    Confessions - Part 3 - It's On Me - Pastor Rob Bentz

When we were born into this world we entered into sin. Our need for forgiveness is great! Our loving and just God asks His people to humbly acknowledge our need for His forgiveness. The first step we take in the process of confession is realizing our sin, owning up to it, and taking responsibility for it.Join Pastor Rob Bentz as he shares the latest message from our Confessions sermon series, It’s On Me, to see how there is freedom in confession.

    Confessions - Part 2 - God’s Immeasurable Mercy - Pastor Kevin Pobursky

    Confessions - Part 2 - God’s Immeasurable Mercy - Pastor Kevin Pobursky

Today, we see how the Lord is calling His people to confess, surrender, and release our grip on our self-serving desire to fix ourselves. We can’t do it without God! When we believe in God and turn to Him in humility, confessing our sin before Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to show us mercy. He can mend what we have broken. Listen as Pastor Kevin Pobursky shares our latest message, God’s Immeasurable Mercy, to experience how God meets with His people when we humble our hearts before a merciful God.

    God's Immeasurable Mercy | Psalm 51:1-2

    God's Immeasurable Mercy | Psalm 51:1-2

Have you ever wanted something good, yet tried to obtain it the wrong way? So often we long to have God's mercy and forgiveness in our lives, yet we undertake false and failed methods of obtaining that mercy. In this second message in the series Confessions: Erasing Shame and Experiencing Renewal, pastor Jeremy Writebol takes us to Psalm 51:1-2 to show us the only basis we can have to obtain God's mercy.

Psalm 51 - No sin is too big!

Psalm 51 - No sin is too big!

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Psalms 51:10-11
Have you ever felt like you've out sinned God's forgiveness? I know I have, but when we read Psalm 51, we realize God wants to forgive us, as He did David, but sin has consequences, as David found out. His consequence was especially since God had blessed him so amazingly, but He still forgave David. God was so unhappy with David that He had a prophet, Nathan, confront David!  Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man! This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. 2 Samuel 12:7
Why did you despise the word of the LORD by doing what is evil in his eyes? 2 Samuel 12:9

David then repented with his whole being and he was forgiven. Let's read this Psalm with and understanding that God wants our whole hearts and when we sin, we repent. As Charles Spurgeon writes, "Although we may have been preserved by Divine Grace from any gross and open sin, yet let us read this Psalm in the spirit of penitence. I always feel afraid of myself if I cannot read this Psalm from my heart. Surely some pride must have entrusted my spirit and taken away its humility and its tenderness, if I cannot join in David’s penitential prayer. I think that all of us who have the Spirit of God within us will feel that these words are suited to us as well as to poor brokenhearted David."

Join me in reading Psalm 51 and be encouraged!

    David and Nathan [David 10]

    David and Nathan [David 10]

    2 Samuel 12 // Paul Brandes

In this sermon, we explore the story of David and Nathan from 2 Samuel 11-12. We see the shocking nature of David's actions and how the Bible portrays the reality of dark chapters in our lives. Hidden sin leads to death and destroys our relationships with God, others, and ourselves.

However, when our sins are exposed, it becomes a display of God's grace. It may be uncomfortable and unwanted, but it is what we need. We are encouraged to pray to be caught in our sins and to run to God for forgiveness and restoration.

As we prepare for communion, we join in a prayer based on Psalm 51, recognizing our need for God's cleansing and renewal. Ultimately, the message reminds us of the transformative power of God's grace when our sins are brought into the light.

Day 130: Nathan Condemns David (2023)

Day 130: Nathan Condemns David (2023)
Fr. Mike touches on the sins of David, and how we can see ourselves in these fallen characters in scripture. God desires a relationship with us free from sin, and although it may be painful, he brings these things into the light not out of anger, but out of love. Today's readings are 2 Samuel 12, 1 Chronicles 16, and Psalm 51. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear. Wash Me, Lord

    Wash Me, Lord
Psalm 51 is a beautiful psalm and prayer of confession. David cries for God's forgiveness, cleansing, and a new heart after his sin with Bathsheba. Let us be quick to confess our sins to him, who is faithful to forgive us and cleanse all unrighteousness.
