    #047 - C2-KILLERINSECT (1993)

    #047 - C2-KILLERINSECT (1993)

Ameisen,Spinnen, Bienen, Schnecken: Schon so manches Kriechviech fiel in Filmen blutdürstend über arglose Menschlein her.

    IT (1990): "Beep-Beep, Stephen King"

    IT (1990): "Beep-Beep, Stephen King"

Before we dive right in, can we get a little group “Awooga, awooga!” going for Handsome Ben Hanscom from IT (1990)? A poetry-writing cutie patootie as a kiddo and John Ritter in a bolo tie as an adult, he’s one of the best parts about the TV miniseries (which Sydney insists should count as only ONE movie, to be clear). However, this not-quite-double-feature has a LOT going for it, including Tim Reid as the smartest man in Maine, Tim Curry as a terrifying and tantalizing clown, and Annette O’Toole’s Beverly Marsh kissing all of her friends on the mouth. On a new Spooky Tuesday, we’re revisiting the childhood classic in honor of Sydneypalooza, a.k.a. Syd’s big birthday celebrash.

What If...? - Episode 7, "What If... Thor Were an Only Child?"

Josie and the Pussycats (Justice for This Entire Film!)

Josie and the Pussycats (Justice for This Entire Film!)

This week Zach and Sloane discuss 2001's musical comedy cult classic: Josie and the Pussycats. The duo discuss feminism in film, the gaslighting of BIPOC in the music industry, and of course, Joey McIntyre. This week they make it a whole 22 minutes before discussing pedophilia which leads to Sloane telling everyone her very first AOL screen name which, surprise, surprise, was incredibly inappropriate. The team talks 90's boy bands and asks the question, "Am I sexual?" The answer of course is "Yeahhhhhhhh!" Zach discusses the time he (recently) went to a New Kids on the Block concert and Sloane has a complete mental breakdown when she talks about one day hopefully getting the chance to hug Brendan Fraser. All that and more on this week's Mummy Dearest!

    What If…? - Episode 2, “What If… T’challa Became a Star-Lord?”

Another day, another universe, as Assembly Required gathers to ponder “What If… T’challa Became a Star-Lord?”  This second episode of the Marvel Studios animated Disney+ series WHAT IF…? takes us to a universe where the Ravagers accidentally abducted young Prince T’challa of Wakanda instead of Peter Quill of Missouri, and to say things turn out differently is an understatement. Join Peach3z, Chris, Robbie, and Patron Daniel as they discuss a kinder, gentler Thanos, Nebula’s hair, surprising voice actors, and what it means to have one final performance from the late, great Chadwick Boseman as T’challa. Also: a special announcement about Eduardo!

TFG Ep. 74: The Bad Batch: Ep. 10 "Common Ground" Spoiler Special, Bad News for Star Wars: Detours Show, The Acolyte Show has Promise, and Book of Boba Fett Star Didn't Know What Show The Were Shooting

In episode 74 of The Force Geeks: A Star Wars Podcast, Nate and Jake are joined by by their brother in the Force Chris Ridlon as they put the tenth episode of The Bad Batch, "Common Ground" under the microscope for a spoiler review. The Geeks also discuss Star Wars: The Acolyte show runner Leslye Headland's vision for the writer's room for this new chapter in the franchise and why there's so much promise for this new series based upon what inspired her fandom and love for the Galaxy far, far away. Also, it appears there is some bad news on the possibility of us ever seeing Star Wars: Detours, which is a show created by Seth Green and his team behind Robot Chicken. Green recently shared what, if any future there is for the show that already has 39 completed episodes.

The Geeks also discuss how one of the stars of the upcoming The Book of Boba Fett didn't even know that was the show they were shooting. Check it all out in this episode of The Force Geeks!

Episode 216: United States of "America's Sweethearts"

Episode 216: United States of "America's Sweethearts"

It's time for "America's Sweethearts." Two of the biggest movies stars in the country break up and lie to the press about their relationship just so they can sell a crappy movie. So I guess it's based on real life? There are sooo many people in this movie. Walken. Cusak. Crystal. Roberts. Zeta-Jones. But I would bet no one remembers it, which is a shame because it's pretty funny. It's a good middle-of-the-day-with-nothing-to-do-but-watch-a-mindless-movie movie. And it's free on HBO Max! We rightfully pair it with a Cabernet Sauvignon from Slow Press.

Movie Sync Notes: We watch the movie on HBO Max. We start "America's Sweethearts" 5:08 into the pod, push play on part two 37:44 into the pod, and push play on part three 1:24:42 into the pod.

It Is Time For It (Clowning Around With Pennywise And A Deep Therapy Session)

It Is Time For It (Clowning Around With Pennywise And A Deep Therapy Session)

On the latest episode of Nick Nack Goes To The Movies, we dive into a story as old as time, the battle with fear itself.  Another horror series in the It films, both the miniseries as well as the modern 2 parter.  But more than just another scary movie that features Tim Curry, Seth Green, Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, and of course Bill Hader, in its media adaptations.  Here we have an amazing story about grief, trauma, getting over loss, friendship, coming together, and just growing up.  This scary coming of age story has it all.  Who doesn't want a free therapy session while watching something spooky AF?  The horror genre does so well with its exploration of trauma, and these movies see how that impacts kids in the present, as well as how they all grow up.  This Stephen King story is great and you will want to join Pennywise the Dancing Clown down here in the sewers to float down here with the rest of us.  But with this tough year we have all had, maybe we can come through this episode, and part 2 of pandemic living, and rise up and be the better for it all.  So time to take a deep emotional ride with me, I sure open up, that is when not talking about WandVision.  So let me know which version or movie moment was your favorite or least favorite on social media, at either @NickNackMovies and @NickNack_IC on Instagram, Twitter, and Tik Tok.  The hottest or most interesting take in the Nick Nack Mail Bag will be shared on the next episode!  And keep an ear out for my amazing Pennywise impression attempt!

Episode 36 - The Cornetto Trilogy Bonus - Idle Hands

Episode 36 - The Cornetto Trilogy Bonus - Idle Hands

Well we had an open slot for a horror comedy, so I figured this would be a good chance to slide in Idle Hands from 1999, a movie that I've always loved even though truth be told it is objectively not super great, but what it lacks in traditional movie quality it makes up for in fun.  The premise is ridiculous, the physics are questionable at best, but you can't not have a good time watching this movie, it's bloody messy fun.

050: Nobody drink the beer, the beer has gone bad! | Can't Hardly Wait (1998)

Me and Mikey talk our trip to the theater to see this film when we were 15. Then we talk one of the best 90s teen rom-com house party films with the cast list that never ends. And why we're still looking for those 40 mins of deleted scenes all these years later...

Episode 116: "Austin Powers" That Be

It's week two of our nation-wide social distancing experiment and it's time to release a new episode featuring the spoof-tacular "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery." It's the first in the Austin Powers trilogy, which makes it sound fancy. We pair it with a sauvignon blanc from the Marlborough region called Spy Valley. Movie Sync Notes: We start the movie 4:17 into the pod and push play on part two at 1:00:20.

    Episode 28 Idle Hands

    Episode 28 Idle Hands

We're keeping the month of October spooky with our take on the 1999 film Idle Hands.  This is a little bit of a different horror movie due to it brings comedy into the mix as well as crazy gore scenes and call backs to the original scary movies them selves.  Give it a listen and tell us what you think.
