E79: IYCS-Audio Flash Files #19 "How to Have Honest Self-Talks that Boost Your Personal Outlook"

19th InvisiYouth Chat Sessions: Audio  Flash Files gives you a boost of life advice and perspectives that’ll provide empowering tools you can practically incorporate into your life for more success and joy.

As the final episode for our “Mediator Communication Series” for 2023, we are focusing on the communication dynamic that every single one of us deals with…our self-talk. That’s right, we’re focusing on the steps anyone can take to bring a positive outlook to how we communicate with ourselves, and once you do these steps, you’ll never want to have that inner dialogue any other way.

As we end the year and get ready for any of those resolutions or ways to improve ourselves, we gotta look inward and figure out how to communicate better with ourselves. With 96% of adults having inner dialogue every day, we need to take just as much time learning how to talk to ourselves with more kindness, realness and respect so we can have a better mental wellbeing and better outlook on life situations. Learn the steps on how you can recognize when your self-talk has gone from fleeting thoughts and pondering to actual tints of negativity, doubt, worry or judgement so you’re actually looking at life, yourself and situations in a tinted framework. Gain the ideas behind our Pseudo Full Tank Mindset, what are the four steps you can proactively add into your thought processing so you can be more productive and kind to yourself, why you need to challenge the negativity in order to be more productive in how you view and tackle life, and why gaining a pulled back view on the negative layers your subconscious can add to your self-talk can actually speak with respect and kindness to yourself while fusing realism and positivity into your communication style with yourself. Plus, founder Dominique drops how her previous self-talk used to be framed in some frustration and negativity when she was in the early stages of her chronic illness journey, and how she utilized that pseudo full tank to reframe and gain some positivity in how she communicates with herself for a better life outlook.

Let's get talking and make your communicate style with yourself optimal for success and comfortability so there’s a sense of ease, success, joy, and always add your type of chatting style to the forefront so productivity thrives along with your health’s wellbeing!

    Season 3 / Episode 33: Kim Deschamps

    Season 3 / Episode 33: Kim Deschamps

Quotes on change: "Navigating change is about finding your tribe."

Kim is the owner of Holistic Physiotherapy and Wellness.  As a practicing physiotherapist, Kim saw the gaps in her clients’ treatment.  She was searching for more of a connection with their whole being when treating them and knew she needed to change her approach.  She was going into peoples’ homes, teaching them how to listen to their bodies, and integrating yoga in her treatment.

Kim studied how our hormones are regulated and how our monthly cycles impact us – there are ways to set up our work and home life to take advantage of the stages of our monthly cycles.

Like most entrepreneurs, there are parts of running a business that are challenging, and Kim found a way to keep the things she liked and delegate the things she didn’t enjoy.

Kim’s advice to running a business, marriage, raising children, continually finding ways to treat the whole body – have grace

Season 3 / Episode 32: Roberta Bain - Change when success and values don't align

Season 3 / Episode 32: Roberta Bain - Change when success and values don't align

Roberta Bain had a profitable business with her hair salon and fell in love with being an entrepreneur.  She sold her business to go into a joint venture shortly after marrying her husband, a horticulturalist.  Their start-up company of micro-greens was successful and their product was distributed across Canada.  Roberta loved the culture that she was building with her team – a culture that supported a sustainable food product and a culture that supported the core values of the team.  It was exciting to be part of a company providing a sustainable food product.

Then, overnight, it became legal to grow cannabis. Having all the growing infrastructure made it easy to transition to growing cannabis.  But Roberta found this change very difficult.  It changed the way people thought about her (not everyone agrees with cannabis), it changed her marriage (not easy when you are the COO and your husband is the CEO), and it changed the culture of the team (culture is the most innovative part of business growth).

Roberta talks about all these changes, how she had to get back to doing what was important to her after losing herself,  and how difficult it was for her to get back into the workforce when she wasn’t the leader.

    "Feedback" The L.I.T Code Sn2, Ep13

    "Feedback" The L.I.T Code Sn2, Ep13

If you search for the definition of the word "feedback", you will get an assortment of complexed definitions! Here on The L.I.T Code, we simply define it as, "A response to an action or occurrence from an observer or receiver back to the source of the action or occurrence."

For example, the definitions that you would receive by searching the word "feedback", would actually be THE feedback from the search engine. It is extremely important to understand that the search engine only gave you feedback based on YOUR action of typing in a word and initiating the search!

In life we are all walking balls of feedback! The way we talk, look, dress, walk and act will all earn us feedback from somewhere and some thing. Our own bodies even work off of feedback! If you hold your breath long enough, your lungs will send feedback to your brain saying "we need oxygen" and your brain will then send feedback saying "you better breathe before you die!" That's how important it is!

Tune in as we dive into the importance of feedback, where we should accept it from, when we should apply it and how valuable it is when we learn to manage it properly! Please like, share and subscribe for more content!

Season 3 / Episode 16: Dean Ehrmantraut - Using determination until you get it right

Season 3 / Episode 16: Dean Ehrmantraut - Using determination until you get it right

Quotes on change: "What value am I providing? What is my purpose?"

Dean Ehrmantraut was a Financial Advisor Assistant Manager for Wood Gundy. He was in his groove and doing very well financially.  He would set financial targets, then meet them, set higher targets, and meet them, and on it went.

But there came a point where Dean asked himself, “What value am I providing?” And to answer this question, he tells us in the podcast that you have to take money out of the equation.

At the age of 46, Dean retired.  He was financially secure but suddenly had lots of time on his hands.  Walking the dog, going to the gym, but what was the purpose?  Dean talks about the people in his life who sparked new interests for him, and how he started a new career as a lawyer, finding purpose and value for himself and the people he serves.

The L.I.T Code Sn2, Ep9 "The Journey" ft Derrick "DJ" Johnson

The L.I.T Code Sn2, Ep9 "The Journey" ft Derrick "DJ" Johnson

When watching someone living in their success, it's easy to assume that everything is easy and glamourous. That is hardly ever the case. Even the most successful stories have a very important chapter in them that most people neglect to read. That chapter is entitled "The Process"! This is the least "sexy" chapter of all. It doesn't boast all of the glitz and glam of the latter chapters. Contrarily it gives you a look into the ugly truths, the setbacks, and the grind of the journey. Although it is not as pretty as the other chapters, it is THE MOST VITAL chapter of all because none of the pretty parts of success exist without it! Today, Kansas City Chiefs great DJ Johnson joins us to talk about his illustrious football career from start to finish. The great thing is he doesn't omit his "Process" chapter! Tune in as he opens up about his process and how the rough parts of it catapulted his career into All Pro status! We hope that you all enjoy, and evolve! Please share and we thank you all for your continued support!

Season 3 / Episode 15: Lee Knafelc: Each change can empower you to move forward

Season 3 / Episode 15: Lee Knafelc: Each change can empower you to move forward

Quotes about change: "Test and try things out before retirement"

Lee Knafelc came from a family of teachers, so it seemed obvious to him that he would go into teaching himself.  Lee realized  early on, that teaching in primary and secondary school was not for him.  He loved teaching and so refocused on teaching and training adults. As with many things in life, things rarely turn out as we planned, and Lee found that human resources was a good fit for him and there he enjoyed a long and successful career.

Lee has recently retired from his high level HR position in a mining company, where he was a big part of the change from a very tactical approach to human resources to a company-wide strategic approach.  Now,  HR is  at the table making key executive decisions about the future of the company.

In Lee’s position, he was able to forecast how people would transition into retirement by the retirement gifts people chose for themselves – it was a peek into how they planned to spend their time, and it gave Lee great insight into how he wanted to spend his time in retirement.  Choice, confidence, and self-awareness have been important elements to Lee’s successful life transitions.

Season 3 / Episode 14: Ryan Townend: Is this the life I want to live?

Season 3 / Episode 14: Ryan Townend: Is this the life I want to live?

Quotes about change: “Everything in life comes at the right time.”

Ryan Townend is the Owner and CEO of William Joseph Communications.  During the pandemic, like many of us, Ryan stayed at home, gained a few extra pounds, and lived in stretchy, comfortable clothes.  When his doctor reported he had some pre-eminent health conditions, his first thought was, “Is this the life I want to live?”

Inspired by a friend who had undergone significant weight loss, Ryan went into “Fat Camp for 90 Days”.  His goal was a time limit, not a weight goal, and it worked.  Ryan lost 50 pounds in 3 months.  Ryan talks about how getting off social media freed up the time he needed to spend on himself. Focusing inward  has changed Ryan’s life – how he perceives himself and how others perceive him.

For someone in the brand industry, Ryan is now the brand he wants for himself.

Season 3 / Episode 12: Shawn Moen and Garrett Pederson - Hard-baked resilience

Season 3 / Episode 12: Shawn Moen and Garrett Pederson - Hard-baked resilience

Shawn Moen was a practicing lawyer and Garrett Pederson, an environmental engineer. They are both farm boys, families rooted in agriculture farming 9 miles apart from each other in SW Saskatchewan.  A home brewing kit turned out to be life-changing for Shawn and Garrett when they started brewing beer and is now the very successful and award-winning craft brewery, 9 Mile Legacy Brewing.

Shawn and Garrett thought long and hard about leaving successful careers to put all their time and energy into their business and knew there were lost opportunities by not staying.  There have been many times when they thought about throwing in the cards.  But they have what Garrett describes is “…like a marriage, a strong partnership rooted in love and respect.” It works because they learned to how work together and sorted out who was good at what.

Their life transitions have been mired in uncertainty, hope, and hard work. Their resilience is hard-baked into their DNA.

Season 3 / Episode 11: Stephanie Staples - Are you the person you want to be?

Season 3 / Episode 11: Stephanie Staples - Are you the person you want to be?

Quotes about change: "I stopped trying to change others and worked on changing me."

Stephanie Staples was working as an RN – she had a nice family, a nice husband, a nice house, a nice job.  And then she had an “incident”, a fairly significant one, that made her stop and ask herself, “Is this the person I want to be?”

Stephanie knew something was missing in her life and felt guilty about wanting more when she had so much.  But she wanted a better life, so fell into personal development and everything changed for her when she stopped looking to change other people and focused on changing herself.

A big step was deciding the people with whom she wanted to surround herself.  She wanted people in her life who fed her, and she did a tally on how people made her feel when she was in their company.  She also takes a pulse on her pain, and now doesn’t wait for it to become a 9 before she does something about it. Stephanie has changed and evolved and is now a Psychosocial Wellness Coach, speaker, and author.
