    Wonka review

    Wonka review

The Wonka candy empire had to start somewhere and someone decided to make a prequel to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory to tell the origin tale. That someone is director Paul King, who also directed the Paddington movies. Timothee Chalamet, from the Dune movies, stars as the young Willy Wonka who arrives at an unnamed town to open up a chocolate shop. He soon finds out that it isn’t going to be that easy thanks to the Chocolate Cartel. They don’t want any competition and they spring the Chief of Police on the young, naive Wonka. Lows and highs, twists and turns proceed in this movie also starring Hugh Grant as an Oompa Loompa, Keegan Michael-Key as the Chief of Police and Oscar winner Olivia Colman as Mrs. Scrubbit. Not sure whether this movie will be a tasty treat or a big bowl of rotten lettuce? Check out this spoiler-free review to clear up that mystery. Wonka also stars Tom Davis, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Calah Lane, Paterson Joseph, Matt Lucas, Mathew Baynton, Jim Carter and Rakhee Thakrar.

Straight from the 2023 Tiff Red-Carpet Premier, Ed Sinclair, Producer WICKED LITTLE LETTERS, starring his wife, actress, Olivia Colman

Have you ever been involved in a scandal or the subject of idle gossip? How did you cope?

Wicked Little Letters is a 2023 British black comedy mystery film directed by Thea Sharrock and written by Jonny Sweet. Set to be released in 2024, the film stars Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckley in the lead roles, along with Anjana Vasan, Malachi Kirby, Eileen Atkins and Timothy Spall in supporting roles.

Based on a true scandal that stunned 1920s England, the story centers on neighbours Edith Swan (played by Colman) and Rose Gooding (played by Buckley) in the seaside town of Littlehampton, England. One day, a series of obscene letters begin to target Edith and others, with suspicion falling upon Rose. As the outrageous letters continue to escalate, Rose risks losing both her freedom and custody of her daughter. Police Officer Gladys Moss (played by Vasan) is determined to find the real culprit, and along with a group of other women, seeks to solve this perplexing mystery.

At their TIFF red-carpet premier, in this episode, I talk with producer/writer, Ed Sinclair (Olivia Colman’s husband) about the dangers of competition amongst women, what can be learned when rumors are started & lives are potentially ruined, and how the story serves as female empowerment piece.

    The Favourite with Iana Murray

    The Favourite with Iana Murray

Jordan and Brooke are rejoined by film writer (and Poor Things festival viewer) Iana Murray for the most snubbed movie of 2018, in our humble opinion. Yorgos Lanthimos ties together a twisty triptych of lesbian power and desire...but we all know the real MVP of this movie is Horatio, the Fastest Duck in the City. If you like Rachel Weisz giving big "step on me" energy, national treasure Olivia Colman, historical memes, the rarity of triple Best Actress Oscar noms, or the word "cunt," this episode is for you!

Our 2nd of 3 episodes on season 2 of Heartstopper, and this in this one the squad goes to Paris!! The city of love, lights, and hickies. There's so many goodies, this episode contains the most squealing I think we've ever done in an episode.

In this episode we're discussing season 2, episodes 4-6.

Heartstopper is back and we haven't stopped thinking about it for the last year. Literally. Jess watched season 1 about 8 times. So it's only natural we bring you the recap of season 2, and this time it cannot be contained to a single episode. We'll be bringing you a total of 3 episodes to cover all of our favorite moments, and it will be absolutely chock full of spoilers, so if you haven't watched yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?? And then come back here so we can all gush about Nick and Charlie (and Elle and Tao and Tara and Darcy and Isaac and Imogen) together!!

In this episode we're discussing the production, new characters, and episodes 1-3.
