#55 – Stress Management Tips to Prevent Breakdowns, Burnouts, and Collapses

I totally wish that instead of trigonometry and other worthless stuff, my high school had offered classes like self leadership, emotional regulation, and especially ... stress management.

As a coach, I see a lot of stress. And here's the truth: most people feel helpless against it.

We experience too much too fast.

We have a lot of traumas (big and little T) that keep us disconnected from our bodies.

Because of that disconnect, we often don't even recognize stress until it's screwing up our health, relationships, jobs, and enjoyment of life.

    Enough, I say!

This podcast episode is the stress class I wish I'd had in high school. We'll learn:

    • What is stress?
    • What's a stress collapse, and what are some signs you're on the verge of one?
    • How to start reconnecting to your body in ways that feel safe
    • Positive coping mechanisms
    • My 5-step process for managing stress in a healthy way.

As mentioned last episode the platform I use for RevolutionZ has installed an AI facility. It "listens" to the podcast, proposes titles, generates a description, and does some sound balancing, i think. The titles are not crazy, but I ignore them. It also generates a transcription. I suspect before long such facilities will generate translations as well...

This episode is about ownership relations and workplace decision making both  in capitalism and, more so,  as proposed for a post capitalist economy called participatory economics, and also about a way to think through conceiving and assessing any kind of social vision.  It includes material from the book No Bosses, published two years ago, and also current comments on that material generated when I recorded this episode.

The AI generated the following description, included below.. Sadly, it is good enough so I can imagine many podcast creators using this facility either for a draft to edit or for a final copy.

    ---

Bold claim, you say? Here it is - the traditional capitalist concept of ownership is fundamentally flawed and needs a radical overhaul. This provocative episode dives into the hot debate on the capitalist ownership of productive assets, from resources and tools to entire workplaces. We examine the stark difference between personal ownership and the immense power that comes with owning these productive assets. We discuss how we can create a just economy where workers are rewarded fairly for their work and those unable to work still get a fair share, with a portion allocated for collective needs like healthcare and public infrastructure.

How do we foster collective self-management in our institutions and make everyone an integral part of the decision-making process? This episode pulls no punches in exploring this complex subject. From understanding how individual decisions can impact others to the necessity of involving everyone in the decisions that affect them, we discuss it all. We delve into the challenges of making temporary assumptions in economic visions and how this leap of faith can transform our workplaces into more egalitarian spaces.

Finally, we venture into the realm of workplace decision-making under the banner of collective self-management. We discuss how to tackle variations within the workforce and manage decisions that have wider implications. The process of generating and assessing proposals for new institutions comes under scrutiny and we share insights on how people might choose their workplaces based on their preferences for decision-making procedures. This episode will challenge your preconceived notions about capitalism and inspire you to imagine a more equitable, self-managed future.

We round off the episode with a deep dive into collective decision-making and how we can create an environment where every worker and consumer is prepared to make important decisions. We explore the issues of class relations and class rule, how decisions can be made effectively within teams, and how different decision-making procedures can be chosen to best approximate self-management. Don't miss out on this thought-provoking episode that aims to challenge the status quo and propose better solutions for the future. Tune in and join us in our journey towards a more equitable economy and society.

0035 - Blame game, conflict management and the fundamental attribution error

0035 - Blame game, conflict management and the fundamental attribution error

Most people wish to become better at handling and resolving conflicts, but out of the dozen or so things that get in the way, one of the main blockers is the fundamental attribution error.

It sounds like a bit of a mouthful, but it is actually one of the easiest cognitive biases to understand. Of course the precursor being that you actually want to understand better rather than seek validation for what you think is already right.

In this episode of The Unlearning Playground Podcast, I delve into this topic in an easy-to-understand and simple manner. I talk about what this cognitive bias really is, how to spot it in your everyday life and I also suggest 3 ways to help overcome it in situations where we most need to.

I think, once you get to seeing things from the perspective I try to build in this video, you would be well on your way to managing conflicts in a much more responsible and mature manner. This should enable you to be better at people skills which, as any adult in the room would tell you, is eventually what most of life is about.

I'll see you in the playground.
Hope you bring an open mind and an honest heart.
    Until next time.
    Peace out.

    ep 208 Ruminations Hounding Myself

    ep 208 Ruminations Hounding Myself

Episode 208 of RevolutionZ is me interviewing me - thus the tile, Hounding Myself. As interviewer I can be a bit more aggressive with myself than other interviewers tend to be. It may not be everyone's delight, but I had assembled some questions I would like to be asked and I decided, well, okay, why not ask myself. Some of it is familiar ground for regular listeners, some not. And I have to apologize. Hours ago, when I was editing it, I discovered that somehow there  appears an intermittent periodic low level noise, not unlike some weird kind of drum. I don't know what the hell it was but I decided not to scrub the whole thing. Hopefully it won't be overly distracting. Me and Me are rather loud. Also, this episode one is long, almost two hours. You put me together with me and I guess that's what you get.

    What is YOUR REALITY? | 2 Chicks & a Mic - PART 2

Did you know that we can listen to something once and then when we listen to it again the second time we hear something completely different?

I am saying this because although I have spoken about several topics multiple times, I am in complete “awe” when I discover more about anything.

For example, in this episode, my gal Salome Valdez and I chat about choices that we’ve made and we question whether or not we’ve made those choices for ourselves or because other people want us to make those choices. There is so much awareness in this chat.

Have you ever wondered about that? Interesting right?

Listen up and see how you can relate to this topic. (This episode is PART 2 of 2)

IN THIS EPISODE, I TALK ABOUT:

What choices have you made that are completely yours?
What outcomes are you afraid of when you're not choosing your own reality?
How can you find you own reality?
Does timing have to do with your true choice awareness?

If you loved this episode, it would mean the world to me if you SUBSCRIBED to the podcast on your favorite podcast app and give it a 5 star review. I would be forever grateful! Thank you!!

2 Chicks and a Mic “What if your wrongness was your strongest”

Woah! 2 Chicks and a Mic is back and as always we talk about our life experiences and ask questions about the possibilities.

In this chat we chose to explore the question of “What if your wrongness was your strongest”.... I know, I know it seems pretty confusing, but as always we have a back up story for you.

For example, I’ve always been different from everyone else since I was a kid. I had the ability to feel other people’s energy. I recently just talked about it with a friend of mine. I kinda even wanted to get rid of my ability… but my friend brought up a good point….

What if my ability can make me more money? Ooooo that was good to hear…

IN THIS EPISODE, I TALK ABOUT:

What if your special ability can make you more money?
What has been your reality since you were a kid that it’s no longer yours?
What are the stories that you bought from everyone else?

If you loved this episode, it would mean the world to me if you SUBSCRIBED to the podcast on your favorite podcast app and give it a 5 star review. I would be forever grateful! Thank you!!
