UFC 290 Recap! Round-Up with Paul Felder & Michael Chiesa

UFC 290 Recap! Round-Up with Paul Felder & Michael Chiesa

Paul Felder and Michael Chiesa are back at it again on this episode of UFC Round-Up!

To start off the show, Michael gives an update on how camp is going in preparation for his bout against welterweight Kevin Holland at UFC 291 in a few weeks. Next, the guys give their initial thoughts and takeaways from this past Saturday’s UFC 290 PPV, including Alexander Volkanovski’s dominant win over Yair Rodriguez to unify the featherweight belt. Following that, the pair hit on the co-main event, where Alexandre Pantoja was able to win the flyweight belt over Brandon Moreno in a close fight which was one of the best fights of the year. Next, the duo break down Dricus Du Plessis’ upset win over middleweight Robert Whittaker.

Then, the duo answer 5 rounds of fan questions.

    1. What is Ilia Topuria’s best game plan to beat Volk?

    2. As much as I love Brandon Moreno and how much of a classic that fight was, time for some new blood. No immediate rematch, right?

    3. What do you do with Bo Nickal at this point? He’s made easy work of everyone put in front of him so far but is still new to the sport. Do you continue a gradual ascent or toss him in the deep end with someone like Kelvin Gastelum or Jack Hermansson?

    4. How difficult is it to fight with a broken or fractured bone and have you done that yourselves? Couldn’t believe Dan Hooker won that third round so handedly with the wrist break.

    5. Do you think it’s more beneficial for a fighter to earn their way into the UFC through Dana White’s Contender Series or The Ultimate Fighter?

To wrap up the show, the guys give a shoutout to Robbie Lawler as he won his retirement fight against Niko Price by KO in 38 seconds.

Looking ahead to UFC 290 w/ Robert Whittaker & Niko Price

Looking ahead to UFC 290 w/ Robert Whittaker & Niko Price

International Fight Week is FINALLY here! Matt Serra and Jim Norton kick off the fight week festivities with an incredible show that features two fighters scheduled to fight on UFC 290’s stacked card — former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker and veteran welterweight Niko Price.

Joining the show first is Niko Price, who humbly dishes his thoughts on the honor he feels being able to fight a living legend like Robbie Lawler in the former UFC welterweight champion’s final fight before sailing off into retirement.

Matt and Jim then recap the action from last Saturday’s UFC Fight Night: Strickland vs. Magomedov card while waiting for Robert Whittaker to join the show.

Once Whittaker is on, the former middleweight champion wraps up the show by explaining how the stylistic differences between himself and 5th-ranked middleweight contender Dricus Du Plessis will dictate the terms of their fight on the main card of Saturday’s intriguing pay-per-view.

UFC 282 recap with guest co-host Sayif Saud

UFC 282 recap with guest co-host Sayif Saud

On today’s episode of UFC Unfiltered, the dynamic duo of Matt Serra and Jim Norton return for a recap of last Saturday’s UFC 282 pay-per-view with Fortis MMA owner and head coach Sayif Saud.

Matt and Sayif begin the show talking about the unique motivational and in-fight-advice-giving methods they each use to get a hold of various fighters.

Then, the guys begin a recap of the UFC 282 fights by asking Sayif about what it was like seeing his fighter Alex Morono go from dominating the first two rounds of his short-notice fight against welterweight Santiago Ponzinibbio to getting caught in the third round for a knockout loss.

As the topic shifts to Paddy Pimblett’s co-main event victory over Jared Gordon and the split draw in the vacant light heavyweight title fight between Magomed Ankalaev and Jan Błachowicz, Sayif states his case for how state Athletic Commissions can clean up MMA judging across the board.

The guys wrap up the show by talking about which of the 10 consecutive finishes on Saturday’s card they found most compelling, featherweight Alexander Volkanovski’s quest to become a double champion at lightweight, and much more!

Anthony Joshua defends his IBF, IBO, WBO, and WBA heavyweight world championship titles against Oleksandr Usyk. Although this isn't a unification fight between two fellow Englishmen from the same yard, the difficulties Usyk will hopefully bring to the heavyweight champ will make this fight equally as exciting. In the second part of the podcast, we talk about the three major events of UFC 266: Nick Diaz-Robbie Lawler Part II, another Valentina Shevchenko championship defense vs Lauren Murphy, and the massive main event between the contender series coaches Volk-Ortega for the featherweight championship title!
