The hardest episode we've ever done! We Wish Will Was HERE

The hardest episode we've ever done! We Wish Will Was HERE

In this weeks episode Monica Monique and Zeee try to get through a day without breaking down. Monica talks about a client order that she regrets taking and how that order turned out.

Monica and Zee get into a conversation about their friend Will who worked at the fabric store next door to Monica's Boutique.

Will was the best friend, the best business neighbor and just all around a good human. For the 8 years Monica has had her store she has seen Will 5 days a week. He was often her store body guard, pest control and pretty much volunteer employee. In those years for the past 5 years Zee has also gotten to know Will as a friend and confidant in so many ways.  He was a part of our daily routine with work, laughter and conversations about life.

In all our future plans we included Will. Monica often talked about opening a fabric store of her own and having  Will run it. As well as Zee made sure to  let Will hear our podcast first before we ever aired it. We knew in our hearts that as we got older and more successful that Will would be a part of our success.

Our hearts are truly broken by the loss of our dear friend. We can still hear his laughter and his loud voice having joyful conversations throughout the business neighborhood as we walk up the streets. We know he is and will be truly missed by his friends, family, neighbors, business neighbors and even the people just walking up the street who won't see his smile anymore.

We will love Will forever and he will stay a part of our businesses as we go on, he is still a part of our success.

Honoring A Legacy A Story of Devotion, Faith, and love 152

Honoring A Legacy A Story of Devotion, Faith, and love 152

My beautiful wife, Allison, joins me for a heartfelt and powerful conversation as we open up about a difficult time in her life and honor the legacy of her beloved grandmother, Doris. We remember the joyful memories from Doris's life, such as a lighthearted "Bring Your Daughter to Work Day" at the local Shop and Save, and the significance of a cherished photograph. Together, we explore the world of Doris and the importance of Seal Rock in Soco for her care, delving into the unforgettable moments we shared, like the family Thanksgiving in the common room of Doris's first apartment.

Navigating the challenges of dementia care, we discuss the importance of forming bonds and the power of memories, reflecting on the special connection that Allison and Doris shared. The heartbreaking moment when Allison had to inform Doris of her husband's passing - and their 65 years of marriage - is a poignant example of the difficulties we faced. Yet, we find solace in faith and the incredible strength it provides during times of loss.

As we honor Doris's legacy, we share the spiritual connections, the inspiration she provided, and the memories that will always be cherished. Through faith and love, we find the courage to share this powerful story, hoping to make a positive impact on those listening. Join us on this emotional journey as we celebrate the life of a remarkable woman and the lessons she taught us along the way.

On Death and Dying with Nicholas Goodman

On Death and Dying with Nicholas Goodman

Nicholas Goodman talks about his experience working in a hospice and how he has learnt to sit with death and dying. Death and dying are subjects that are very taboo in the western world, keeping death and the process hidden from view, as per the norms in western medicine as well. Comparing this with Eastern beliefs, that grieve and mourn widely in public, we can see why so many of us in North America are afraid to die. In this conversation, we talk about processing the death and dying of our family and loved ones, and the impact that this grieving process has on us.
