#10MinuteTalk - Night Vision — Is it Worth it?

Night Vision: It’s a crazy superpower instrumental in the success of our modern warfighters, looks cool in movies, and elevates the night hunting and shooting experience. Mounted to your face or rifle, there’s no question it is insanely awesome. Is it expensive? Yes. Do you want it? Yes. But is it worth it? Vortex Edge® instructor Mike Griffin joins Mark Boardman and Jimmy Hamilton to answer this very question.

Ep. 257 | NODS With Mike – All About Night Vision

Ep. 257 | NODS With Mike – All About Night Vision

Night vision is basically a superpower. It’s been instrumental in our warfighter’s success, adds a more than unique element to hunting hogs and predators at night where legal, and its cool-factor pegs out at off-the-charts. Fun fact: Night vision has been in development since WWII. That’s right, the greatest generation had a form of night vision. Hit play if you want to hear all about night vision from our very own night-vison guru, Mike Griffin, in this lights-out episode of, the Vortex Nation Podcast.

EPISODE 10 (50) LIVELY LISTENER - how to become a terrific listener and watch your impact at work grow

EPISODE 10 (50) LIVELY LISTENER - how to become a terrific listener and watch your impact at work grow

In this week's Podcast, Andrew introduces you to Trampoline Listening.

This is the opposite of  Sponge listening, where you stay silent and absorb what the other person says.

Trampoline Listening is more like bouncing on a trampoline in which people bounce ideas off you. It's when you act as an amplifier instead of passively absorbing ideas and energy.

What's so particular about this kind of behaviour?  According to Andrew, most people prefer broadcasting, using airtime with their views and opinions.

Trampoline listening, he says, is Authentic Listening and others enjoy and want more of it if they can get it.

Andrew presents the three forms of Trampoline Listening. First, there's cognitive listening, in which you pay attention to all the information you receive.

Then there's Emotional Listening, where you manage your emotional reactions to what you are hearing.

Thirdly there's Active Behaviour, where verbally and non-verbally, you show any interest in what the other person says.

All three matter, and it can take a significant investment to master these completely. However, being aware of them can help enhance your listening impact.

Active Trampoline Listening, says Andrew, promotes good communication and makes it obvious you are paying attention. This builds your reputation at work.

All 50 Ways podcasts end with three actions you can take today to do better at Asking.

Can't wait for Series 2 to run its course? Then buy Andrew's new book, published on Amazon, and there's also an Audio version.

    BOOK:

Episode 6: Cole Durham of Mayonaka Solutions

Episode 6: Cole Durham of Mayonaka Solutions

In this episode we sit down with Raven Wing Limited close friend Cole Durham, owner of Mayonaka Solutions, a night vision company specializing in first time buyers.

Cole shares how he found himself in the night vision, aka "funny light" game, what to consider as a first time buyer, and why "buy once, cry once" is a good principle if getting into night vision.

Cole and Mayonaka Solutions are our go to night vision company, and Cole is often at Raven Wing Limited open range days and low light classes with loaner night vision set ups. We encourage you to come out and train with us to experience the night sky as you've never seen it before.

Finally, a shout out to Stand 1 Armory. We have been using their ammo to train and compete for a few months now and it has been flawless. We aren't sponsored by them, just supporting those doing good work in the community and hoping you might do the same.
