In this special release I speak with Steve King who was announcing at the event to get the rundown of what happened over the three days in Noosa this year at UM Australia.  I also speak with Shane Duffy to put a final pin in his record breaking six 515 races in a year.  

Each of the champions, Simon Cochrane and Dee Fuller also stop in for a chat about how the race unfolded for each of them.  Simon set a new world record time of 19:48:47 while smashing the previous UM Australia record by over 1:30 minutes.

UM Australia is the focus of this episode.  I have a chat with race director, Jeff Morris, to preview a few of the 45 athletes who are toeing the line in Noosa this weekend.  Like most 515 races, the line up includes some big names with lofty goals like Richard Thompson and his sub 20 challenge, and some people who are just challenging themselves to complete the distance.   We discuss the variety of situations that bring people to take on a 515 event..

My athlete in profile is New Zealand’s Simon Cochrane.  Simon is a pro triathlete with 37 Ironmans on his resume but is taking on the 515 distance for the first time.  He is the owner of Athletic Peak, a coaching and conditioning business which focuses on supporting athletes along their endurance journey.  Building to the lead up of UM Australia, Simon has recently topped the podium in a couple of ultra runs including winning “the claw”, a feat not previously attained at the Blue Lake 24 hour Challenge.

Today’s Ohana guest, Manmadh Rebba, is a multiple finisher of 515 races and ultramarathons.  His ultra journey has taken him from a company 5k to completing the Moab 240.  In his day job he works as an architect and project management consultant, and he uses that as a metaphor for his new endurance coaching platform - Re-Design Me.  He wants to help athletes, especially Indian athletes, to find the path to live Aloha, Ohana, and Kokua while living a sustainable lifestyle. 

We speak about a number of topics including his volunteer work with Big Brothers and tutoring homeless youths for which he received a Presidential Volunteer Service Award in 2016 from president Barack Obama.

The lads cover the last few international games including  Ireland's doomed world cup qualifying campaign that as always was so close yet so far.

• Kenny's Kids got a taste of their own medicine against lowly Azerbaijan and oh was it bitter as they dropped two much needed points last weekend.
• However a great point was won against second placed Serbia thanks to our joint top goal scorer in qualifying, Own Goals
• Brazil having been waiting a long time to stick it to those Argentines as they try to arrest some players in the middle of the game for a breach of quarantine rules and the lads ponder would we do the same to England given the chance.
• The Brazil FA are also turning on their own as the seek the help of FIFA to punish every Brazilian man woman and child in the UK for not togging out against Lionel Messi
