Ep. 121 Where is Walter Vernon McCraw?

Ep. 121 Where is Walter Vernon McCraw?

In this episode of the Crack House Chronicles, Donnie interviews Ashley McCraw, daughter of Walter Vernon McCraw who was last seen by his parents on July 6, 2018 when they dropped him off at the Waffle House on 1808 E. Dixon Blvd. Shelby North Carolina.

An officer found Vernon sleeping in the grass with his leg in the road just down the street at the McDonald’s at 206 E. Dixon Blvd. on July 11. The officer confirmed Vernon left the area on foot. Later that day, someone turned in Vernon’s ID that was found near the old police department on Lafayette Street.

According to Lieutenant Jason Benfield of the Shelby Police Department, many people knew of him and would come to his aid when he needed it.

“A lot of people would see Vernon and see him in diabetic distress and call an ambulance because they knew he had health issues,” said Benfield.

According to the missing persons report, Kathy McCraw became concerned when her son did not show up to pick up his SSI check, which was not normal. She reached out to law enforcement Aug. 1, 2018.

“The reason we waited to do something is because Vernon has gone missing in the past,” said Bryan. “We didn’t know if he was off with some his buddies. We drove the streets looking for him about every day for an hour or so where he hung out at and nobody else saw him.”

The family said they have experienced unspeakable pain since Vernon has been missing. Vernon suffered frostbite a year prior to his disappearance and lost his toes. His limited mobility makes Bryan wonder what happened the day Vernon disappeared, considering he could not have gotten very far on his own.

“It’s been like hell,” said Bryan. “We don’t know what happened to him. He could not have went off on his own. If somebody can tell us where we can find Vernon, I would be glad to give them a reward.”

I Miss the Sound of Your Voice

I Miss the Sound of Your Voice

The Sisters talk about the griever resisting healing, resisting the pain. In the first few weeks and months after the loss, the most important thing that the griever can be doing is allowing in the pain, but no one ever tells them that.  One of the ways is to  bring the grief up, like bringing it up when the time is appropriate. And one of the ways we do that is with a voice recording of Austin.  You can use pictures or videos of your loved one as well, it's just important to make sure it's being done.

    TLS05E03 Dinosaur Size with Spanners!

    TLS05E03 Dinosaur Size with Spanners!

We have talked before about how large some of the giant sauropods were and how being big can really affect your biology, but just how do palaeontologists weight dinosaurs from incomplete skeletons and how accurate will these methods be? Well happily we have a podcast that will tackle those very questions and delve into the history and mystery of working out how heavy dinosaurs were, how we used to get it very wrong and why even now we are not that right. Joining us as a guest this time is F1 podcaster Spanners who, it turns out, is a huge dinosaur enthusiast. He wants to ask a rather different question about dinosaur domestication than you might first expect.

This Boy Missed 2 Birthdays Due To COVID, But A Local Police Officer Responded In A Big Way
7-year-old Carver from Hopkinton, Massachusetts has had quite the last couple years. Due to COVID-19 and the quarantine that we've had to endure, Carver has been forced to miss out on celebrating his last 2 birthdays. When Officer Rob Ekross got word of this, he knew he had to step into action.

"Ekross, on his own, purchased a couple of gifts for this future police officer and delivered them on his birthday," the department wrote in a Facebook post.

The whole department wished Carver a happy birthday and said they look forward to serving with him as an officer in 2035!
