What is a Death Doula?: Their role at the end of life.

In today's episode, I speak with Annie Whitlocke a Death Doula from Melbourne, Australia. Annie explains her role as a death doula and how the privilege of caring for those coming to the end of their life has reinforced the importance and value of talking openly about death, during life. This episode of What About Death is hosted by Tsultrim and this episode was edited by Kiara Fauzi. On Death and Dying with Nicholas Goodman

On Death and Dying with Nicholas Goodman

Nicholas Goodman talks about his experience working in a hospice and how he has learnt to sit with death and dying. Death and dying are subjects that are very taboo in the western world, keeping death and the process hidden from view, as per the norms in western medicine as well. Comparing this with Eastern beliefs, that grieve and mourn widely in public, we can see why so many of us in North America are afraid to die. In this conversation, we talk about processing the death and dying of our family and loved ones, and the impact that this grieving process has on us.
