuss the nuances of using lethal force to reasonably end the capacity of an assailant to harm you. What exactly is incapacitation? What’s the difference between “shoot to kill” and to “stop”? Is intent magical? Listen to find out.

Incapacitating a threat by means of lethal force requires certain factors to be met in order to be considered reasonable, and it’s not a blank check. In the laws of war, there’s a difference between sailors boarding a small boat from a sinking ship because they’re out of the fight and marines climbing into small landing craft to get into the fight. In civilian self defense, each shot needs to be defensible, and that means reasonably explainable.

    S-4-#17 Sacred Self

    S-4-#17 Sacred Self

Our culture is consumed with “self”.  The golden rule ‘treat others the way you want to be treated”  applies to the relationship between a parent and child.  When “self” gets in the way it hinders our ability to “treat others the way you want to be treated” because you can't see past your”self. It's so easy for a parent to become patient, however there is always hope.

After Mar-a-Lago Raid, Concerns Grow of a Patriot ‘Trap’; CDC Ends Key Pandemic Rules

After Mar-a-Lago Raid, Concerns Grow of a Patriot ‘Trap’; CDC Ends Key Pandemic Rules

After the FBI raided former President Donald Trump’s home at Mar-a-Lago under allegations he was holding classified documents, public calls for investigations or even the abolition of the FBI are growing. Amidst this, however, a separate concern is growing that this anger could work as a “trap,” and that it could be used to justify increased surveillance or persecution against Americans under a broadening definition of “domestic terrorism.”

Meanwhile, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) declared an end to key COVID-19 recommendations, including on quarantine, screenings, and vaccinations. The announcement quickly followed the Mar-a-Lago raid.

Rescuing Romans - Justification is Enough
Righteousness and Justification. You can't get much bigger in heavyweight theological themes in Romans. For most Christians, to even mention these subjects is to induce a catatonic state. How can some of Paul's favourite themes be rescued from irrelevancy? In this talk, we bring together Paul's first century Roman context with some important observations made by David Zahl in his recent book, Seculosity.

    Justification - Bill Seale

    Justification - Bill Seale

Anyone who is familiar with the Bible at all will discover almost immediately that mankind has a problem. God makes this very clear from beginning to end. We are broken and damaged - unable to meet up to our own standards, let alone the standards of God. And since God hates sin, since no sin can enter into His presence, that leaves us with a very serious problem indeed. Is it possible to have our guilty record made clean? From start to finish? Is it really possible to have ALL our sins forgiven? A clean slate, as it were? Yes! It's called justification - and it's the topic of today's broadcast.

    Justify Your Existence

    Justify Your Existence

If someone challenged you to justify your existence, what would your answer be?  What does it mean to justify your existence; how would you determine whether or not your existence is justifiable?  Should you be concerned about justifying your existence?

In this episode we'll consider the answer to these questions.  Let's being with a definition.  Justification in the context of this discussion is...To prove or demonstrate that you bring value to the world (or to those in power) and that there is a positive return on your consumption of resources.  Another definition could be...To prove or demonstrate that your presence in life validates an expectation of your value.

This is actually a good exercise for you to contemplate because in doing so you can put the meaning of your life into focus.  Without meaning, your life has no direction; no clear purpose.

Join me as we consider the question of whether or not you can justify your existence in this world.  You'll be better for it in the end.

Episode 138: Justification and analytical mind space especially in relation to blacklivesmatter

Episode 138: Justification and analytical mind space especially in relation to blacklivesmatter
One real and one imaginary conversation thining about how we have switched off our feeling way of processing the world - the implications of this especially when it comes to justifying behaviours. Are we using justify to understand or to excuse? The differences in the reasons we look for root causes of behaviours.

    SHOULD TERRORISTS BE FORGIVEN?

    SHOULD TERRORISTS BE FORGIVEN?
A homework assignment, asking kids to write a response to the
point of view that 'all terrorists should be forgiven', has caused
an uprising by their parents and social media! Indeed, the first
reaction is to be appalled at the very idea of forgiveness in
light of the countless terror attacks that have been causing
    death, destruction and despair worldwide.

But, is the answer so black and white? There are instances of
people becoming vulnerable to terrorists’ influence because of
traumatic personal experiences they’ve had-does this justify
forgiveness? Can we forgive them if they’ve only donated a little
money to a terrorist cause, but not if they actually hurt someone?

Dr. Carole delves into these gray areas by comparing a lovelorn
beauty queen who supported her terrorist love interest by
sending him money over the internet with the London Bridge
terrorist who pretended to be de-radicalized until he went on a
    lethal attack.
