Breaking generational curses isn't always spiritual (Reading the Bible, going to church, praying). Sometimes breaking generational curses are going to therapy, AA, rehab etc. Other times it's breaking generational behaviors like lying, quick temper, fighting, impatience, etc. You have to start with yourself first.

Mental Health Awareness Month

Do you believe that not having a healthy mental health can negatively affect your relationships? Many do not realize how much toxicity and abuse that they take on due to those whom they are in relationship with (work, home, church, organizations, etc.). Jordan Thorpe talks with Antoinette as she shares how God called her to break the generational curse in her family.

It was an honor to interview DWayanna and help her share her story of trauma and God's beautiful redemption.

Dee's story is one of breaking generational curses and healing from trauma.

She encountered God through fasting and praying, enabling her to heal from her experiences. By establishing a deeper relationship with God, she was able to share her story of being raped with supportive friends.

Ultimately, her friend validated her experience with a message of God’s assurance and love. This inspired Dee to want to use her own experiences to help others understand that there is a life of blessings on the other side of the traumas they have endured.

Dee believes "skin to skin" time with God can break generational curses and help cultivate a greater sense of safety and connection with our Creator. Through this, Dee believes we can create a safe and supportive environment to transform our society for generations to come.

Traumatic events ripple like waves in an ocean, often extending beyond the individual who was directly involved. Intergenerational trauma stems from a reaction to a harmful event which then shapes or creates a lifestyle due to unresolved stored emotions.  This trauma can affect relationships, self-worth, parenting, attachment styles, communication, and overall physical and/or mental health.

This episode is much longer than the usual, and for good reason. We lean in to unpack what generational trauma is, how we have seen it reflected in our lives, societal struggles, and of course methods to heal. In true Soul BBQ fashion, we are lighting the torch on the elephant in the room and taking our power back. You are invited to join us.
