With the Grace of a Gazelle (Royals Series Recap, 7/3-7/5)

For the first time since the first of the season, the Minnesota Twins complete a three-game sweep of an opponent, and again it is the Kansas City Royals. And while the quality of the opponent may not have been what it has, David and Dan find plenty to praise, from Pablo Lopez's complete-game shutout to the offensive awakening in the first two games of the series. Dan is fascinated by the ongoing details of the players-only meeting in Atlanta, while David has dramatically changed his tune about the play of Max Kepler. Begrudgingly, Dan praises Rocco Baldelli for his lineup and pinch-hitting choices, while David asks the important questions, like which Hogwarts house his co-host would fit into best. They look around the league and then make their picks for the Orioles series, which will send the Twins into the All-Star break. Thanks for listening, and go Twins!

Baseball and BBQ Episode #122: Mitch Benjamin, pitmaster, restaurateur, and cookbook author and Brett Mandel from the company, Baseball BBQ with a big announcement

Episode #122 features Mitch Benjamin, pitmaster, restaurateur, and cookbook author and Brett Mandel from the company, Baseball BBQ with a big announcement.  We refer to them as "perfect guests" as they talk about baseball and barbecue.

Mitch Benjamin got his dream job after college, working for the TaylorMade golf company in Kansas City, where he met Baseball Hall of Famer, George Brett while also discovering his love of barbecue and honing his outstanding pitmaster skills.  There are numerous stories along the way, but eventually all of this lead to Mitch becoming known as Meat Mitch, and that is just the beginning.  In addition to his barbecue competition wins, Mitch has wonderful stories to tell of the time he had his food, specifically ribs, devoured by former MLB player, John Kruk as well as cooking for Derek Jeter's retirement celebration.  He recently opened the restaurant, Meat Mitch BBQ and has an outstanding selection of Meat Mitch products, including rubs and sauces at https://meatmitch.com/  In addition to all of that, Mitch somehow found the time to write the cookbook, BBQ Revolution:  Innovative Barbecue Recipes from an All-Star Pitmaster with the foreword written by his good friend George Brett who refers to him as Mitchie.

Brett Mandel from the company, Baseball BBQ, https://baseballbbq.com/ is back to tell us about new merchandise and additional exciting big news that customers will love as they can now do even more with personalizing their grilling tools.  This is a fantastic company which we constantly rave about and continues growing and amassing amazing reviews.  They share our love for baseball and barbecue and are extremely supportive of the show.  Visit their website and purchase their products, which will surely become the center of attention at your next barbecue.

We recommend you go to Fifth & Cherry, https://fifthandcherry.com for wonderful cutting boards, the Pandemic Baseball Book Club, https://www.pbbclub.com  to find many of the wonderful books we have featured as well as some additional swag, and BBQ Buddha, https://bbqbuddha.com/ for rubs and award-winning sauces

We conclude the show with the song, "Baseball Always Brings You Home" from the musician, Dave Dresser and the poet, Shel Krakofsky.

We truly appreciate our listeners and hope that all of you are staying safe.
