The Money Block I Didn't Realize I Had

The Money Block I Didn't Realize I Had

Money can be a sensitive topic for many of us, and it's not uncommon to feel embarrassed or ashamed when discussing finances– business, personal or otherwise. But did you know that these feelings can actually be a block to your next business breakthrough?

On today's episode, we're taking a deep dive into the world of money mindset and exploring how our beliefs about money can impact our ability to earn and grow our wealth. I’ll be sharing with you my super raw and personal experience attending a 2 day “money mindset” workshop last week and exactly what I uncovered about my own relationship with money (hint: it was NOT what I expected!)

Through our raw and unfiltered conversation (wait, can I call it that if I’m the only one talking? Oh well, I just did), I hope to inspire you to become more conscious of your own money mindset, so that you can start generating more revenue for your business and transforming the lives of those around you.

    In this episode, we'll cover:

    • How the money stories and beliefs we adopted as kids can impact our ability to achieve success in business and in life.
    • How to uncover your own relationship with money and spending, and identify the limiting beliefs that may be holding you back.
    • How to choose which story is going to be true for you, and start questioning the narratives that we run in our mind.
    • The three key aspects to look at when it comes to money, so that you can gain clarity and improve your relationship with money.

"I am" not what you say I am.

"I am" not what you say I am.

0:00 "Hey It's Me" Introduction and Invitation

0:25 The DeMystification Description Offered Today, a solo episode where the focus is about YOU. What does that feel like? What does it look like? Being you...

0:49 How do you feel saying"I am."

1:00 Am I being controversial by participating in this"I am" craze? Are you triggered or upset by this taboo fad?

1:29 Why does everyone care so much how you finish those 3 Simple Letters, those 2 Itty Bitty Teeny Tiny Words? Why, why is it so important to know every aspect, every fiber of what"I am" means to you?

2:03 It's time to go inward and think about what "I am” means to you.

2:15 "I am sorry."  was how I used to end the "I am" statements until I figured out who I really am

2:30I am not what you say I am.” Was my main motivator for how I discovered my most authentic self. How I describe and choose to feel when I say “I am.”

3:00 When we look at what we are saying when we say, "I am" at the very beginning, at the seed of change within the capacity of knowing what that means to you, and how "you are" statements have affected you. "You are" statements must be separated from the subconscious mind. Those statements that completely created who you are today, in your mind. Well those who were the most important very often said you are to you.

4:05 Imagine back to the first time...way back to when "you are" probably sounded loving. "You are so special". "You are perfect." "What a cute baby you are."... Go back in your memories, go back far enough ...to the nurturing and loving statements.

4:50 Through no fault of your own, you grew up, didn't you. Every day in every way your body and your mind grew bigger and older and your brain stopped acting like a sponge and your body eventually ended up what your body has ended up.

5:15 Now all of a sudden the child hears, “you are” in very confusing ways. You are lazy spoiled. You are not trying hard enough.  Well, I am not sure what “you are” statements created who you are today. Do you think they are true?

5:41 When we hear "you are" and feel an internal need to fight back, when we feel the rage begin to boil, a need to prove them wrong. That is not how we find our authentic, our true, “I am” statements.

6:11 I am not what you say I am. I am not lazy. I am not spoiled. I am not selfish. Whatever you fought back with. That isn’t who you are. By knowing who you are not. By knowing what you are not. You haven’t yet actually experienced who and what you are.

6:47 The most beautiful and amazing thing about hypnotic coaching in my personal experience has been The Transformational Process of seeing each and every one of my clients figure out who they are.

    🎼I am strong 🎼 I am the greatest🎼

7:10 I didn't know that’s what I was doing. In the beginning. I am going to confess. I thought I was helping people lose weight. Quit smoking. Getting over heartache. What I am really doing, what I love about my job, is removing the confusion of who somebody actually is that allows them to stop fighting about who they are not. Because all that battling is stealing your joy, it is stealing your shine.

8:06 as soon as I knew accepted and loved my I am the way I am now, well it simply became so easy to stop arguing with people who refuse to see me. Other People’s Perspectives are not my responsibility. Other People’s Perspectives are not your fault (OPPs) Each and every single brain has its own thing going on. Focus on yours. Focus on YOU!

9:00 by doing that...the ripple effects will be amazing, enjoy getting to know who you really are. Thank you for focusing on you!

Thank you for joining in the conversation today. Thank you for focusing on yourself today.

Hot Take: I Failed, Publicly and Here’s What I Learned

Hot Take: I Failed, Publicly and Here’s What I Learned

In August, I merged my speaker coaching business with Emily Hall’s presentation design agency… and last week we announced our decision to untangle ourselves back to separate companies. I won’t try to hide it – it’s been an emotionally difficult few weeks, but we’re both super optimistic (and still BFFs).

In this episode, I'm getting real, raw and vulnerable as I share with my the behind the scenes that lead to this decision, what I’ve learned along the way and a message to remind you that when you learn to change and adapt with purpose, you’ll become even stronger.

    Episode Highlights:

    • Elephant in the room: let’s talk about my business failure highlight reel (Ugh! I can't help but cringe at the memory)
    • Messy conversations in business—learn how you can courageously lean into this and serve you well
    • Untangling my business partnership— why we’re going back to solo entities
    • A peak at what’s to come in this now solo chapter of The Speaker Co, including the WHY behind my new program, Signature Talk Accelerator

    About the host John Lim:

John Lim has had an unconventional career by Singapore / Asian standards - with several career switches. He started his career in banking before co-founding a laser tag events company. After building the business from ground-up, growing the team to 20+ and running Singapore's largest indoor laser tag center, he joined an early-stage tech startup to lead business development across Southeast Asia. In 2019, he took a leap of faith to join the e-commerce industry, seemingly unknown sector, until a few months later when Covid-19 pandemic brought the world to its knees.

While John finds himself lucky to have 'survived' the career switches relatively unscathed, he has never forgotten how it feels like to be at the crossroads of your career and life. Now, he has started this podcast - to provide the resources and perspectives he wished he had - and to help you make the most of your career to live your best life.

Join him as he speaks with unconventional career changers and risk-takers, taps into their experiences and perspectives and discusses all things career. Together, they will provide you nuggets of wisdom, inspiration and actionable insights to start living life on your own terms.

What To Do When Your Confidence Gets Shaky

What To Do When Your Confidence Gets Shaky

When was the last time your confidence took a hit? Maybe a failed launch, or not getting enough views on your Instagram stories? How about unsubscribes from your list? Or a negative review.

Shaky confidence happens to everyone, especially entrepreneurs building businesses.

Think about it. You’re quite literally building something you’ve never done before, constantly learning new skills, tech and tactics. Of course you’ll question yourself, feel like a fake or consider burning it all down, every now and then.

But what you do in those moments matters. Do you get back up quickly? Do you spiral out? Do you look to others for validation? Or push through reciting affirmations?

Confidence seems “fluffy and intangible, but often shows up in a physical manifestation. On today’s episode we’re talking about how confidence impacts your business, how to recognize the symptoms of lost confidence and what to do when it inevitably shakes.

    Episode Highlights:

    • Why we think and feel that confidence is a fluff
    • Confidence (and lack of confidence) can take a lot of different shapes
    • What it means when you’re confident 100% of the time
    • Reflecting questions to redirect your thinking and help you build your confidence back—these made a profound different in my career and business
    • Plus confidence boosting tips that I do whenever my confidence shakes

Summer Sads & Reading Slumps with Amber Burns

Summer Sads & Reading Slumps with Amber Burns

On this week’s episode, we have Amber sitting down at the mic to talk through how the change of seasons can impact our routines, our behaviors, and how our bodies feel. We know Seasonal Affective Disorder often hits in the winter as the doom and gloom of darker days set in, but we don’t hear a lot about the summer blues. Summer is supposed to be nothing but bright happy days, but what about when it isn’t?

Amber talks through what it’s like to have an “energy crisis” in the summer, the research she’s done on the topic, and her personal experiences dealing with and combatting the effects that summer Seasonal Affective disorder can have on our daily lives. If you’ve been feeling down, whether it’s the general state of the world or hormones doing their thing, you’re not alone and this episode is for you!

Comparison is the Thief of Joy. Practice an Attitude of Gratitude Instead

Comparison is the Thief of Joy. Practice an Attitude of Gratitude Instead

Comparison is the thief of joy. - Jon Gordon

In this episode of the Happy Hustle Podcast, I share a couple insights on how you can compare and despair less and how you can Happy Hustle your dream reality.

We sometimes fall into the trap of self-comparison. This usually happens each time we turn on the TV, scroll through social media, or be it with friends.

Living the most satisfying life possible requires being content and planning your feet where you are. You’ve been greatly blessed, and you owe it to the people in your sphere of influence to be the best version of yourself every day.

Whether you’re wiping down tables or running a company, or both, when you live with integrity, you are filled up.

When you do the right things the right way and do them with excellence, you feel whole. You are fully content and you can sleep well at night.

When you become aware of all the wonderful things you have, you will feel instantly uplifted.

So, be grateful for everything you have and for the little things that happen in your life every day.

Don’t let comparison steal your happiness, my friend.

If you can follow these simple steps to overcome the ultimate thief of joy, then you've already taken a big leap forward.

How often do you wake up in the morning and instantly wish you had just another hour of sleep? You hit the snooze button and hope the next time your alarm goes off, you’ll feel more energized.

We all have those mornings and the worse part is trying to turn your brain ON to keep up with the demands of the day…

Maybe you didn’t get enough sleep…you have brain fog…your energy is low …you just can’t concentrate…

Imagine having control over how you feel and being able to turn ON your brain within 10 minutes of waking up (without coffee or caffeine)!

It’s like a “Do Not Disturb” feature for your brain.

I’ve personally experienced this over the past few months since trying Nootopia.

Nootopia is the most advanced brain support and cognitive enhancement system that I've ever tried. They specialize in personalized brain supplements, also known as Nootropics.

It’s safe, natural, and non-addictive. And, you can choose blends that don’t have caffeine if you’re caffeine sensitive. And unlike other products, there are no crashes, no jitters, and no after effects.

I highly recommend the Nootopia System for anybody looking to take their focus and mental game to a new level!

They also stand by their products with a 365-day money back guarantee.

Go here now and experience your best mood and mental performance with personalized Nootropics.
