Desert Angels, Inc., is a faith ministry, a strictly volunteer organization, funded totally by donations. The ministry began in October 2001, when Louise's friend had a son serving in the US Air Force was deployed in the very primitive conditions of the very HOT desert. Louise gathered some young adults from her church to make boxes and write letters for her friend's son. Her heart was not not only to minister to the troops, but also provide an opportunity for anyone who desires to help a way to show compassion through donating time or items, to prepare these special boxes for our military. Louise continued to host regular "Packing Parties" every month. Twenty years later, Desert Angels, Inc., has sent tens of thousands of these boxes overseas. They contain a variety of items, including socks, pocket foods, letters from home and "a whole lot of love." Each box also includes a "Prayer Cloth," "Pocket Flag," reminding our Troops, we are praying for them. She believes when we do this, we show our Troops they are not forgotten by our deeds, not just our words. Changing our world, one box at a time ~ Making a difference! The care packages that are sent are called "Miracle Boxes" in honor of PFC Joseph A. Miracle, a Michigan Soldier who gave his life defending his unit.
