    Reverence and Justice

    Reverence and Justice

In this episode of Navigate the Day, we dive deep into the wisdom of the Stoic philosopher Marcus Aurelius and his guidance on living a virtuous and content life. He encourages us to let go of the past, trust in the grand design for the future, and focus our efforts on the present. It's in this moment that we discover two fundamental principles: reverence and justice.

Reverence, as Marcus Aurelius suggests, is the key to loving what life has allotted us. By cherishing our current circumstances and recognizing them as a part of the grand cosmic plan, we align ourselves with the harmonious order of the universe. This reverence allows us to find contentment, peace, and love in the present moment.

Justice is another cornerstone of a virtuous life. It entails speaking the truth openly and acting in alignment with moral and ethical principles. When we embrace justice, we not only honor the natural order but also contribute positively to the world, fostering harmony and balance in our interactions with others.

In this episode, we also explore a powerful journal prompt: "What do my principles tell me about persisting and resisting?" We navigate through personal experiences and lessons learned, discussing how our principles can guide us through challenging times and help us make more mindful and virtuous choices.

As we unravel the teachings of Stoicism and reflect on the principles of reverence and justice, we discover that living with integrity, wisdom, and peace is not just an aspiration but an attainable way of life. Join us on this inspirational journey to deepen your understanding of timeless philosophical wisdom and lead a more meaningful and virtuous life.

Tune in to Navigate the Day to explore these principles further and learn how to apply them to your own life for a more fulfilling and purpose-driven existence.

How to intentionally craft a life you love – with Anna K Morris

How to intentionally craft a life you love – with Anna K Morris

Anna K Morris spent her early career living she thought was an "idyllic" life. She had an amazing job in New York City, an enviable boyfriend, she was traveling and living the life she thought would bring her true happiness. The problem was – it didn't.

In this episode, Anna takes us through her own untethering, where she shares how she unraveled the "dream" life – which had actually turned out to be a nightmare – and rebuilt a life that is in alignment and in true integrity for herself.

Similar to how I have spent the last decade shedding the things I "thought" would make me happy, living the life I "thought" I should be living so I can live a life that's true to me, Anna discovered the things that truly make her happy and fulfilled.

Today, Anna uses her many years of experience to support others through this process as a mindset and journaling coach. Anna and I met at a retreat in Boca Raton, Florida, and we had a conversation there that is transparent and real as this one. We wanted to bring that same energy forth for you to be part of this conversation today, and we hope you enjoy and take something away from it!

    Takeaways:

    • When you feel like life is not working, even if you don't know what is wrong or why it feels that way, it's time to start journaling and looking inward.
    • Release the morality around your thoughts and decisions. Everything is not good or bad, it simply "is."
    • Self work has a ripple effect. Allow it to shift you away from a desire to manipulate the people around you and, instead, become the change yourself.
    • When things get too serious, invite play and curiosity. Self-development work gets to be fun!

Listen to this episode to hear:

    • How getting curious is the pathway to a new and more aligned life
    • Why our only job is to make ourselves feel good, and no one else
    • How to accept radical self-responsibility
    • Why being out of integrity with yourself creates situations in your life that aren't working – and what to do about it

    Dealing With Haters

    Dealing With Haters

In this inspiring episode of Navigate the Day, we delve into a profound quote by Marcus Aurelius, the Stoic philosopher: "What if someone despises me? Let them see to it. But I will see to it that I won't be found doing or saying anything contemptible. What if someone hates me? Let them see to that. But I will see to it that I'm kind and good-natured to all, and prepared to show even the hater where they went wrong."

Marcus Aurelius imparts timeless wisdom on handling negativity. He encourages us to maintain personal integrity by avoiding contemptible actions and responding to hate with kindness and understanding.

So, the pivotal question is: "Can I resist giving in to haters and hating them in return?"

In a world where negativity abounds, we explore a better path. Instead of retaliating, we can choose not to engage with haters. Our time is better spent on self-improvement and positivity. What truly matters is whether we like ourselves.

By focusing on self-directed thoughts and actions aligned with our values, we hold ourselves accountable and promote inner peace. Responding to hate with kindness and empathy can break the cycle of negativity.

Dealing with haters begins with self-awareness. We must acknowledge our own negative tendencies. As we strive for self-improvement and navigate life with clarity, others' opinions matter less.

In this episode, we embark on a transformative journey towards resilience and compassion, learning that kindness is our greatest strength in the face of hatred. Join us for this inspiring exploration of dealing with haters.

Personal Integrity, Creating Boundaries, and Resolving Conflict

Personal Integrity, Creating Boundaries, and Resolving Conflict

Let’s talk about pride, doing what feels true to your soul, and putting boundaries into place to help you live with the highest personal integrity.

When we are young, it’s so easy to declare how awesome we are and how well we did something. And as we get older, it becomes harder to praise ourselves for our accomplishments or the way we handle situations. I believe there is something nourishing to be found in acknowledging how well we try, and how well we rise to the occasions of our lives.

When we act in our lives in a way that honors our deeply held values, we are acting with integrity. When it starts to unravel is when we make concessions with our values in order to placate others or honor other people’s values.

In this episode, I share my struggles with standing up for myself, battling mean thoughts about those who I feel have done me wrong, and how I’m stepping into greater alignment with the me I want to be, who is less judgmental, and more willing to receive a resolution when in conflict.

It’s not perfect, but through examining my thought and emotional process as I go through conflict, I find myself more connected to my personal integrity, and more willing to relax and receive the results of my actions and efforts.

The covert nature of giving our power away... co-dependency with Natalie Anne Murray

The covert nature of giving our power away... co-dependency with Natalie Anne Murray

If you’ve ever looked at your personal relationships and thought wow – there is a pattern of unhappy here - there has to be a better way… you are not alone! Love + belonging are fundamental human needs; it bonds us all and in the absence of it we can feel utterly broken. However, there is a sinister underbelly of co-dependency that is rife in our society + suffocates our closest relationships… an extensive + multifaceted issue that touches every human on the planet. Weaved into Disney stories, Hollywood movies + your favourite tv series - co-dependency is subliminally sold to us as that ‘spark’ or ‘caring’ for those you love - but when faced with the truth that we are each ultimately responsible for our own happiness a deep, rippling confusion that ruptures our reality can leave us reeling.

I brought in relationship expert Natalie Anne Murray for an in-depth chat, unpacking what co-dependency really means, how it shows up in our relationships + in what way we can start to remedy this rampant issue. Natalie specialises in helping women to recover from dysfunctional childhood and adult relationships to truly experience deep, lasting transformation… she helps women realign with integrity + power to authentically feel at peace with being true to themselves. As someone who identifies as a recovering people-pleaser, Natalie shares with us her co-dependency wakeup call + unpacks how childhood conditioning + ‘good girl manners’ contribute to the narrative we must ‘be nice’ in order to be loved. We also discuss the distinction between kindness, acts of service + co-dependent behaviour, plus she illuminates that this is not a linear process (like all deep personal development work) with support + emotional co-regulation we can cultivate a beautiful connection with our loved ones that is free of reactive triggers.
