Scott Pinyard is the owner and coach at Modern Coparent, a company dedicated to helping people find peace while coparenting. Scott’s focus is in helping people through challenging growth with compassion, patience and humor.

Scott shares his personal story of modern coparenting and how he came to be a coach in this area. He explains how our lives are built on story and how these stories inform how we parent and coparent. Wendy and Scott discuss some of the most common coparenting stories, why we often get stuck in patterns that don’t serve our kids, and how we can step into personal responsibility once we get clear on our stories and replace them with new beliefs that serve us better as individuals and parents. Scott provides some accessible, practical tips for parents who are currently in conflict and seeking more peace around how they are coparenting.

Pt 3 of 3, Christopher hosts Richard Capriola, author of “The Addicted Child’s” A Parent’s Guide to Adolescent Substance Abuse”.   In this segment we start the conversation about success.  He believes that treatment does work.  Treatment needs to sought out and applied.  The success is found by finding what is best for the child.  It’s very important that the parent gets a complete picture of what is going on with their child through the use of assessments.  The assessments help diagnose the condition.  Dr. Capriola is working to get this book into everyone who has a child to have this information at their finger tips to feel better prepared to deal with this issue if it presents itself in their lives.  He also has a parent workbook to help them work through their needs. logo

This is part 2 of 2.  I found this great article by Kate Bayless, "8 Boundaries Stepparents Shouldn't Cross"  I read the article and comment.  In this segment, I discuss boundaries 5 through 8.

They are 5. Getting involved in arguments between your stepchild and your spouse.  6. Ignoring or countering the wishes of the ex.  7. Bad-mouthing the ex.  8. Pressuring your new partner to always put you first or seeing your stepchild's need for one-on-one time with his parent as a threat to your marriage.
