S3 EP48 Reinventing In Hollywood, Featuring Debbe Dunning

Who remembers "Do you know what time it is?  It's TOOL time?"  Debbe Dunning hustled her way into the Hollywood scene by never missing an opportunity, and never taking "no" for an answer.  As a result, she became household name, Heidi Keppert the "Tool Time Girl," on one of the most successful and popular sitcoms of all time.   Debbe tells her story and the family she built with the adored cast of "Home Improvement," and how it shaped her life.   Most importantly, how she was able to do what all of us 10 Xs 5s  strive for-- shaking our identities up and reinventing ourselves.  Debbe was able to leverage her time as the Tool Girl to combine both her passions and also her professional experience.  Currently both the producer and star of the show "Debbe Dunning's Dude Ranch Round-Up," Debbe combines her love for equestrian and the dude ranch experience with being on the small screen.  This is a fun, insightful and wonderful behind the scenes story.  GIDDY UP!

S3 EP38 Risks and Rewards of Pivoting Our Talents, Featuring Deena Von Yokes, Self Made Extraordinaire

It takes massive grit and passion to build a career and successful business from the ground up.   However, the courage and determination it takes to evolve and pivot into a new lane and business model is off the charts at our age.  Enter Deena Von Yokes, who after 40 plus years of running her own business, discusses her personal journey of taking a leap into a career path.  Deena built a thriving and financially successful stylist business and elite salon through paying her dues, learning the ropes and channelling her leadership skills and network.   Being a business owner in this industry, and practicing a trade that requires being behind a salon chair, eventually has taken on a physical toll.  Deena refuses to let go of her passion, but instead is doing what we all think about-- pivoting.  Starting an academy for other emerging stylists and a deep mentorship program, Deena is sticking with what she truly loves and taking it to a new level.  Contributor to Forbes and other acclaimed publications, Deena honestly discusses the trials and tribulations of taking a new career direction as a 10 times 5.  Oh...and she is funny as hell.

E133: Liz Thompson: Let your passion define You

Liz Thompson was born on Long Island, NY and studied marketing in college, graduate school and worked as a product manager for several large CPG companies in New York.  She then switched gears, dropped it all, and attended  The French Culinary Institute in New York before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a new path. She owned and opened two restaurants, moved on to teach culinary, and then had to pursue a second career change.  Liz lost part of her sight overnight and had to access her skillset in terms of what angle of the food industry she was the most passionate about and could do mostly at home. Today she focuses on recipe development and new product development, helping individuals launch a food company and get their products to market. Additionally, she is working on her first book on “Baking with Herbs“,  Her mantra is: “let your passion define you, not your disability.”

The Career Activist with Tréasa Fitzgibbon

"𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙚 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣 𝙖 𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚." ~ Tréasa Fitzgibbon

After 22 years in the world of banking in some of the biggest banking centers on two continents,  two things became clear:

    •  women in finance need to be activists in their own career, and
    • Tréasa could have more impact on that from outside the industry.

And so began Tréasa Fitzgibbon's transition from employed banking professional, all-consumed by her work, to a certified executive coach for ambitious women working in corporate / financing, not getting the pay, promotion or recognition their hard work deserves - and not knowing the best way forward.

In a conversation for ALL professional women, we talk about:

    • the little-changed lack of gender-parity in so many industries
    • the wider global impact when women are not at the table where decisions get made
    • what is actually happening in the industry in women's careers
    • the obstacles they face
    • how Tréasa now helps guide professional women through that landscape
    • what it is to be an activist in your own career

Yet another woman who has reinvented her life and is having a huge impact on a very important issue.

Prior to becoming a certified coach, Treasa had 20+ years of success in banking, culminating in a Managing Director role heading up a global sales team in NYC.  With her insider perspective,  Tréasa helps women to navigate their careers and she is passionate about bringing more women to the senior leadership tables.

EP. #35 Business Transformation, with futurist and best-selling author Peter Fisk

EP. #35 Business Transformation, with futurist and best-selling author Peter Fisk

The topic of today’s podcast is Business Transformation, a trip into the future with one of the world’s leading futurists, Peter Fisk.

Corporate leaders, says Peter, spend way too much time thinking about the past, looking at past performance, trying to replicate what made their company successful forgetting that the future is complex, unpredictable, fast coming, and there to be created.

What if they’d choose to spend their time imagining, inventing their future instead?

In this interview, Peter and I will discuss the content of his latest book titled Business Recoded: Have the Courage to Create a Better Future for Yourself and Your Business, which is a comprehensive guide to business transformation full of data, case histories, and an array of 7 shifts, and 49 codes you can use to transform your business and make it relevant for years to come.

From embracing megatrends, like an Aging world, Booming asia, Cognitive technologies, Dense living, and Eco-renewal, to understanding the strategic role network businesses do play in today’s economy, this interview will provide you with knowledge and inspiration.

You will hear stories of courageous leaders who disrupted entire industries, and by getting to know their journey, you will discover not only the strategies which made them succeed, but also the traits of their leadership…..and because the world has changed, and is still changing so fast, so does leadership.

My guest Peter Fisk is also the author of many more best sell”ing books such as: “Gamechangers” Marketing Genius“ “People Planet Profit”, ”Customer Genius“,  “Business “Genius Creative Genius”.

He is an expert consultant to Fortune 500 Companies in four continents, and a speaker with the rare ability to make his audience see a future full of opportunities, which may not necessarily resemble their past.

    Find Karen:  https://mrskarenstanley.com/

    Find Robin: www.QuittingCulture.com

    About Karen:

Karen Stanley is an entrepreneur, professional Mezzo-Soprano, yogi, hiker and laugh-way-too-loud-er. As Amazon’s #1 mate seeking, new release author and frequent self-improvement podcast guest, she explains it best herself:

“Hi, I’m Karen! I’m not a doctor or a psychologist. I was a single mom for a thousand years (OK, eight), and I finally experienced real love after dealing with abuse, going through divorce and facing bankruptcy, foreclosure and repossession of my car – all while raising two kids alone."

After struggling with self-worth and attracting the wrong partner time and time again, she realized if she wanted to manifest the life she wanted, she had to become the person she always wanted to be. Karen believes  that no matter what we've gone through we can experience lasting love.

    Show Notes

We can be intentional about how we live our life and who we become.

If we are finding ourselves repeating the same mistakes or encountering the 'same' difficult relationships over and over, we have an opportunity to look at those situations and ask what the lesson is.

Karen calls this the 'Lazy River', where you keep going round and round with no resolution.

Robin calls it the 'Pebble, Rock & Boulder'. First you get the pebble. If you don't learn from it, it comes back bigger (the rock). If you still don't learn from it, you get the boulder!

When Karen experienced this, she realized that she wasn't attracting the right partner because SHE wasn't who she wanted to be. She couldn't attract what she was not.

Karen focused on key areas of her life and reinvented herself with thoughtfulness and intention. The areas were:

    • health
    • finances
    • family
    • house & home
