Steve Odom has been a friend of Raven Wing since the very beginning. A USMC Veteran where he was an infantryman, fireteam leader and squad leader, and was awarded the Nave and Marine Corps Medal for heroism. Also a retired Sgt. from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office, Steve spent 17 years on the SWAT team and was twice awarded the Medal of Valor.

Steve has been a law enforcement firearms instructor for more than 27 years and was the Senior Range Master for the Sheriff's Office. He is P.O.S.T. certified to instruct essentially every use of force discipline including: Handgun, Shotgun, Sub Machine Gun, Long Range Rifle, Less Lethal Baton, Red Dot Sight Pistol, FBI Firearms instructor, Less Lethal Munitions, Advanced Taser and Vehicle Counter Measures.

A lifelong martial artist, studying Muay Thai, western boxing and Brazilian Jui Jitsu. He boxed competitively at an amateur level and holds a blue belt in BJJ. He is currently the CEO and Lead Instructor of Spartan Tactical Solutions firearms training company in San Luis Obispo, CA.

Tim Herron is back! We had the privilege of hosting Tim for back to back classes in September and took the opportunity to sit down with him and chat. We discussed target focus and techniques for teaching the concept, should new shooters start on the red dot or irons, and Tim's journey into Limited Optics where he was the first competitor to earn the GM card. We had our hands full with converting 44 workstations from domain computers to remote ones, migrating files from one office to another, and transitioning 51 users to new RDS servers. This included setting up one physical server with two Hyper-V servers. 

The project is part one of a $150,000 network upgrade. The law firm had seven offices, but due to the pandemic and the shift to remote work, they consolidated their offices. You'll also get to hear about my struggles with an office administrator who isn't an IT professional, and how I navigated the challenge of orchestrating this upgrade for their firm.

Bryan Veliz is back and this time under the relaunched banner of his own company SlyTac Training. And as you have come to expect, we hit him with the hard questions up front: "What is up with names of your classes?" In all seriousness, Bryan is one of the most legit instructors we get to work with and just a solid human being. In town for his class "SOLO" - which we hosted at the Covered 6 facility in Moorpark, CA - we talk about the class, how the relaunch of his company is going and about our own personal training as we were fresh off a training day together constantly pushing to get better.
