Ep564 Clarity Comes by Replacing Busyness With Intentional Time With God - Marianne Howard

Ep564 Clarity Comes by Replacing Busyness With Intentional Time With God - Marianne Howard
In America, we’re overworked, overcommitted, and say yes to way too many things. This is the viewpoint that author and speaker Marianne Howard holds. If this sounds like your life, her words of wisdom will be the solution you’re looking for. “We’re being driven by a fear of a better offer instead of a fear of missing out,” she explains, pointing to the damage that digital-age envy has done on the current generation. She advises Christians to lean into the scripture of James 1 and realize that the enemy is here to steal, kill, and destroy. Make time and space to talk to God, pray, and listen for His wisdom and direction in your life. Marianne also stresses the importance of intentionality and creating a special time every day to be with the Lord. TAKEAWAYS We do not recline into attentiveness The definition of intentional is closing the gap between knowing and doing You will need to make some willful, deliberate choices when it comes to finding a silent space and getting clarity from God Embrace these four words: silence, solitude, stillness, and surrender

Why You Have Struggled To Make Time for God

Why You Have Struggled To Make Time for God

Why do we struggle to make a change that we know will be for our good? Even when you feel confirmation from the spirit that it is something good and important?

Why do we struggle to even make time for the one being in all of creation who has our best interests at heart, and loves us perfectly and wants to give us all good things?

Why is it so hard to make time for God?

I'm not here to convince you to make time for God. Odds are, you already want to make time for Him.

I'm here to help you discover WHY it's been so hard to make time.

    "I don't have time."

This is a belief that pretty much... ALL of us share!

    And guess what?

It's not as true as you may think it is.

Even when all of your friends and family agree with you.

In this episode, I will help you see how this one little belief is keeping you from being able to make the change that will bring God into your life, on a more regular, powerful basis.

For some extra help in discover what beliefs are keeping you from making time for God, come book your "Try it Out" coaching session with me. An hour of discovery, awareness and empowerment.

4 Helps for A Better Devotional Life

4 Helps for A Better Devotional Life

Looking to enrich your devotional life in 2024? Not sure where to start?

Here are 4 helps for a better devotional life...

The fast-paced American culture has often shoved aside family priorities and thrown away any sense of meaningful and healthy conversation. The table has become a decorative household item versus a wholesome desk of fellowship and support. And I get it. Some days are harder than others, and sometimes you simply just don’t have the time or energy. But I think that the benefits of being together at the dinner table far out way some of the inconveniences.

Isn’t it the same way with our Jesus? He invites us to pull up a chair at His table. He wants our fellowship and longs to give us the nourishment that we need for our souls. But we get too busy and side-tracked to notice what He has prepared. We come and quickly consume what is on our plate without ever considering Who put it there. Or we rush into His presence, vent to Him about our problems, and never stay long enough for Him to share His heart. Our conversation is filled with a plethora of “I want” or “Why can’t You” statements. All the while, if we would just be still, we would know that He is God, and He has everything we need.

This is why your time alone with God matters.

What you do in the secret place is essential to your personal growth and your influence as a Christian. It is the foundation that holds up every good thing in your life, and it is the vitality of your mind and heart. When you immerse yourself into the vast ocean of God’s Word and prayer, your soul is refreshed, and your life forever altered.

Trying to turn over a new leaf can’t ultimately change you.

Working hard to fit in with cultural trends can’t sustain you.

Living by legalistic standards by just pushing through and doing more will not lead to lasting change.

Only a genuine and wholesome relationship with Jesus and His Word can satisfy your soul. And even though most of us know our time with God is vital, staying consistent is the hard part. Life happens. Tragedy comes. Plans change. And all that we are left with is the guilt of not having an emotional high from our devotions every day. Our perfectionism kicks into our spiritual life, and we just feel like failures. But let me encourage you by reminding you that this life is a walk with Jesus. Sometimes you know where you’re headed and other times you are just thankful to take another step. Regardless, Jesus longs to spend time with you each day and bring you into His presence.

So, what can you do to deepen your walk with Jesus right now, in this season of life? What habits can you implement each day for a full and nourishing devotional life?

46: Breaking the Cycle of Trauma - Interview with DWayanna Gore

46: Breaking the Cycle of Trauma - Interview with DWayanna Gore

It was an honor to interview DWayanna and help her share her story of trauma and God's beautiful redemption.

Dee's story is one of breaking generational curses and healing from trauma.

She encountered God through fasting and praying, enabling her to heal from her experiences. By establishing a deeper relationship with God, she was able to share her story of being raped with supportive friends.

Ultimately, her friend validated her experience with a message of God’s assurance and love. This inspired Dee to want to use her own experiences to help others understand that there is a life of blessings on the other side of the traumas they have endured.

Dee believes "skin to skin" time with God can break generational curses and help cultivate a greater sense of safety and connection with our Creator. Through this, Dee believes we can create a safe and supportive environment to transform our society for generations to come.

    127 - More Than a Quiet Time

    127 - More Than a Quiet Time

"Quiet time" is a common term in Christian culture. For many, it means time alone with God and traditionally looks like reading one's Bible, praying, and journaling for 10 minutes in the morning.

If this is what you are doing—yes and amen. Those times are good, however, in this episode, we challenge you to more than a traditional quiet time. We want you to truly commune with God, which—we argue—won't be as intimate if you only think of and speak to Him for 10 minutes each morning.

Join us as we discuss  what it looks like to have "more than a quiet time" in order to practically build intimacy with God and know Him.

    Two Worlds II

    Two Worlds II
    • Ephesians 1:3-7,NLT- All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.
    • 4, Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.
    • 5, God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.
    • 6, So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son.
    • 7, He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.

    • Jesus alone, through His sacrifice, by His grace makes us accepted in God’s family.

    • This is why Paul could boldly say, “Its only by the grace of God that I am what I am.”

    • So today, as we gather around the Lord’s table, get this reality settled in your thinking; we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing. We are chosen by Him to be holy before Him. To the praise of His grace.

    • At the end of the day, when it comes to God’s grace and goodness, the question we’ve all got to answer is; just exactly how much of what God tells us do we honestly believe?

    • Seriously, if God, our Father tells us we’re forgiven, blessed, prosperous, favored, healed, why wouldn’t we accept what He says as truth? Why shouldn’t we believe, do and say what my Father tells us?

    • Whether you’ve walked with Jesus most of your life, or you’re just starting your journey,
    • Because of human nature, because we have an enemy, there will be times when we question the things of God’s unseen kingdom.

    • Remember, we belong to two worlds. The choice of which one we live out of is ours. I’ve set before you life and death, blessing and cursing, you choose.

    • Romans 8:5-6,NKJV- For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
    • For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

    • And it’s in these times that we can come to the Lord’s table, free of all sin, made completely righteous by His sacrifice, that sometimes is the reminder we need.

    • I probably say this every time we take communion, but let’s be real, we all need reminded, encouraged about what Jesus did for us. To set our mind on spiritual things.

    • This is Paul’s point in Ephesians, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing.

    • Communion is one of the most spiritual things we get to do

    • It’s a divinely inspired place of revelation from the Father. Allowing us to see that Jesus alone made us worthy to stand in His presence. He made us heirs to the Kingdom through His sacrifice.

    • May the eyes of our understanding be enlightened, that we can embrace the hope of His calling, so that we can walk in the riches of His glory, that we function in the exceeding greatness of His power.

    • You see, some of the most spiritual clarity and revelation is around the Lords table. Starting with, Jesus said, this bread is his body broken for us. The cup is his blood shed for us.

    • John 6:51,NKJV- “I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever...”

    • John 10:10,(paraphrase), I came from Heaven to give you a rich and satisfying life. A better life than you've ever dreamed of. A life to enjoy in abundance, to the full, till it overflows.

    • Today as we worship Him at His table, according to Hebrews, when we come to the Lord, we have to come to Him in faith.

    • In the faith that it’s only because of Jesus, only by His grace that any of us are able to stand in His presence.

    • To have the privilege of being able to commune with our Creator.

    • Communion isn’t just acknowledging Jesus’ sacrifice, it’s embracing and reverencing the fact that Jesus actually restored us to our rightful place with God.

    • Today as we honor and reverence our King’s sacrifice, let His Spirit minister to you, embrace what Jesus did, what He said, embrace who you are because of Him.

    • Ephesians 2:4-6,NKJV- God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
    • even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together,
    • and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

    • This is why having moments like this, around the Lord’s table allow us the privilege of drawing closer to Him. Of seeing clearer, who we are in Him.

    • Remember, Jesus has already made us alive together with Him and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Him.

    • And even though we belong to two worlds, because of Jesus, while still in this world, we’re no longer of it.

    • Understand, we’re not just citizens of Heaven, we’re heirs to the Kingdom, appointed ambassadors of our King, assigned here to establish the very same dominion our Father started everything with in Adam. And is now in Jesus.

    • Truth is, our biggest battle isn’t really the devil, or other people, it’s our refusal to embrace a life beyond our humanity.

    • This is why I love to make communion a special time, I truly believe communion allows us the privilege of coming boldly into His presence. Acknowledging and embracing exactly what Jesus did for us.

    • Ephesians 2:10,AMP- For we are His workmanship, His own master work,
    • a work of art created in Christ Jesus,
    • reborn from above,
    • spiritually transformed, renewed,
    • ready to be used for good works, which God prepared for us beforehand, taking paths which He set, so that we would walk in them, living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us.

    • And there is no better place to be reminded, no better place for fresh perspective, no better place to draw closer to Jesus than around the Lord’s table.

    • Let today's communion remind you that you are righteous in God’s sight by Jesus' sacrifice. You are a brand new creation in Christ.

    • Here’s the thing, until the born-again actually embrace the realities of our new nature, God’s grace and everything about His world will stay a mystery.

    • 2 Peter 1:2-4,NKJV- Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,
    • as His divine power HAS GIVEN TO US ALL THINGS that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,
    • by which HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO US exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature.

    • One of the most incredible realities about God’s grace, about His divine power is that it’s 100% based on His word and His character, not our conduct.

    • And the blessed assurance every believer has today is that regardless of what we might face, Ephesians makes it very clear, we are in Christ and He is in us.

    • And I love how the apostle Paul provides simplicity and clarity to our new lives in Christ; anyone united with Christ gets a fresh start, a new creation. The old life is gone; a new life is underway. All because God settled the relationship between us and Him.

    • Communion reminds us not only of what Jesus saved us from, but what He saved is to.

    • Think about it, we're going to Heaven, the place of no more pain, suffering, crying, and death. Communion stands as a memorial of an empty cross and an abandoned grave.

    • Communion takes each of us back to when His incredible gift of grace changed our lives forever.

    • Today as we gather around the Lord's table, embracing His amazing grace, we give Him a glory and honor, proclaiming His resurrection until He returns.

    • Communion stands as our eternal memorial of God's amazing grace.

    • Maybe this is why God told the apostle Paul, "My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness."

    • You see, this is one of the most awesome things grace does, it transforms us into the new person He's already created us to be.

    • And through faith, we believe it, we accept it and experience it.

    • Yielding to this kind of undeserving love and power is what enables every believer to rise above their old nature.

    • Peter says it like this out of the Message, What a God we have... Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now!

    • Remember, communion is 100% spiritual. It’s a divinely inspired place of revelation from the Father.
    • Boldly proclaiming Jesus alone made us worthy to stand in His presence. He made us heirs to the Kingdom through His sacrifice.

    • May the eyes of our understanding be enlightened, that we can embrace the hope of His calling, so that we can walk in the riches of His glory, that we function in the exceeding greatness of His power.

    • 1 Corinthians 11:26,NKJV- For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.

When The Last Time- John LoBuglio

When The Last Time- John LoBuglio

When’s the last time you brought someone to Jesus?

I sat there just trying to think of the answer then the guilt sank in as I said “never”.

Good Church goer, faithful in my serving, giving. I could read more and pray more, but I seem to neglect the Great Commission or the call on all of our lives.

No condemnation we all miss the mark, thats why we are thankful and need Jesus…

Then the excuses ran through my head…. I am busy with work, No one will listen to me, I am not comfortable….

How many of us know we can come up with a million reasons we can’t do something, but we have the ultimate Trump card….. Jesus!

We got to stop keeping that card up our sleeve and play it more often…

The world is going crazy out there… heck its going crazy in here sometimes! When we deal with people we get all that goes along with it.

But this is why we need to stop coming to church, but be the church. Thats the way we reach people is by meeting them where they are at.

On your job, at the grocery store, the DRs office, where ever you are at Jesus is also there. Will you allow Him to move through you?

All of this is going to take intentionality and being on purpose for Him. Will you allow Him to use you?

As a believer what do you have to lose? Nothing,

but the hurt, the lost, the broken they have everything to lose and they need us to step into the gap for them and bring them to the cross.

More times than not, folks first experience with Jesus is with us, His followers!

As we unpack this tonight there are 3 words to remember

    • Information
    • Revelation
    • Transformation

Think about it as your journey with Jesus starts as information. Someone shared with about Jesus and this thing called the Bible.

Time in the word and in prayer that information becomes revelation.

Although not the only way God reveals things, it has been the way I experience it. Some may have a road to Damascus experience.

With revelation comes transformation of you and your spirit life.

Often times we flip these around.. We try an modify our behaviors before we feel good enough to be in His presence.

This is just not right…. If we spend time with Him, He will give us revelation. Truth that just runs so deep. With the revelation it will transform you. It will change you from the inside out.

So lets stop trying to change from the Outside in.. Let Him change you from the inside out!

Let me use a personal example to share this thought.. I have been a follower of Jesus since my early 20s, but it wasn’t until I turned 28 that I had a revelation of God as provider.

I remember having the information of tithing, the 10%, He will meet your needs, how much more does He love us than the Lillies and the birds ?

For years this was all information… Because it was just that, the information can change and my opinion or view point could change. I remember my last church I was 1 Sunday from pulling my family from the church due to the talk of tithe. I was snagged up.

I remember asking God to give me a sign to pull my family. Instead of that He gave me a revelation of God as provider, God as my source. Tithing stopped being a legal obligation and became a joyful thing. Amanda and I stopped fighting about money or not having enough.

Because that revelation caused transformation. I no longer worried about not having enough, because God always made sure we had enough. It may not always of been surplus, but it was a enough. The funny thing about the pursuit of money is it never ends.

Unless you get a revelation that Jesus is enough. You can be broke, but live like you have it all, because you do, you have Him inside of you.

There are still things that I am leaning in on. Right so healing, I believe He is a healer, but I don’t have that revelation yet. But I will tell you what when I do aint nobody going to take it away from you.

One day I will be like Wendy and get that revelation and with it the No More Motrin mindset!

Information can be changed, Revelation does not!

So if you don’t know where to start, start with the information in your Bibles, because that will become revelation keep pressing and keep seeking God for it. He will give it to you..

Ok, back to our Calling… Reaching others! Lets take a look at

    Matthew 28:18-20 NLT

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

This was just information to me, until that day the question I was asked When was the last time?

In that moment no longer words on a page, but a call and purpose for the words and actions. No longer to live for ourselves but for Him

My prayer is that you will spend time with these words and seek the revelation.

What I am talking about is not always easy, we will be ridiculed, we will get stung by those closest to us.

Make the daily choices on what you know and not what you feel.

Revelation stays with you and pushes you through it….. But are not alone in this!

Lets take a look at 1 Corinthians 3:6-9 NLT

“I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.

It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering.

What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose.

And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.”

I love this we are in this together, but in the end it is God who makes it grow. We do not need to force it, we simple sow a seed, sow a seed, sow a seed.

I think sometimes we can become paralyzed with inactivity because we are overwhelmed. But it is not all on you, we all have a part to play, but Gods is always bigger!

God gives us the opportunities He puts people in our path and in our lives on purpose.

That co-worker? That boss? That soccer mom, the other drivers on the road…. We have opportunities.

How will you answer those calls?

    Step up to those opportunities?

Meet people with where they are at?

Not be afraid to Share Jesus

It starts tonight as we walk out these doors.

Church lets choose a life that outlives us.

Generations can be impacted by answering the call

Last thing and then lets pray… Become a pencil in the hand of God and help Him write a new chapter.

I know we don’t normally do this on a Wednesday, but tonight we will. If you don’t know Jesus as Lord we want to give you an opportunity

    Lord Jesus

come into my life and make me new

    From this day forward

    Jesus is my Lord

    Heaven is my home

And I will never be the same

    Lonely

    Lonely
