Episode 121 of The Popko Project Podcast features alternative rock band Pretty Much Never. Brought to you by Keller’s Garden Center/Keller's Lawn Care And Landscaping Services LLC, Ionic Development, The V-Spot Bar in Scranton, and Axelrad Screen Printing. Pretty Much Never formed in 2022 and have already released a 5 song EP titled 15 Minute City which is pretty impressive considering only 2 of the members in the band have met in person! We talk about the recording process of the EP while members reside in LA (one originally from Jim Thorpe, PA) and Canada, what they do for a living when not recording music, plans for 2023, when they might all get in the same room together for the first time, and more! Rockcast 221 - Shaun Morgan of Seether
Listen, this conversation with Shaun Morgan of Seether involves religion, it involves mental health and drug addiction, it involves the subject of current world issues and of course we talk music too. I Cutter can honestly tell you that it's very rare that a recorded conversation in front of a microphone goes this deep. I have the utmost love and respect for this man. This conversation is filled with brutal honesty about subjects that are not always easy to talk about. This is worth your time.

Seether's 'Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum' is available everywhere now.

The Story of Rock and Roll: S3E13

TSORR Season 3 Episode 13 got off to a not so great start on 12 Nov 2020.  It’s funny because I am reading Matthew McConaughey’s book Greenlights and that is exactly what I didn’t get, the show said ‘connected’ but no green light so I had to start again.  You won’t hear that because I have cut it out but I’m just telling you for interest sake and to explain the reference to an aborted start.  After that, it was plain sailing all the way other than some niggle with the microphone clipping a bit, but it’s only on the first two bits of chatter.

The show was great, we heard a lot of good SA rock with the Burning and L.A. Cobra showing that SA Rock is alive and kicking.  Later on, we took a listen to The Fismits, featuring Rebel Rock Radio’s very own Mark Biaggio on guitar and vocals with a track called ‘Questions’.  We also heard The Color Blew and toward the end of the show Johnathan Martin (happy birthday brother) and SA Metal maniacs Deadline.  The guitar work in Deadline is just so perfect, love those solo’s, I referred to the album as 'Cathedral' instead of Cathedral Point so apologies for that guys.  We had Danko Jones, Seether, Marilyn Manson, and an absolutely fantastic track by The Pretty Reckless.  We played a few songs for America (Ugly Kid Joe and Motörhead)  because, I am so grateful to the US for all the amazing music over the last 50 years, it doesn’t really matter who runs it as long as the world gets its rock and roll.

One of the highlights of the show for me was Queen with 'The Prophets Song' off A Night at the Opera.  I made mention of the fact that it doesn’t get a look in because of that other long song on the album but it’s well deserving of some airtime.  It still sounds fantastic 45 years later.  The other highlight was having a good friend listening in and playing a couple of road-related tracks (Buckcherry's 'Ridin'' and Audioslave's 'I Am the Highway')  in memory of some of the great music we have listened to on roads around the country.  These are the type of songs that form the backbone of The Story of Rock and Roll.  'You Make Me Want To Die' by The Pretty Reckless and 'Little Secret' by Black Country Communion both stood out as did show opener 'Cold Sweat' by Thin Lizzy.

Artists featured:  Seether, Mötley Crüe, Motörhead, Deadline, Linkin Park, Van Halen, Ugly Kid Joe, The Burning, Queen, Def Leppard, Black Country Communion, UFO, The Ramones, Audioslave, The Temperance Movement, Pearl Jam, L.A. Cobra, The Fismits, Edguy, Buckcherry, Thin Lizzy, Marilyn Manson, Mick Jagger & Dave Stewart, Anti-Nowhere League, The Color Blew, Johnathan Martin, The Pretty Reckless, Whitesnake, Danko Jones, Guns ‘n’ Roses, Judas Priest, Bush, Iron Maiden, Warren Zevon, Leslie West

The Story of Rock and Roll: S3E5

The Story of Rock and Roll: S3E5

Season 3 Episode 5 of The Story of Rock and Roll Radio Show took place at 7 pm on 17 Sept 2020.  Finally, the microphone quality is right and we are very close with the volume levels now.  The show kicked off with a track called ‘Hit The Ground Running’ off an EP by an Aussie band I saw in a pub in Perth around March 2010.  It was such a great little band and even though they are long ago broken up, it’s a real little gem and deserves airtime.  Next up we had Fastway, with ‘All Fired Up’ and then we got into the better-known bands, Motörhead, White Zombie, Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, stuff like that.

New releases included the brand new Marilyn Manson with the title track of his album We Are Chaos and another track from Seether’s latest album Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum called ‘Pride Before The Fall’.  We had Punk with the Damned and Stiff Little Fingers, we had some Pixies and we nailed the metal with Children of Bodom and vintage Metallica and Megadeth.  The grunge was ably handled by Alice in Chains and the Stone Temple pilots and Johnathan Martin and The Univited took care of South Africa.  We were a bit light on the local stuff this week so expect a double dose next week.  There was a little moment of self-indulgence where I said goodbye to little Libby a dearly loved family Italian Greyhound who left this earth on Monday.  Asking Alexandria said the words in ‘Dedication’ and Zakk Wylde played a moving solo in ‘The King’.    All in all one of the best episodes in a long time I believe, see for yourself.

Artists featured:  Seether, Metallica, Tom Petty, Pixies, Fastrack, Five Finger Death Punch, Stiff Little Fingers, Zakk Wylde, The Uninvited, Marilyn Manson, Alice in Chains, Blackberry Smoke, Van Den Berg, Motörhead, U.D.O. Children of Bodom, Bruce Springsteen, Johnathan Martin, Sammy Hagar, Fastway, Megadeth, Krokus, Whitesnake, Foghat, Warrior Soul, The Rolling Stones, White Zombie, Sixx A.M., ACDC, Iron Maiden, Rose Tattoo, Slash’s Snakepit, Stone Temple Pilots, Black Sabbath, Scorpions, Asking Alexandria, The Beatles & the Damned.
