And the cool thing is all of this data is open to the public.  Cindy Chin, NASA Datanaut, joins us for an exciting and informative chat about ways you can use this data. She also tells us about NASA's Data App Challenge and gives us information about how to participate!

Join myself and Gonzalo to hear some interesting stories about technology past, present and future. Solar food, have you tried space ice cream? It’s not vegetarian, it’s not animals so what is it? Hyperloop will we get to LA to San Francisco in 40 minutes? Also, can we survive eating only avocados? Food for thought.

Why is air travel falling apart?

Why is air travel falling apart?

The IT Crowd was right! You really should try turning everything off and on again to make it work. This week, Cherlynn and Devindra discuss how the FAA did just that to fix its NOTAM system, which alerts pilots of potential hazards. It turns out a database error was enough to send that system into a spiral, which forced the FAA to ground flights Wednesday morning. But of course, this was just one issue facing air travel in America – we also dive into Southwest’s holiday fiasco, as well as potential transportation alternatives.

Why Would You Send Yeast into Space?

Why Would You Send Yeast into Space?

Yeast is something you probably eat every day (it's in bread!) but would you ever think about sending it into space? That's exactly what Dr. Sergio Santa Maria, the lead scientist for NASA Ames BioSentinel program is doing. BioSentinel is NASA's first biological mission beyond the Earth-Moon system. Their experiment with yeast was launched on the Artemis1 rocket and is now (and forever) flying through space. The goal is to learn how yeast is affected by deep space radiation in hopes of learning how that same radiation might affects humans. Sounds like a cool experiment, doesn't it? It is! Take a listen.
