It Sucks and I'm grateful with Lisa Mitchell

“Funny how this life works. Things can suck and be gratitude-inspiring at the same time..”
    -Lisa Mitchell

What sucks and what is the associated gift you are grateful for?    Today’s episode is a solo one with yours truly, Lisa Mitchell.   Think of it as a bit of an audio diary entry I thought I’d share with you as food for thought in case you are struggling with something right now - something that seems unfair, inconvenient, painful, or even devastating.

Who is this host-person Lisa, anyways?

I am the Founder and President of Green Apple Consulting Inc., a Talent Management company. I bring 25 years’ experience as a corporate leader and former executive to the table.

As both a Team Coach and Executive Coach, I specialize in helping high achieving leaders elevate results and overcome overwhelm. I bring my skills in goal setting and accountability techniques, and an extensive resource library of tools, to my work with clients.

As a Thought Partner, I mentor, advise and consult with corporate HR and Talent leaders and their teams.  I help clients create and execute strategic plans, stakeholder needs assessments and relationships, and program design and development, and more.

In this super-short, very personal solo episode of Talent Management Truths, you’ll discover:

    • A wee story about travel, pain, and gratitude
    • Some musings on why gratitude is more automatic in certain sucky situations than in others

    Enjoy!

    Imagine!

What if you and your team could engage in transformative professional development together WHILE each person simultaneously gets their most important work done.

Episode 134: The Power of Here and Now

Episode 134: The Power of Here and Now
In this episode, Bob’nJoyce riff on the importance of immersing oneself in the present–the here and now. They discuss the discipline of getting real, its benefits, and at times, its awkwardness. Our brains are good at drifting and being distracted by what has happened or will happen. Being 100% in the here and now is ironically not where our minds spend much time. This is an experiential exercise where Bob’nJoyce practice the art of being in the here and now. Please join our intimate, uncomfortable, and wonderful conversation. Come on in. Grab a snack. Welcome!

Episode 122: Imposter Syndrome – The Fear of Being Found Out

Episode 122: Imposter Syndrome – The Fear of Being Found Out
Joyce and I often choose a topic based on an itch we need to scratch. In this episode, Joyce takes umbrage with the phenomenon known as imposter syndrome. it occurs often when high performers, often in new roles, are stretched professionally. All too often the phrase disparages the leader in question by creating doubt about whether they “fit in.” Feeling like an imposter hurts a person's performance and diminishes their job satisfaction. Unfortunately, most of us experience imposter syndrome at some point or another during our careers. Is there another way to view the doubt and negative self-talk when victimized by the imposter syndrome saboteur? Joyce and I think so. Let's explore: • How to shift our self-assessment from imposter to proud learner. • Is faking it until making it a good thing? • Inclusion, fear, and imposter syndrome – What’s the connection? Come on in. Grab a snack. Welcome.
