Dans le deuxième épisode de Caput Mundi, je vais vous parler du roi Numa Pompilius. Moins connu de Romulus, c'est pourtant à lui que l'on attribue la fondation de la religion des Romains. En pactisant avec Jupiter, il assure la grandeur de la cité ! On attribue aussi à Numa la division du calendrier en douze mois lunaire, découvrez le règne calme et pacifique de Numa Pompilius, négociateur des dieux.

 Numa Pompilius, a man whom never wanted to be King, a man with a deep faith in the Gods topped off with a philosophy abhorrently against an aggression and anger driven society forever at war depriving Rome’s citizens of more Godly and more peaceful societal improvements.

If it’s said, Romulus gifted the Romans with a grand military tradition and supporting institutions which would last for a millennia, then Numa as a counter to military traditions, gifted the Romans grand religious traditions and supporting religious institutions, which would last for a millennia or more also.

Andrew Numa on the art of defining futility in conditions of uncertainty and rationing healthcare to maximise benefits. Another paeds talk from SMACC 2013.

The position of the mitotic spindle is controlled by the microtubule-based motor dynein and a ternary complex of the proteins NuMA, LGN, and Ga. Kotak et al. demonstrate that the ternary complex's primary function is to localize dynein to the cell cortex and that cortical dynein is sufficient to position the mitotic spindle in HeLa cells. Dynamic microtubules assemble into a steady state bipolar spindle structure but precisely how this is achieved is unclear. Loughlin et al. develop a computational model that predicts how a few key activities organize microtubules in Xenopus meiotic spindles.
