"In a relief for Kerala news channel Media One, the Supreme Court today lifted the ban imposed by the central govt last year. On January 31, 2022 MediaOne channel was taken off air after MIB decided to not renew the channel's license in the absence of security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Court passed the judgment in a special leave petition filed by Madhyamam Broadcasting Ltd (MBL) - the company running the channel. It had challenged the Kerala High Court verdict upholding the ban imposed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The channel's editor Pramod Raman and the Kerala Union of Working Journalists had also filed separate petitions challenging the High Court's judgment. The Supreme Court struck down the ban and pulled up the Ministry of Home Affairs for raising national security claims in ""thin air"" without facts. The top court said critical views of the channel against government policies cannot be termed as anti-establishment as an independent press is necessary for robust democracy.

A Supreme Court bench of Justices K.M. Joseph and B.V. Nagarathna had harsh words to say on the role of the state in taking action against incidents of hate speech. The bench was hearing a petition asking for contempt of court action against the Maharashtra government over their alleged failure to act against hate speeches during rallies. The petitions alleged that the state government was ignoring the Supreme Court’s own directions when dealing with processions of the Sakal Hindu Samaj. The Supreme Court bench had also asked authorities to take relevant action against proponents of hate speech without waiting for a complaint to be filed. The Supreme Court, on Wednesday, repeated its concerns over failure of authorities to take prompt action against instances of hate speech. “State is impotent, state is powerless; it does not act in time. Why do we have a State at all if it is remaining silent?” in very stringent words Justice KM Joseph aired his anguish during the hearing. Yesterday, Advocate, Mr. Nizam Pasha, appearing for the petitioner, had apprised the Court that the contempt petition has been filed based on a news article published in the the Indian Express, which mentioned that 50 rallies spurring hate has taken place in Maharashtra in the last 4 months.

In a major ruling today, the Supreme Court today suggested a complete overhaul of the way Election commissioners are appointed to the institution. The Supreme Court said that there has to be a collegium that sends the suggestion of the names to the president for approval just like in the case of CBI. It also had some harsh comments media. The ruling comes at a time when several opposition parties have raised questions over fairness and integrity of the Election commission. In a shocking development yesterday, the Election commission of India allotted the symbol of Shivsena: bow and arrow to Eknath Shinde. The decision was announced by the Election commission on Friday evening, almost eight months after the coup Shivsena by Eknath Shinde that led to vertical split in party and subsequent collapse of the MVA govt. The decision of the ECI is a huge setback for Uddhav Thackeray. Not only the symbol but ECi also cleared the name of the party in favour of Eknath Shinde. The ECI had earlier allotted different names and symbols to both shivsena factions. Shivsena UBT for Uddhav Thackeray group and symbol of Mashaal and the name Balasahebanchi Shivsena+ symbol of Dhaal and Swords to Eknath Shinde. However, in a major jolt to Uddhav Thackeray, the symbol and party name has been given to Eknath Shinde effectively given him the control of Shivsena the party. It must be noted that this matter is subjudice and a batch of petitions, challenging disqualifications, speaker's decisions etc are being heard by the court. the next date of the hearing is 21st of February. However, Uddhav Thackeray said that he will approach SC against the ECI's latest order as well. However, today let's talk about the Election commission order. मुंबई के चर्चित शीना बोरा हत्याकांड में एक नया मोड़ आया है। इस मर्डर केस की आरोपी इन्द्राणी मुखर्जी की वकील ने दावा किया है की शीना बोरा अभी भी ज़िंदा है। उन्होंने मुंबई की विशेष सीबीआई कोर्ट को बताया की पांच जनवरी को गुवाहाटी एयरपोर्ट के पास उसे शीना बोरा की तरह नजर वाली एक लड़की दिखाई दी थी. इसके बाद अब मुंबई की विशेष सीबीआई कोर्ट ने एयरपोर्ट अथॉरिटी ऑफ इंडिया (एएआई) को निर्देश दिए हैं कि वह पांच जनवरी की सीसीटीवी फुटेज मुहैया कराए और शीना बोरा की तरह दिखने वाली लड़की की सच्चाई का पता लगाए. 

एक बार फिर सुप्रीम कोर्ट में नफरती बयानबाजी को लेकर एक अलग मामले में सुनवाई हुई. सुनवाई के दौरान अदालत ने क्या कुछ कहा? और हमारे देश की अदालतों द्वारा कट्टरपंथियों के जहरीले नफरती बयानों पर हैरानी के बीच इसको लेकर पुलिस और सरकारों के रवैये में कितना बदलाव आया है जानेंगे इस विडियो में. 

"कोर्ट ने कहा कि 7 दिन में अतिक्रमण हटाने का फैसला सही नहीं है. सुनवाई के दौरान जस्टिस संजय कौल ने कहा कि इस मामले को मानवीय नजरिए से देखना चाहिए. जस्टिस कौल ने कहा कि मामले में समाधान की जरूरत है. सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कहा, 50 हजार लोगों को रातों रात बेघर नहीं किया जा सकता. रेलवे को विकास के साथ साथ इन लोगों के पुनर्वास और अधिकारों के लिए योजना तैयार की जानी चाहिए. जस्टिस कौल ने कहा, सबसे ज्यादा परेशान करने वाली बात ये है कि जहां लोगों ने 1947 के बाद नीलामी में जमीन खरीदी है, वहां आप उस परिदृश्य से कैसे निपटेंगे. उन्होंने कहा कि आप निश्चित रूप से लाइन का विस्तार कर सकते हैं. लेकिन वहां जो लोग 40, 50 और 60 सालों से रह रहे हैं, उनके लिए पहले पुनर्वास योजना लानी चाहिए. - जस्टिस कौल ने कहा कि यह एक मूलभूत मानवीय मुद्दा है. आपका विचार भूमि पर विकास करना है. किसी को निष्पक्ष रूप से इसमें शामिल होना होगा और प्रक्रिया को छोटा करना होगा. कुछ पुनर्वास के हकदार हो सकते हैं. कुछ नहीं हो सकते हैं. इन सबकी जांच करने की जरूरत है. साथ ही आपको यह सुनिश्चित करना होगा कि आगे कोई अतिक्रमण या आगे का निर्माण न हो.
