“Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.” (Step 12 of the twelve steps)

This is the FINAL episode of this series! Please remember to subscribe and share the podcast and please see the link below to financially support our work...thank you!

Saint Basil wrote, “Through the Holy Spirit we are restored to paradise, led back to the kingdom of heaven, and adopted as children, given confidence to call God “Father” and to share in Christ’s grace, called children of the light and given a share in eternal glory.”

(CCC 733) ”God is Love” and love is His first gift, (The HS is the love between the Father and the Son) containing all others! God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

(CCC 734) Because we are dead or at least wounded through sin, the first effect of the gift of love is the forgiveness of our sins. The communion of the Holy Spirit in the Church restores to the baptized the divine likeness lost through sin.

(CCC 735) He, then, gives us the “Pledge” or “First Fruits” of our inheritance: the very life of the Holy Trinity, which is to love as “God has loved us.” This love (the Charity of 1 Cor 13) is the source of new life in Christ, made possible because we have received “power” from the Holy Spirit.

(CCC 736) By this power of the Spirit, God’s children can bear much fruit. He who has grafted us onto the true vine will make us bear “the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” “We live by the Spirit”; the more we renounce ourselves, the more we “walk by the Spirit.”

“Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.” (Step 12 of the twelve steps)

But Jesus answered them, “You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures not the power of God. He is not God of the Dead but of the Living” (Matt 22:29,32)

“What we have heard and known for ourselves must not be withheld from our descendants, but be handed on by us to the next generation.” (Psalm 78:3-4)

“What was given to you freely, you must give away freely.” (Matt 10:8)

"Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for the knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out." (step 11 of the twelve steps)

"Prayer is an inspiration of the heart, it is a simple glance directed toward heaven, it is a cry of gratitude and love in the midst of trial as well as joy; finally, it is something great, supernatural, which expands my soul and unites me to Jesus."--St. Therese of Lisieux

"Here we ask God for inspiration, an intuitive thought or a decision. We relax and take it easy. We don't struggle. We are often surprised how the right answers come after we have tried this for a while. What used to be a hunch, or the occasional inspiration gradually becomes a working part of the mind."--The Big Book of A.A. on prayer.

"Getting Real" is a Special Edition of the BWYR Podcast where we interview people whose lives have been changed by Saint John Paul ll's Theology of the Body.

In today's Episode, we veer from our usual format to discuss Socialism and its attack on the dignity of the person.

This is a topic that was close to the heart of Saint John Paul ll who said, "...the fundamental error of socialism is anthropological in nature. Socialism considers the individual person simply as an element, a molecule within the social organism, so that the good of the individual is completely subordinated to the functioning of the socio-economic mechanism."

    1. Start each morning with prayer! Include the Lords Prayer and this meditation:
Meditation on the Lord's Prayer suggested in todays podcast: Our Daily Bread

Give us this day our daily bread. This petition comes from a sense of dependence upon our Father. A child needs his daily sustenance in order to grow. In this world we need strength, fortitude, perseverance, all sorts of things both material and spiritual. And so we ask our Father for what is necessary for every moment of natural life and, still more, supernatural life. This is a willing dependence, not a grudging acceptance of a fact that we know is true….
And so we have confidence in our Father. This childlike trust is another characteristic of a true disciple of the Only Begotten Son, who is growing into his likeness. It rests on faith and hope and love and does not depend on natural motives at all. The child of God has that attitude which leads him to insist that even if he could live without his Father’s help, he would still prefer to be dependent on him for everything, as in truth he is. So he is both truthful in acknowledging his own helplessness and eager to accept that condition.
According to the teaching of our Master, we must keep our eyes on this day, not looking too much into the future with its possible problems, dangers, and needs. We know that our Father will continue to care for us after this day, and we ask with confidence, as a child does its human father, knowing that he can and will supply all our needs. Thus we shall learn to resist the temptation to be agitated about the future, we shall live for this day, and in no better way could we express our implicit trust in our Father.

(Chapter One, Episode #2) "We admitted we were powerless"

We admitted we were powerless over our addictions--that our lives had become unmanageable (Step 1 of the twelve steps)

The Lord said, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Saint Paul answered, "I will all the more gladly boast of my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For when I am weak, then I am strong." (2 Cor 12:9-10)

    2. Take one day at a time. Give something up for just 24 hours and offer it for an intention that is on your heart. Every time you are tempted "open" your heart and the temptation itself to Jesus. You will discover the power in this simple offering and of uniting a little of your own suffering to His.

    3. Having received the gift of grace, now BECOME a sincere gift to someone today! Go out of your way to be kind to your spouse, children, neighbor...make a call to someone who could use a connection. BE that connection.

You are now on the way to "Become Who You Are":)

Girls and boys are different, talking to children about their bodies.

Men, women and the meaning of love.

Why does the so-called modern culture demand that we sexualize friendships? How are we to understand love and attractions?

The opposite of love is not hate but using another person for your selfish pleasure.

026_Awe and Wonder in the Garden with Mary Grace Pingoy (part 4)

Mary Grace and Jack discuss the practical reality of "Connection"...the free choice she made to open the door of her heart to the heart of God. In turn the Father, who loves to surprise us, reveals His plan for her. This surprise in her words, "hit me like a ton of bricks".

It could have been different...if she was not willing to wait for God to reveal His gift to her. A woman has the power of giving her 'yes', her total sincere gift of self, to a man. How often in our culture does a woman give her yes before her time, only to be used and abused?

This is an important conversation that every young man and woman should hear. We hope you join us!
