Welcome to episode six of A Proper DBE Podcast brought to you by Daughters of the British Empire.
The Daughters of the British Empire is a 501(c)3 nonprofit American society of women of British or Commonwealth birth or ancestry. We share and promote our heritage while supporting local charities and our senior facilities across the United States.
We are a diverse group of women standing together in friendship and charity, joined by a common bond - the Commonwealth of Nations, learning and growing together.
In this episode, host Georgia Abrams is joined by the following guests:
This is the first of many episodes to come all about traditional crafts. We're talking about lace, buttons, and what past queens of Britain may have worn during their time on their throne.

Everybody loves a ren faire! Or at least, that’s what Jennifer is counting on this week with her recommendation of Jen Deluca’s rom-com novel Well Met. She’s totally smitten with the romance between renaissance faire organizer Simon and first-time volunteer Emily, who plays the saucy tavern wench to his dashing pirate. Can Jennifer convince Heather to join her in crowning these two shipworthy?

My fantasy for 2021 is to gather with hundreds of friends at the Renaissance Faire. What can I say, I’m a girl with a simple dream. After a year of solitude, I crave reconnection and social celebration. Desire has the ability to inspire us and create amazing memories. What’s your desire for this year and how will you make it happen?

Maren begins a new story – Fairly A Maiden – which she wrote while working at the Renaissance Faire. “The Renaissance Faire,” you say? “But…I thought you were an opera singer?” (Yes, I am multi-faceted. It’s fun. You get to hear how nerdy I really am.)
