    Thanksgiving Turkey Trivia

    Thanksgiving Turkey Trivia
While Thanksgiving is a holiday spent with family and friends to spread thankfulness, it's important to acknowledge the negative history and impact on Native Americans. 11/25 is Native American Heritage day, celebrating the accomplishments, culture, and contributions of Native Americans. In this episode, Chloe and Hayley discuss their Thanksgiving plans and dive into a fun trivia game about turkeys, pumpkin pie, and the festivities of the upcoming holiday season.

    Thanksgiving in the 90s

    Thanksgiving in the 90s

So here in the United states, every year around late November, we like to look back on so many of the good things that have come into our lives, and give thanks.  And I promise you this will get mentioned multiple times during the episode, but I am honestly, truly, 100% genuinely thankful for YOU!  Thank YOU  for giving this podcast a listen, and if you've stuck around through the 18+ episodes that have already come out, an EXTRA BIG THANK YOU!    I truly appreciate you taking the time out of your day to put me in your ears (so to speak).  With so many options out there, the fact that you've given this show a chance means the absolute world to me.  So thank you so much, Happy Thanksgiving, and enjoy listening to me and my buddy Lou, as we talk all about what our Thanksgivings were like, growing up in the 90s and early 2000s.

PoliticsAside: The Rising Cost of Thanksgiving Dinner - A Conversation with the American Farm Bureau Federation

As we head into the Thanksgiving holidays Congressman Porter had an opportunity to sit down with Dr. Roger Cryan, Chief Economist of the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF). The primary topic of conversation was AFBF's Annual Thanksgiving Dinner Survey, which looks at the cost of the average Thanksgiving meal from year to year. Other discussion topics included some of the history behind our Thanksgiving meal selections, rising food costs, the 2023 Farm Bill and the work that AFBF does to support American farmers and ranchers.

Ep. 42 - Hiram’s Gatsby Bday & Gucci Mashed Potatoes

Ep. 42 - Hiram’s Gatsby Bday & Gucci Mashed Potatoes

In this episode I am joined by Jaime and Hiram (virtually) as we start off once again talking about another disappointing Cowboy's loss. In a shocking headline we learn that Oklahoma's coach has left the team for Hollywood.  Local fighter Brandon Figueroa gets his first defeat as the fight goes to the cards. We have a little issue with his opponent's ring attire.

I talk about my trip to Austin over the weekend and how I witnessed the first Longhorn wins in what feels like forever.  I tell the guys that many things have changed over the past 2 years since I've been to a game in Austin.  The tailgate has moved from the surrounding parking lots to right outside the stadium.  Unfortunately you have to pay for the beer.  I said I wasn't going to eat Austin BBQ but when I saw the options in the stadium I opted for the giant tray of Stubb's BBQ Brisket nachos.

We share a little about our Thanksgiving meals and admit we need a little break to make room for the Christmas meals.  We play a little game called Thanksgiving draft.  Each of us takes turns picking one dish to put together a Thanksgiving meal.  Each dish can only be picked once.  There were some interesting choices on this one.  Vote on who's Thanksgiving you are coming to.

Hiram gives us a little more detail about his Gatsby Bday party and takes a moment to appreciate that he is living in Los Angeles, Hollywood.  He gives a run down of the fancy party as well as a friends giving that had an upscale spread of foods as well as Gucci Mashed potatoes.

A bunch of joes that cook like pros!!!

THANKSGIVING: Gluttony. Pilgrim's Progress. Shutdowns. Ticket to Ride.

THANKSGIVING: Gluttony. Pilgrim's Progress. Shutdowns. Ticket to Ride.

This season is devoted to the giving of thanks to God. But as always, we often make things all about ourselves. I’m trying to do better this year, and I hope I can encourage you to do so as well. This week we will discuss the very real problem of having too much of many, many good things; the story of one who got everything he could hope for and was strong enough to get rid of it; the way to find blessings when you believe they are being withheld from you; and the one game above all for which I am the most thankful.
