Ep135 - Bears beat Bath at the Rec, Saints preview and signing speculation

Ep135 - Bears beat Bath at the Rec, Saints preview and signing speculation

This week we talk about Bristol's 15-13 win against old rivals Bath at the Rec. In one of the scrappiest games of the season the Bears pulled of the win, despite a stuttering performance.

Hear our thoughts on the game and the player performances.

We also look forward to the next home game against the Saints with the help of Tom Vickers, Sports Writer for the Northampton Chronicle and Echo.

There's also six contract signings to discuss and rumours that a British Lion might be crossing the border to join the Bears next season.

All this and more with TC, Lee and Pete (Miles was missing in action!)

Ep120 - Bath beaten in the Premiership Cup and Kyle extends his Bristol contract

Ep120 - Bath beaten in the Premiership Cup and Kyle extends his Bristol contract

In this week's show we discuss the 29-0 victory against Bath in the Premiership Cup. Harry Thacker helped himself to a hat trick as an experienced Bristol team overwhelmed Bath at the Rec.

We also look forward to the next league game away at Northampton Saints and give our thoughts on selections and score predictions.

In a busy week off the pitch we discuss the news that Kyle Sinckler has extended his Bristol contract, our surprise about Dan Thomas's hastily arranged loan to Scarlets and the signing of Will Porter from Wasps as scrum half cover.

All this and more with Tony, Lee, Miles and Pete.

Ep106 - Disappointing defeats to Gloucester and Northampton, contract woes and Sale preview

Ep106 - Disappointing defeats to Gloucester and Northampton, contract woes and Sale preview

Not a great week for the Bears with disappointing loss against Gloucester in the Premiership Cup quickly followed by a league defeat away at Northampton. Hear our thoughts on the player performances, tactics and where it all went wrong... again.

To make a bad week on the field worse, news broke of Bristolian Dave Attwood's departure at the end of the season to join Bath. Then the Daily Telegraph's  revelation that a contract mess up means six players who were due to leave the club have been given one year extensions, due to a missed deadline, leaving a reported £400k gap in our salary budget for next season.

We discuss the how the gap may be filled and what big names might be on their way out to balance the books.

Plus our preview of the European game away at Sale with our friends from The Shark Tank podcast.

All this and more on this week's show.

Ep90 - Saints march in on Ashton Gate and a Rifles Cup preview

Ep90 - Saints march in on Ashton Gate and a Rifles Cup preview

We pick the bones out of the 20-36 home defeat to Northampton Saints. Despite quick starts in both halves, our scrum disintegrated during the game starving the Bears of possession and territory at crucial times. We talk team selection and tactics and who stood out on a night it went wrong for Bristol.

We also have our friend Ed from the Cherry Jam podcast to review the upcoming league game against Gloucester at Kingsholm. Will it be Gloucester or Bristol Bears with their hands on the Rifles Cup come Friday night.

There's also our thoughts on the women's win to keep them top of the league and breaking new ground with BBC coverage. Plus a proud moment for a Bear BaaBaa at Twickenham.

All this and more on this week's show, with Tony, Lee, Miles, Pete and Mr Tree!

Ep65 - It was the late, late show at Franklin's Gardens as Bristol Bears win again

Ep65 - It was the late, late show at Franklin's Gardens as Bristol Bears win again

In this week's show we reflect on Bristol's late comeback to beat Northampton Saints 21-28 at the Gardens to pick up another five-point win. It didn't look like it was going to be our day but with two tries in the last six minutes Bristol keep top spot in the league with a healthy seven-point lead over Exeter. We discuss the game, the tactics and the individual performances that stood out for us.

Later in the show we talk to Will and Michael Wood from 'A Harlequins Podcast' for their views on next week's visitors to the Gate. Hear how Quins fortunes have changed this season and who to keep a look out for on Saturday.

All this and more in this week's episode with the gentle buzz of a police helicopter in the background. Little did we know that as we were recording on Sunday night, Bristol city centre was the scene of some violent rioting.

Ep64 - It's been a 15-year wait, but Bristol Bears finally beat Wasps in the league.

Ep64 - It's been a 15-year wait, but Bristol Bears finally beat Wasps in the league.

In this week's show we talk about the 37-20 bonus-point win over Wasps at Ashton Gate. We finally get the win over Wasps that means Pat Lam's Bears have now beaten every team in the Premiership since winning promotion three season ago.

As usual we talk about the player performances, tactics and some of the funny things that caught our eye.

To preview our visit to Franklin's Gardens we are joined by Tom Vickers from the Northampton Chronicle & Echo to find out how Northampton Saints are performing this term. Hear what he has to say and our thought on Pat's options for the game with a few more players coming back from injury.

We also talk about our international boys performances for their respective countries; the draw for the next round of the Champions Cup; and about some new faces at Bristol. All this and more with Lee, Miles, Pete and Tony.

Ep51 - Bristol Bears seal last-gasp win over the Saints and Champions Cup preview

Ep51 - Bristol Bears seal last-gasp win over the Saints and Champions Cup preview

In this show we reflect on Bristol's narrow 18-17 win against Northampton Saints at Ashton Gate. It wasn't pretty but we just managed to get over the line for our second win of the season.

We look ahead to our Champions Cup game against Clermont Auvergne next week, our first fixture in this competition for 12 years.

Giving us a French insight is special guest, Veronique Landew, the host of the French Rugby Connections podcast in the UK. She tells us what to expect from Clermont and the players to look out for.

We also talk about the returning internationals and speculate who will play for Bristol next week. There's  news of the A Teams defeat away at Ealing Trailfinders; a heavy loss for the women's team and a new Bears' bobble hat has appeared!

Ep42 - Bears beat the Saints at home but get stung away at Wasps

Ep42 - Bears beat the Saints at home but get stung away at Wasps

In this show we review the 47-10 mid-week home win against Northampton Saints. Some outstanding individual performances and possibly the best try ever scored at Ashton Gate by Bristol.

We then move on to the away game against Wasps where a much changed Bristol team went down 59-35 having coughed up 26 points in an error-strewn first quarter. But five tries, a bonus point and an outstanding performance at fly half by Max Malins did provide a little comfort and something positive to take away from the Ricoh.

We preview Friday night's big European Challenge Cup quarter final against Dragons at Ashton Gate. We also ask the question what's more important this season, a top four league finish or a European cup final? We give our thoughts and reveal a listeners' poll.

We finish off this packed show with a 'Gets my Goat' from Pete.

We look ahead to the game against Worcester and wonder if Pat will change a winning team.
