SUMMER REPEAT: Marriage: It is Easier to Blame You, Than to Work on Me!

It is so sad to currently be living in a ‘blaming’ society. It is even worse to see it happening in marriages. Why is it that individuals would rather blame their spouse, for the issues that they suffer within themselves? Why hurt the one that you supposedly love by doing this? What is preventing you from just facing your demons, in order to be a better you? So many questions, but the King’s are going to dive in. Feel free to share. Blessings.

Suffering in Silence, Mentally and Emotionally

Suffering in Silence, Mentally and Emotionally

So, my question for you today is…are you suffering in silence, mentally and emotionally? There is no doubt that many, many people are suffering in silence because of our unfortunate pandemic, but I’m also asking this question because for years, I suffered in silence on such a private level that not even my husband, the rest of my family, or my dearest friends had any idea I was feeling the way I was. Why? Because I was very good about smiling and saying how fine I was. Can you relate? Has this been your story for a while? In this episode, I’ll be sharing my own personal experience, as well as three things you can begin doing now to become better.

How to Disagree and Not Leave | Yvette + Glen Henry

We meet Yvette and Glen Henry, married nine years with four kids. Yvette and Glen are the hosts of the "How Married Are You" Podcast. After months of Glen coming home from work unhappy, Yvette asked Glen to consider being a stay at home dad. Through his time being a stay at home parent, Glen created "Beleaf in Fatherhood," proving great fathers exist one day at a time. It started as a YouTube Channel, and it's now so much more, a community and a resource for families. The Henry's are vulnerable about their journey of being a family that shares their life online - it's not about fame or success; it's about the purpose their family is called to.

Coping in Community Instead of Suffering in Silence – Daryl McKillian

Coping in Community Instead of Suffering in Silence – Daryl McKillian

“In order to bear God’s image, we need relationships and community.”

As we continue into this unprecedented time of shelter at home, isolation and loneliness have become a common experience. But the past few weeks have also offered a new understanding of what it means for someone to be homebound and feel disconnected. Now, more than ever, we are recognizing how vital it is to cope in community instead of suffer in silence. So what are some of the barriers that keep us from being transparent with one another and choosing isolation over community? Today on the podcast, Crystal is talking with Daryl McKillian, Co-pastor of Reconcile Church LA and Senior Manager of Theological Engagement at the Joni and Friends Christian Institute on Disability. In this conversation, Daryl is taking a deep dive into Scripture to show why it is so important to cope in the context of community whether you are rejoicing or suffering. Daryl is also offering practical ways that community can be lived out, even in the midst of a pandemic.

*Joni and Friends was founded in 1979 by Joni Eareckson Tada who in a diving accident was left a quadriplegic at 17 years old. Ministry began as Tada, joined by friends around her kitchen table, responded to letters she received from people with disabilities in search of support. For more than 40 years, the ministry has grown to serve thousands of people impacted by disability worldwide: Joni and Friends has delivered more than 180,000 wheelchairs and Bibles through Wheels for the World and provided Christian care to 63,000 special needs family members through Family Retreats. The organization also equips individuals and churches with disability ministry training and provides higher education courses through the Christian Institute on Disability.
