It was originally built as a party haven for the wealthy but like many things during the Great Depression, the Manor turned into a resort for the public. While many people stay at the manor it is not unknown that it is haunted. Listen this week as we talk about the main haunt of Montauk Manor named The Chief.

Haunted Mansion (2023) - Secondhand Embarrassment

Haunted Mansion (2023) - Secondhand Embarrassment

    PARTY PLEASER:

Melvin's sister Shirleon joins him on a journey through Disney's latest attempt at making a Haunted Mansion movie. While summarizing Haunted Mansion (2023), the two commentate on what makes this Summer Not-buster awkwardly divisive.

    Topics:

    • (PATREON EXCLUSIVE) 30-minutes discussing neat trivia about various Haunted Mansion rides across the globe, their inception, and Shirleon Sharron's mini-review of the 2003 Eddie Murphy The Haunted Mansion film (PATREON EXCLUSIVE)
    • Haunted Mansion carries an intense artificiality to it, showcasing nonstop digital effects, weird coloring, cartoonish ghouls, and so much else. It removes a tactile nature from every setting and replaces it with a glossy, plastic sheen.
    • There isn't much threat or motivation for the villain's in the movie. Sure, there are reasons characters are doing things insofar as having a ghost around might be a nuisance, but when everything is played like a joke, virtually everything becomes narratively worthless.
    • After about 20 minutes the non-stop usage of the Haunted Mansion's excellent melody converted an otherwise brilliant tune into a complete irritant. Melvin couldn't stand it and yet he still had an hour and a half to go.
    • For Shirleon, this rendition of The Haunted Mansion on film actually captured the atmosphere of the rides. Melvin prefers the 2003 one.
    • Harriette as a character really grew on Shirleon, and in general she really enjoyed all of the characters in their own way.
    • By the end of the movie neither Shirleon nor Melvin had taken any notes; there simply wasn't much to write about with regards to the empty plotline.

Crafting Cocktails & A Career with Danny Clayton

Crafting Cocktails & A Career with Danny Clayton

    🎙️ Exciting News! 🎉

I am thrilled to announce the release of our latest podcast episode, filled with insightful conversations and valuable takeaways! In this episode, we dive deep into the topic of personal growth and finding fulfillment in both our personal and professional lives. Here are three key takeaways from this thought-provoking discussion:

1️⃣ Focus on what truly brings you joy: One of the guests on our show shared their experience of being overly stressed and consumed by trying different avenues to achieve success. They realized that it's essential to take a step back, calm down, and prioritize enjoying the journey. By finding something you love and providing value to others, success and fulfillment will naturally follow.

2️⃣ Surround yourself with a supportive network: Our conversation touched upon the importance of having a strong support system. We discussed the value of having a best friend who happens to be a liquor rep (yes, you read that right!). They shared how this friendship opened doors to new opportunities and helped them achieve their dreams. Remember, having a team behind you and attracting a supportive community is crucial for personal and professional growth.

3️⃣ Embrace collaboration and teamwork: We delved into the misconception that success can only be achieved through individualism. Our guests emphasized the significance of building a team and working together towards a common goal. History has shown us that great accomplishments are rarely achieved alone. By focusing on the needs of our community and putting ego aside, we can make a more significant impact and find true purpose.

I encourage you to listen to this episode and gain valuable insights that can inspire personal growth and fulfillment in your own life. Don't forget to share your thoughts and takeaways in the comments below. Let's continue the conversation and support each other on our journey towards success and happiness! 🌟

Ep 61: Haunted Mansion with Emily and Clayton from the Make it Magical Podcast

I told you guys last week I was going to bring in some guests to start helping out with all these movie and tv show reviews we had going on, and as promised, I have dug up the best 2 ghost hosts in the business to talk about Disney's new Haunted Mansion movie. Emily and Clayton from the Make it Magical Podcast are the biggest Haunted Mansion ride fans I know, so I knew they would make the perfect guests for this weeks episode. These guys have been some of the best friends I have made in this Disney podcast community and we have been chatting since almost our very first week as official podcasters. Emily and Clayton are California kids, and Disneyland has always been their home park, but the flew up to New England last year during scary season and were able to see New England in the fall, they got to check out historic Salem and see some sites from the Hocus Pocus movie, and we were even able to all meet up in Boston and hang out too. If you do not already follow these guys on IG, please go do so right now, and then absolutely subscribe to their podcast and start checking out all their episodes too. Here are all the links on where to reach out and talk to, and hear these fellow Disney podcasters...

    Review | Disney's Haunted Mansion (Spoiler-Free)

This is our spoiler-free review for Disney’s Haunted Mansion. We discuss how this frightfully delightful family movie and its excellent cast had us smiling like “grim grinning ghosts” and how it will be a treat for hardcore fans of the ride, however sadly it’s comedic chaos and overstuffed third act lost us along the way.

Disney’s Haunted Mansion is in theatres July 28th 2023.

The History and Hauntings of the Lemp Mansion

The History and Hauntings of the Lemp Mansion

Said to be one of the ten most haunted places in America, the Lemp Mansion in St.Louis, Missouri, continues to play host to the tragic Lemp family. Over the years, the mansion was transformed from the stately home of millionaires to office space, decaying into a run-down boarding house, and finally restored to its current state as a fine dinner theatre, restaurant and bed and breakfast.

Dissecting The Haunting, 1963 | Directed by Robert Wise

Dissecting The Haunting, 1963 | Directed by Robert Wise

Hello, horrorphiles. Here we dissect the classic 1963 film, The Haunting directed by Robert Wise and based on the Shirley Jackson novel, The Haunting of Hill House. Starring Julie Harris, Claire Bloom, Richard Johnson and Russ Tamblyn.

“Dr. Markway leads a small group of ghost hunters to a supposedly haunted mansion to conduct experiments to prove the existence of the paranormal. The group consists of Eleanor Lance, a psychologically tortured woman; Theodora, a lesbian clairvoyant who befriends Eleanor; and a hip young cynic, Luke Sanderson, whose family owns the house. The paranormal activity that ensues affects the group differently, leading each to explore his or her own insecurities and leaving viewers wondering whether the real terrors are not contained in the house but exist within the psyches of the characters,” according to the Encyclopedia Britannica.
