Unlocking Healing: Empowering Women with Trauma to Reclaim Health and Happiness

Unlocking Healing: Empowering Women with Trauma to Reclaim Health and Happiness

Discover the transformative power of healing as registered dietitian Christa dives into the profound connection between emotional trauma, blood sugar control, and weight management.

    Key Topics:

    • (3:43) These layers of trauma have led them to develop mental defense blocks, using food as a shield against their pain and an escape from their harsh realities. However, this coping mechanism has taken a toll, resulting in weight gain and the onset of prediabetes and type 2 diabetes.
    • (4:43) Are you trying to dodge a strong emotion?
    • (5:00) What I would love for you to do, is give yourself some time and space between grabbing that food and asking yourself a few questions.
    1. Where are you right now?
    2. Are you eating because you’re truly hungry? If no, what are you feeling?
    3. What is this feeling?
    4. Does it have a color? And does the color change as you continue thinking about it?
    5. Do I know what the feeling is? Can you identify it?
    • (5:10) The more you reflect on these questions and identify what the true trigger is, I ask you to please find a counselor or therapist and work alongside a dietitian to really guide you and even connect you to a community of other women - to help further empower you.

    TTC 2023

    TTC 2023

    Fitness Fertility Podcast

    • Improving your physical fitness can help support you on your fertility journey.
    • Maria and Roisin discuss everything you need to know when it comes to fitness for fertility. They will also discuss adult themes such as where do babies come from, pregnancy loss and bereavement.

Maria: Ultimately, what it comes down to with fertility is how long you have until you will be starting treatment.

    • The easiest way to look at this is whether or not you need to lose weight
    • This determines how long it will be until you start treatment
    • You need to make sure your body is ready to have the first round of IVF or ICSI or whatever it is you are doing
    • Research shows that the maximum number of hours you want to be working out for fertility friendly training should be no more than four

How do you keep women motivated?

    • Build a relationship with your trainer
    • Accountability: to have someone who holds you accountable to what you have said you will do

    Efficiency in 2023

    • Make sure you eke out some time that you can dedicate to your exercise but also to yourself.
    • Ultimately, your goal is to get pregnant. So there might be little adjustments you need to  make in your life.
    •  You might have to be a little bit selfish. do something fun and enjoy your journey.

    Babbelising Fertility with IVF Babble

This week we were joined by Tracey and Sara the founders of IVF babble. They are also founders of emmemenopause.com , fertilitybook.com and most recently Babble Health.

In addition to everything she has achieved so far, Sara is also a TV Floor Manager and Director at Side of Stage LTD. She was 32 when she decided she wanted a baby, and it took her four years to conceive.

Tracey is a fellow infertility and IVF warrior. Tracey started trying for a baby in her late 30’s and it took two attempts before she became pregnant with her twins. She lost many of her childbearing years because she didn’t have all the facts. Tracey’s advice for others is to “Get Checked”.

IVF babble has been voted  ‘Best Online Reproductive Health Platform 2022’ by GHP private health care awards, best blog on the web by Feedspot 2022 and top blog by Healthline 2020.  Tracey and Sara Marshall-Page created ivfbabble.com and in just two years, it was read across 168 countries.
