Linda's Corner - The powerful principle of love with Juan Lee

Linda's Corner - The powerful principle of love with Juan Lee

Juan Lee is an author and teacher on the powerful principle of love.  For over 30 years, he has studied organized religion to find the elements that unite humanity and share the message with those who need it. Based outside of Washington DC, Juan is a decorated US Air Force veteran and author of Love Made Simple

As a child, Juan was the youngest of four children raised by a single father.  Juan struggled with an undiagnosed learning disability that made school difficult. While being constantly compared to others, he was unable to identify his strengths.  Juan’s low self-esteem and fear took away his hope for life.  He joined the US Air Force out of high school in hopes just to survive.

Juan received multiple merits during his time in the military, including the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.  He found new confidence in service but could not separate himself from his disability.  During his time in the Air Force, Juan committed his life to Christianity and sought to utilize the principle of love in his life.

It was the powerful principle of love that instilled Juan with self confidence and an absolutely knowledge of his self worth.  Now Juan shares this powerfully empowering message with others.

Elizabeth Polinsky is a military marriage counselor in Norfolk, Virginia, and the host of The Communicate & Connect Podcast for Military Relationships.  She is also currently working on a Ph.D. in Marriage & Family Therapy with a specialization in couple therapy.

What makes marriage so challenging?  We all have deep seated fears like:  Am I accepted?  Am I good enough?  Am I going to be abandoned?  Am I a failure?  In marriage, we often trigger each other's worst fears without even realizing it because we deeply care what the other person thinks about us.  In this episode we discuss how to increase emotional awareness which helps us not react to those potential triggers, so we can create an environment where both partners can feel safe, loved, and understood.

Liz currently works at The Relationship Center in East Beach Norfolk. More information about counseling services can be found at www.elizabethpolinskycounseling.com

Linda's Corner - Think Unbroken with Michael Anthony

"I am the kind of person who is kind to myself" - Michael Anthony

Michael Anthony was born to a hyper-abusive drug addict mother who cut his finger off at 4 years old, and a step-father you pray you never have.  He experienced poverty, homelessness, and addiction in his teens.  Then surprisingly, despite multiple learning disabilities and not graduating high school on time, Michael found financial success in Corporate America in his early twenties.

However, success only made things worse.  Michael found himself morbidly obese, high and drunk daily, and ultimately self-sabotaging everything around him.  It was not until finding his inner power through his Mirror Moment and choosing to do whatever it took to work through childhood trauma that his life really began.

Michael Anthony is the author of the best-selling book Think Unbroken and is a coach, mentor, and educator for adult survivors of child abuse.  Michael spends his time helping other survivors get out of "The Vortex" to become the hero of their own story and take their lives back.  Michael hosts The Michael Unbroken podcast, teaches at Think Unbroken Academy and is on a mission to create change in the world.  He teaches people how to get unstuck, learn to love themselves, and become the hero of their own story.

Linda's Corner - How "SHEROES" use faith to conquer fear with Lauren Nelson

Linda's Corner - How "SHEROES" use faith to conquer fear with Lauren Nelson

Lauren Nelson is the author of "SHEROES of the Bible," and is passionate about sharing the stories of these heroic women to inspire young and old with the faith to overcome their fears.

Lauren understands personally how the power of faith can overcome deeply rooted fear.  She was four years old the first time she was kidnapped from her bed in the middle of the night and abused physically, mentally, emotionally, and sexually in satanic worship rituals.  The experience was so overwhelming horrific that she repressed the memories for many years, but eventually they resurfaced and the memories filled her with fear.  She understands firsthand the power of faith to conquer fear.   She has learned that Jesus is stronger than the enemy, and that God loves us and will help us through our trials.

Lauren wrote "SHEROES of the Bible" to share the stories of strong women who let God's love be greater than their fears to help encourage each of us to do the same.

Quotes about change: "No place can make you happy unless you are happy inside."

Renea Egeland has been a caregiver for her entire life.  In fact, she took her training as a nurse, and just recently retired after a career in nursing of over 30 years.

Her grandmother and sister both received end of life care from Renea.  She was a caregiver for her family and always thought of herself as giving to others.

Her retirement focused a light on Renea’s lack of self-care, and it took  healing and professional guidance to help Renea see she needed to make some life-changing decisions that would affect her and her entire family.

Renea takes us through her inspiring, and sometimes painful, journey of personal life changes and how she transitioned from being a nurse to a shepherdess and finding happiness inside.
