    • The importance of language in subconscious beliefs, particularly about money, and some book recommendations about reprogramming those beliefs

    • Looking at other people who are living your dream as EVIDENCE that you too can accomplish that if you’re realistic with the resources you need to get there

    • How to take your dreams SERIOUSLY and book that bucket list trip or an adventure to look forward to, like the Euphoric Costa Rica Retreat for AF Women this April

    • Looking ahead to Dry January (which changed Karolina’s life), and the upcoming Dry Bootcamp that kicks off January 9th

Episode 202: What If You Don’t Achieve Your 2023 Goals?

Episode 202: What If You Don’t Achieve Your 2023 Goals?

This episode is a heart-to-heart for big dreamers and goal-setters. Beautiful, your dreams are still worth it, even if you didn’t achieve them in the timeframe you expected. What were your goals for 2023? Did you meet them?

Sometimes we overestimate what we can do in a year, but we can also underestimate how long a goal will actually take.

Today’s empowering conversation with Karolina will fuel you to create more space and inspiration for your goals as you move into the new year. We cover managing expectations, “timeline goals”, celebrating our wins along the way, and why we need to be unrealistic about our dreams sometimes!

You’ll also hear a few examples of how Karolina processes goals not met in her own life and uses setbacks as stepping stones for future success.

    IN THIS EPISODE:

    • Looking at the effort BEHIND the goal: what were the books read? The programs joined? Did you do anything differently this year?
    • How to use lessons from the previous year to do things differently in the next – for example, getting more support or creating more time for a goal
    • How we often underestimate how long things take (our goals are not defined by how quickly we achieve them!) and why sometimes, it’s actually better when things take longer
    • Removing the attachment of self-worth to the outcome and focusing instead on what we did and the work we put in
    • The importance of ENJOYING ourselves as we work toward our goal, because happiness is not getting to the goal – it’s who we grow into during the process!

Episode 201: Do I Have to Be Certified to Coach?

Episode 201: Do I Have to Be Certified to Coach?

Coaching is one of the most fulfilling career paths Karolina has ever experienced. While it hasn’t been easy, it helped her achieve her biggest dreams, like writing a book, getting on TV, and hosting retreats all over the world. It’s a small act that can impact big change, starting with one person helping another, then another, and so on.

So many Euphoric listeners have changed their relationship with alcohol, and after seeing massive epiphanies, transformations, and the joy and happiness that comes out of it, they want to help others do the same. One question Karolina gets often: do you need to be certified to become a coach?

In today’s episode, Karolina tackles this question along with so many others. You’ll learn the pros of getting certified as a coach, the difference between coaching and therapy, the cutting-edge techniques inside the Empowered AF Coach certification program, which allows participants to get certified in FIVE modalities, and the profound impact coaching has in helping people find fulfillment.

Get paid to help others make alcohol insignificant and fulfill their greater purpose. Apply now for The Empowered AF Coach Certification!

    IN THIS EPISODE:

    • Karolina’s journey from $7,000 to $100K in her first two years as a coach (and why mentorship was critical in helping her break 6-figures)
    • The differences between coaches and therapists, including when to use one or the other for your personal growth (coaches are future-focused!)
    • All of the different accreditations, including the International Coaching Federation (ICF), Continuing Professional Development, (CPD), and the International Association of Therapists (IAOTH)
    • Learn more about Karolina’s Empowered AF Certification program, where you’ll get certified as a Mindset Coach, Alcohol-Free Life Coach, Success Coach, NLP Practitioner, and Hypnotherapist
    • What you should put in place before you get certified as a coach, including building your platform and creating a foundation for your business
    • The impact of domino habits: how, when you change one habit (ditching alcohol, for example), it’s easier to change others (like your waking, exercising, and eating habits)

Episode 196: Your Passions Will Make You Money But Are You Giving Them Enough Time and Space?

Episode 196: Your Passions Will Make You Money But Are You Giving Them Enough Time and Space?

🚨Reminder, Become Emboldened enrollment is open until November 7. Take your dreams seriously and join us for 4 months of coaching.

    Become Emboldened

In today’s show, Karolina talks about how your passions and desires can actually make you more money – which is the opposite of what we’ve been taught to believe!

So many people have these twisted belief systems about money: that we are tied to the value we can put on our resume. The idea that we can make money off our passions and creativity is true today, but wasn’t necessarily true for our ancestors, which is why it can be hard to imagine.

Karolina also offers some tough love about devoting time and space for these passions and talks about the strength of empowerment groups like Become Emboldened. Registration is open until November 7th, and this is the last launch of the year, so don’t wait.

Your dreams are waiting for you.

    IN THIS EPISODE:

    • How easy it is to become stuck with bad habits and patterns – and how money especially can keep us stuck and engrained in the “status quo”
    • The false, twisted idea that so many of us have about money: that our monetary value is based on whatever our employer thinks of us
    • Karolina’s early career journey, starting with the mortgage industry, to working for a University and making $30K a year
    • Two new beliefs you’ll want to “try on”, plus the value of creativity when it comes to making money and the powerful realization that changed Karolina’s life
    • The mistakes Karolina made in the beginning of her entrepreneurial journey and how she grew her income by over 1,300% in Year 2!
    • The strength of empowerment groups in helping us achieve our dreams – including Become Emboldened, which is open for registration until Nov. 7

Episode 194: 5 Things You Should Stop Overthinking Immediately – Plus, a Free Workshop!

It’s not selfish or greedy to want more. In fact, the universe is tapping you on the shoulder to live out your destiny and turn on your greater gifts for the world.

Six years ago, Karolina decided she wanted way more than the cubicle she was working in. It’s not that her job was bad – it was fine. She just felt it was time for a change. There was more she felt called to do in the world.

If you want to change your life, you need to shed the past versions of yourself: your past patterns, your past habits, and most importantly, your past ways of thinking that are no longer working for you.

Today’s episode focuses on five things in particular that you should stop overthinking immediately so that you can spend that time and energy manifesting your next steps!

Need extra help? Check out Karolina’s free AF Fire workshop from October 24th-26th. It will be the perfect dose of inspiration so you can move forward on fueling your biggest dreams.

    • How, when you get started, there is no perfect “how to” recipe, plus the danger of perfectionism in those initial steps

    240. The expectation to drink

    240. The expectation to drink

    Unpacking the Weight of Expectations

Have you ever felt the weight of expectations when it comes to drinking? I know I have, and it's a trigger that many of us face. Whether it's about conforming to societal norms or appeasing others, the feeling of being expected to drink can be a significant challenge.

Breaking Down Expectations: A New Perspective

Examine the idea of expectations. Often, they stem from what's considered "normal." We explore the thought process behind expectations and how they can impact our behavior, both personally and in social settings.

Stepping into Empathy: Seeing from the Other's Perspective

Ever wondered how others perceive your choices around drinking? I invite you to put yourself in their shoes. Imagine a scenario where someone else's drinking choices differ from what's expected. How would you react? This exercise helps us better understand the dynamics of expectations and judgments.

    Embracing Authenticity: Rewriting Your Story

True authenticity comes when we break free from the confines of expectations. We discuss how rewriting our stories empowers us to show up authentically, no matter the circumstance. It's about releasing the notion that others dictate how we should behave.

Manifestation and Energy: Shaping Our Interactions

Our energy and beliefs have a profound impact on our interactions with others. We explore how our thoughts and emotions influence how people perceive us and respond to us. It's a reminder that our energy plays a crucial role in shaping our experiences.

The Power of Choice: Choosing Our Reactions

Ultimately, we have the power to choose our reactions to others' expectations. By focusing on our energy, intentions, and grounded presence, we can navigate situations authentically. It's about freeing ourselves from the constraints of assumed expectations.

Embrace Vulnerability: Challenge for the Week

As we wrap up this episode, I offer you a challenge: for the upcoming week, pay close attention to situations where you sense expectations from others. Reflect on whether these expectations are truly from them or if they stem from your assumptions. Embrace your vulnerability and authentic self, and observe how your energy transforms the dynamics.

Thank you for joining me on this journey of authenticity and self-discovery. Remember, you're not alone in navigating these waters. Feel free to share your insights, questions, or experiences with me via email mary@marywagstaffcoach.com.

    239. One and Done

    239. One and Done

Why one and done when it comes to drinking is the dream that leads to deprivation.

Unpacking the Why Behind the Dream

Why do we yearn for that solitary drink? What is it about that one drink that holds such allure? These questions are where we start our journey. It's not about judging ourselves; it's about understanding our motivations and the stories we tell ourselves.

Cue, Craving, Routine, Reward: The Cognitive Model

We explore the cognitive model of cue, craving, routine, and reward. We uncover the intricate dance between these elements when it comes to our relationship with alcohol. From the trigger of being out with friends to the release of dopamine in our brains, we unravel the psychology behind our cravings.

Why One is Never Enough: Unraveling the Chemical Response

Ever wondered why that elusive "one and done" remains out of reach? It's because of the profound chemical responses happening within us. We're demystifying the connection between rewards, dopamine, and our behavior. I invite you to free yourself from any self-judgment and realize that your brain simply associates alcohol with reward.

    Natural Pleasures vs. Artificial Rewards

What about natural pleasures and authentic rewards?  We explore the beauty of experiencing wonder, awe, and joy without relying on external substances. From sunsets to laughter with friends, we have countless opportunities to find sustainable, natural rewards that align with our values.

    Redefining the Reward

How do you reshape your reward system? By shifting our focus from the routine of drinking to the genuine connections and experiences, we create a more profound and lasting sense of fulfillment. It's about pausing during cravings, re-routing our associations, and finding alignment with our values.

Exploring the Aftermath: The Myth of "One"

Ever noticed how that "one" drink never truly satisfies? We dissect the aftermath of that solitary drink, examining the physical and emotional changes within us. We learn that alcohol's effects often lead us feeling worse than before. It's a thought-provoking exploration that encourages us to question the dream of "just one."

Your Empowered Choice: Understanding Your Journey

Remember that you are on a unique journey. Your relationship with alcohol is yours to define and shape. By understanding the stories we tell ourselves and embracing our powerful intuition, we can make mindful choices aligned with our true desires.

You are beautifully powerful and intuitive, and I am here to support you every step of the way.

    Love,
    Mary

    238. When the unexpected happens

    238. When the unexpected happens

Unexpected things happen in life, often. How does your naturally sober self show up? How can you decide ahead of time who you will be in light of challenging situations? Today we will explore the power of deciding ahead of time and how to handle the unexpected in a way that aligns with the version of the woman you are awakening to on the other side of alcohol.

    1. The Birthright of Sobriety: Your birthright is the path of living fully aligned with your true self. Understand that the conditioned behavior of drinking is merely a learned response. You're naturally designed for sobriety, and the addictive aspects of alcohol are just learned patterns. Alcohol's impact lies beyond its social implications and resides in its addictive chemistry.
    2. Boundaries Aligned with Values: Just as you set boundaries in relationships based on values, consider alcohol as something that can be outside of your personal boundaries. Recognize that regardless of how you rationalize or negotiate with it, alcohol remains an addictive chemical that stimulates pleasure responses in your body.
    3. Building Emotional Resilience: We explore the process of building emotional resilience, especially during unexpected and challenging moments. Instead of turning to alcohol to numb or escape, allow yourself to experience the full spectrum of emotions that arise. By tuning into your body and emotions, you create a foundation of strength and inner stability.
    4. The Power of Intent and Alignment: Decide ahead of time how you want to respond when the unexpected occurs. Align with your core values and self-concept to determine who you want to be in those moments. Embrace your sovereignty and create a conscious commitment to your emotional well-being, anchoring yourself in alignment.
    5. Embracing the Human Experience: Dive into the profound wisdom of fully embracing your human experience. Reject the distractions and noise of the external world by centering yourself in the present moment and your personal growth journey. Explore your emotions, learn from your reactions, and evolve as a beautifully intuitive individual.

As we navigate through various perspectives and life situations, remember that this podcast is a safe space for exploring different opinions. Open your mind to diverse viewpoints and contemplate how they resonate with your own journey. Always come back to the importance of feeling, understanding, and embracing your emotions, so you can show up fully present, aligned with your values, and resilient in the face of the unexpected.

    237. Befriending Boredom

    237. Befriending Boredom

Today, we're diving into the power of befriending boredom.

Here's what you can expect from today's episode:

**1. Retrospective Planning: Setting Ourselves Up for Success

We'll kick things off by exploring the transformative concept of retrospective planning. This technique isn't just about looking back, it's about celebrating wins, identifying what didn't work, and creating a blueprint for future success. I'll share how this approach, which I often use with my clients, applies to all areas of life and helps us navigate challenges with grace.

    **2. Letting Go of Expectations

Expectations can be both our allies and our adversaries. We'll chat about the radical power of releasing expectations, especially when dealing with situations involving others. By focusing on our own actions and responses, we can embrace a neutral perspective that opens the door to a more harmonious existence.

**3. Embracing Boredom: A Feminine Approach to Planning

Boredom – it's something most of us experience, yet rarely analyze. Today, we'll explore boredom from a fresh perspective, linking it to the feminine approach of planning life. Discover how boredom offers a unique opportunity for self-discovery, dreaming, and tapping into your own worth beyond productivity.

**4. Alcohol, Boredom, and Rewiring Emotions

We'll look at the intriguing connection between boredom and the desire for alcohol. I'll discuss how alcohol can temporarily mask boredom by altering our thought patterns and triggering pleasure responses. However, true transformation comes from rewiring our emotional responses to circumstances rather than relying on external substances.

**5. Unlocking the Potential of Boredom

The importance of questioning the thoughts that generate boredom. By reevaluating these thoughts and examining their validity, we can reframe our experience of boredom and recognize it as an opportunity for creativity, relaxation, and personal growth.

Join me on this enlightening journey as we explore the depths of boredom, expectations, and the power of introspection. Don't forget to share this episode with someone who could benefit from a new perspective on life's daily challenges. And if you're enjoying the podcast, I'd love to hear your thoughts – leave a review and let's keep the conversation going!

    3. Feminine Mysteries and Rites of Passage: Delve into the unexplored territories of the feminine experience and the unique gifts women possess, such as the ability to feel emotions deeply and experience their bodies cyclically. It's about embracing these aspects without judgment or suppression.
    4. Transitions and Change: We'll navigate the tricky terrain of transitions – whether it's changing locations, routines, or mindsets. Discover the beauty of allowing yourself to fully feel these transitions, even the uncomfortable ones, as part of your growth.
    5. Shifting into Sobriety and Self-Concept: I'll share personal insights into my journey of embracing sobriety and how it ties into the concept of self. Sobriety isn't just about removing alcohol; it's about embracing your humanness, becoming fully present, and reshaping your self-concept in the midst of life's changes.

Join me as we uncover the art of honoring transitions, embracing change with grace, and crafting a self-concept that resonates with your most authentic and empowered self. Remember, my dear listeners, every transition is an opportunity for growth, so let's step into that power together!

Episode 180: Am I An Alcoholic?

Episode 180: Am I An Alcoholic?

    Am I an alcoholic?

It’s the question you might be asking yourself after having too many drinks at a party. It’s the question you might be asking yourself Monday morning after a weekend of heavy drinking.

The problem with this question? It’s too black and white. It doesn’t give many solutions to move forward. Today, Karolina dives deep into the framing of this question, and how to ask even better questions, like “Is alcohol aligned with my values?”

Our goal is to help you find strength in your alcohol-free story so you can reevaluate the role of alcohol in your life and help create a powerful legacy that changes our drinking culture – because ditching alcohol can be empowering no matter how much you drink!

    IN THIS EPISODE:

    • How the question - am I an alcoholic? - assumes you're either a "normal drinker" or an alcohol; in reality, most find themselves in the messy middle
    • Consumption levels in the U.S.; though only a small percentage of people drink heavily, the majority of drinkers drink above health guidelines
    • Better questions to ask, such as, is this making me happy? Is alcohol aligned with my values? Does alcohol help me achieve my goals and dreams?
    • Alcohol's normalized, glorified role in American culture today, and how, as an adult, it's a way to socialize, celebrate, commiserate, etc.
    • The problem with the label "alcoholic" and the new terms for drinking in health and wellness circles
    • Instilling in future generations that they don't need to consider themselves problem drinkers to reevaluate the role of alcohol in their lives
