It’s Punky Brewster: Christmas in July

🎄 Previously on the Advent Calendar House, we saved Punky Brewster’s Christmas spirit in “Yes, Punky, There Is a Santa Claus.”

This time, join Punky in 1985 on an animated adventure to the North Pole, courtesy of Glomer, her new magical leprechaun-gopher Ewok lookin’ friend. The ’80s were weird.

    99: "Saved By The Urkel"

What’s the backwards version of a clip show? What fast food delivery vessel makes for the best carry on luggage? And which TV show’s Halloween episode is even more off the rails than Stevil’s? We resuscitate the answers to these questions and more as we watch Season 5, Episode 3 of Family Matters with special guest Jake Mason.

Alex Diamond, David Kenny, and John McDaniel heard that the long-running network sitcom Family Matters ends with side character Steve Urkel going to space. And the best way to figure out how that happened - obviously - is to watch the last episode first and make our way backwards through nearly ten years of television.

    079: What's your philosophy of life? | Kid 90 (2021)

The 90s nostalgia was heavy with this one. It's like being transported back the world of high school friends, summers in parks, and general hanging out before the days of social media.

This so happens to star the life of Soleil Moon Frye from child actor to teen years with famous friends along the way.

Me, Charles and Mikey talk about this film, our lives in the 90s, and gossip about all these 90s celebs in their youth.

    Kid 90

    Kid 90

You might remember Soleil Moon Frye as Punky Brewster. But in her debut film, Kid 90, the former child star re-examines a decade of her life in the aftermath of the hit show using the format of a highly personal and experimental documentary. Carrying a video camera everywhere she went in the 90s, Frye managed to capture the highs and lows of her friends growing up around Hollywood and New York City, dealing with addiction, heartbreak, and the consequences of fame. The documentary is now available to stream on Hulu, and it features many other former child stars, including David Arquette, Stephen Dorff, Balthazar Getty, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Brian Austin Green, Tori Leonard, Heather McComb, and more.

4月はアニメ / April is For Anime: Robots And Remakes

4月はアニメ / April is For Anime: Robots And Remakes

One of us cracks the code, so you can make that tasty KFC chicken recipe at home.  A debate rages about whether or not it is safe to order food during the Lockdown Era, we discuss the Great American Frozen Pizza Famine, Mike's Ultimate Pizza is referenced, Dave Portnoy with One Bite Pizza Reviews comes up, and of course, pizza is the perfect food.

How some pizza is saving lives because it is still Hot-N-Ready, we are surprised by how quickly all the corporations rushed their heroic commercials to market, and we joke that you cannot even trust the people you live with.

Then we discuss an Instagram follower named Jeff The Killer, who may or may not be a serial killer in the making, which brings up the Wrinkles The Clown documentary on Hulu.

Hentai comes up again.  Where do you draw the line between porn and animated feature films?

We heard The Tiger King couldn't watch The Tiger King show and then, we have to discuss what a prisoner has to do for wifi and frozen pizza.

We pay tribute to the trucker, marine, and actor --- Brian Dennehy, who died recently.
We replay some of his greatest hits.

We rip into remakes such as Valley Girl The Musical, express our feelings on the new Firestarter, we are dismayed by the delay in the new Alien Nation.  However, we are super excited about the Hellraiser remake on the way.

Johnny Spoiler "accidentally" spoils the plot of Cocoon out of sheer excitement.
We lay out the terms of when it is okay to spoil a movie plot.

We fantasize about scrapped Batman movies such as Clint Eastwood playing Bruce Wayne in the cancelled Batman Beyond live action movie.

Finally, we review this trippy and amazing anime anthology about robots called Robot Carnival.
