Next week marks the triumphant return to the screen of Hollywood’s real life daredevil flying ace, Tom friggin’ Cruise… in the long-belated but still much anticipated, Top Gun: Maverick, which we will be covering.

But before we get there, we take to the friendly and furious skies back to the mid-80s with the original 1986 film, Top Gun, as we patiently await the return of the long-delayed sequel.

So rev up the engines, rally your wingman, and join us as we enter the Danger Zone to find out if Top Gun, has lost that lovin’ feeling, or if it still makes us wanna hit Mach 3 and keep up that need for speed!!

We only get a new Paul Thomas Anderson film every 3-5 years, and every time it's cause for celebration. His latest film Licorice Pizza (2021) is about young love set in a dreamy version of the San Fernando Valley in the 1970s. Jason Furie and Adam Roth stack this one up against his near flawless film history and ultimately decide where it ranks.

Hanif and New York Times critic at large Wesley Morris took to the stage in Brooklyn to talk about four of their all-time favorite Black movie soundtracks, from Do the Right Thing (1989) to Love and Basketball (2000), from Boomerang (1992) to Belly (1998).
