Welcome to Beer Rum & Rock N Roll. A rock music podcast with Beau Shiminsky and Randy Legault. Keeping rock alive - one conversation at a time.

Randy Legault is a serious motherfucker when it comes to rock music, owns a video editing company 'Legault Post' and enjoys Beer. He's a good boy, crazy 'bout Elvis. Loves Zeppelin and his lovely wife too. A true defender of the faith with a serious arsenal of knowledge that is fun tapping into.

Beau Shiminsky came out of the womb kicking and screaming and naturally the music bug hit early. By 14 he started a punk band and has turned it to 11 ever since. The love of music lead to a career in Scoring Films and Audio Post-Production at his Studio 'Ear Candy'.
Comfortably numb with a rum and a whole lotta love for Rock N Roll.

My guest today is Jose Koechlin, the Founder and President of the iconic Inkaterra Hotels in Peru.

Jose’s life's work has been to preserve the biodiversity of his country. Starting with media projects like movies and documentaries, Jose realized he could use public interest to fund deep and meaningful research and conservation efforts.

Whether you stay deep in the heart of the Amazon with experienced researchers, enjoy the trappings of a 16th century home of a conquistador in Cusco, or tuck into a warm soup while bird watching near Machu Picchu - you’ll be surrounded with the friendliest of staff and all the luxury amenities you’re used to.

Jose and I discuss his long term friendship with Mick Jagger, the next hotel in Inkaterra’s collection, and his deep passion for the natural world around us.

Episode 21: Tangled up in What's Behind the Music?
On this week's pod, Leo and Steve delve into the art of song-writing and ponder “What’s behind the music?”. They discuss the pros and cons of knowing the true meaning behind lyrics, bringing politics into music, interpreting your favourite songs, artists singing songs written by others, substance in music and several other topics surrounding what's behind the music.

Corey Glover of Living Colour, Interview Part 1 - There Goes My Hero

Corey Glover of Living Colour, Interview Part 1 - There Goes My Hero

What does Corey Glover remember most about recording Living Colour’s “Time’s Up” 30 years later? How would the singer compare working on a new Living Colour album to creating music with his metal project, Disciples of Verity? What gift did Mick Jagger give him while in the studio together demoing music? What surprised Corey the most while opening for The Rolling Stones on a massive stadium tour?

Find out what Corey reveals in “There Goes My Hero” - an interview series where Matt and Zach talk to their favorite artists about the first time they met their idols. Hear our guests relive every glorious (and possibly embarrassing) moment from encountering their musical heroes, and how that experience impacted them for the rest of their lives.

Listen to part 1 of our interview, and stay tuned for Part 2 of our chat with the Living Colour and Disciples of Verity singer!

XII - Bebe Buell || Boy Scout Magazine

XII - Bebe Buell || Boy Scout Magazine
It is almost impossible to capture the remarkable life and career of Bebe Buell. Discovered by super agent Eileen Ford who relocated Bebe from her hometown of Virginia Beach, Virginia, to New York City where her passion, charisma and stellar looks propelled her into the limelight of Manhattan's music scene. After meeting musical genius Todd Rundgren, the two moved in together and began a steady relationship. When Bebe posed for Playboy in 1974, she became the first fashion model to become a Playboy Playmate (Miss November), but her controversial layout caused her to be fired by the prestigious Ford modeling agency. Affectionately called “Friend To The Stars,” Bebe earned the title because of her closeness to everyone from Jack Nicholson to Andy Warhol, and her carte blanche access to rock’s elite royalty including relationships with Mick Jagger, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Elvis Costello, Rod Stewart, Stiv Bators, Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. Bebe’s musical career jumpstarted with her first release, “Covers Girl” (1981) produced by Ric Ocasek and Rick Derringer and featured legendary group The Cars backing her on two tracks. She formed The Gargoyles; the female-fronted, hard rock unit that was ahead of its time and caught the eye of Joey Ramone who had the band open for The Ramones. Soon, offers of record deals followed. But when Bebe’s daughter Liv found out her father was actually Steven Tyler, and not Todd Rundgren, 1991 became a year of big changes. Well documented in the media, Bebe has said that she didn’t want to tell Liv who her real father was because of Steven’s heavy drug addiction at the time. Todd had known that he was not the biological father of Liv but had kept the secret in order to give both Bebe and Liv some semblance of a stable home. As Steven got sober, the news of Liv’s parentage was no longer a secret. Bebe withdrew from the public eye to focus on raising her daughter. Seven years later, after a series of live shows at famed downtown mecca Don Hill’s, The Bebe Buell Band was born. Around this time, Cameron Crowe released the film “Almost Famous” which is heavily based on certain elements of Bebe’s life. Crowe crafted some of the film’s dialogue from Bebe, which he remembered during their friendship on the road with Todd Rundgren in 1973. Released in 2001, Buell's autobiography “Rebel Heart; An American Rock And Roll Journey” (St, Martin’s Press) was a New York Times Bestseller. For almost 20 years she has been married to Jim Wallerstein of Das Damen and Vacationland fame. A musician, mother, muse, model, celebrated lover, manager, best selling author, and pop culture icon, music has always held her deepest passion. Boy Scout talked to Bebe about and spirituality, sex, and Patti Smith.

    5: George Thorogood

George Thorogood talks about the distinctly different impacts of The Beatles VS The Rolling Stones, and touches on subjects like the importance of women to his career, help he got along the way from John Lee Hooker, Johnny Winter, and mom and dad plus reveals why Bill Clinton was so smart.
