E59 The Power of Reviews: Building Credibility and Motivation for Podcasters

In this episode of Help Me Podcast we delve into the importance of reviews. We explore how reviews can provide credibility, motivation, and feedback for you as a host.  We also figure out if more reviews will help you get on tops lists with Apple podcasts.  Getting reviews for your podcast can be the shortcut to credibility you are looking for.  It's only of the only markers for success from the outside people have, and it's one of the things you can change without a lot of reviews.  Most podcasts don't have a lot of reviews even if they have a lot of downloads.  Lastly we will discuss Pod Lottery, a new tool for podcast hosts to exchange reviews.

    • Do reviews help your show grow?
    • Does the algorithm include positive reviews?

5 Ways to Get Reviews For Your Podcast

5 Ways to Get Reviews For Your Podcast

Reviews help you gain credibility for your podcast. The positive ones reinforce that you are an authority on your subject matter and give new listeners some insight on what they'll gain by listening to your podcast. And the negative reviews, while not always popular, can help you look at your podcast from a different perspective and make adjustments to your approach if necessary.

Additionally, the more reviews you can get, the more algorithms will recognize your show as valuable to the podcast listening community and, thusly, your show will rank better when listeners look for shows in your niche.

So, how do you get more reviews for your podcast? In Episode 78 of Pod Theory, I'm going to share five tips you can implement to bring more positive focus to your show by way of ratings and reviews from your audience.

What have you done to successfully gain more reviews for your podcast? Hit me up on Twitter and let me know your process!

Why Podcast Reviews Are So Damn Important

Why Podcast Reviews Are So Damn Important

We live in a world where reviews are everywhere. Seemingly every platform we use has some sort of review component built into it. And while reviews can provide an up close and personal look at a user's experience with a product or service, they only provide one point of view.

Are reviews important to podcasts? Yes. But do they tell the whole story? No.

On Episode 16 of Pod Theory, I'm going to share why I feel reviews are important to your show, but they're just one of five elements that can grab a new listener and get them hooked on your show. If you focus on the first four of these elements, the good reviews will follow...and your podcast will grow and evolve.

Pete mentions that he wants to talk about one of Mike's modified BMW's in the next episode and Mike agrees it will make for a good episode. Make sure you subscribe so you can here episode 10 where Mike starts to list the modifications to his 2015 BMW E84 X1 35i sleeper build.

Autoish Podcast Episode 1 - Mike and Pete Talk about Their Favorite Podcasts, Audiophile gear and Lots More

Autoish Podcast Episode 1 - Mike and Pete Talk about Their Favorite Podcasts, Audiophile gear and Lots More

In this first episode of the Autoish Podcast, Mike and Pete discuss some of their favorite podcasts, iPods, Audiophile stuff and much more (ish.) Mike gets a like geeky talking about audiophile DIY interconnect wires and touches on his recent subscription to Tidal. They both discuss what podcasts got then into podcasts and what episodes they recently listened to that moved them. Mike mentions that a recent episode on the Tim Ferriss show with Gary Keller, episode 401 moved him because of a simple question that Tim asked Gary towards the end of the interview. Tim had asked Gary Keller what he would put on a billboard for millions to see and his answer was "Think big and Aim high."

We arrived at the name of our podcast by combining the industry that we are both involved in, automotive and the idea that our podcast will cover a wide range of stuff. That's the "ish" part of our name. In future episodes we'll discuss; marketing, Pinterest, Audiophile gear, other podcasts, bourbon, watches, cars and more. #autoish #autoishpodcast #podcast #automotive #marketing
