    1963 (Part 3)

    1963 (Part 3)

It's time for one of those huge episodes. Well, it's a three parter anyways. 1963 was not the most ground breaking year for horror movies, well, as far as the big hitter films are concerned anyways. The highs are really high & the lows are few & far between. But, what do I think was the very greatest horror movie that came out during 1963? Well, here we have the top 10. The worst 10. A slew of also rans. Some awesome mates. Some special guests. Several pints of beer and over 4 hours of running time split over 3 episodes. This is 1963, A Year In Horror.

Dissecting The Haunting of Hill House Novel by Shirley Jackson

Hello, horrorphiles. In our first literary dissection, we examine the 1959 horror novel, The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson. This classic haunted house book was the basis for The Haunting (1963 and 1999) as well as The Haunting of Hill House series on Netflix.

Episode 401: Powering Through "The Haunting"

Episode 401: Powering Through "The Haunting"

Happy Season 4 Premiere! Since it's Fall, we're kicking off our new season with a seasonally appropriate movie, "The Haunting." It's the 1999 reimagining of the the story originally told in the novel The Haunting of Hill House  by Shirley Jackson, and it's distinctly late-90's. This movie was so over the top that it proved to be great material for Scary Movie 2. We pair it with Sixth Sense Syrah.

    Metacritic Score: 42/100

Movie Sync Notes: We watch a purchased version of "The Haunting" on Youtube. We start "The Haunting" 13:28 into the pod and push play on part two 1:17:35 into the pod.

#037 - Spuk im Corbitt-Haus (Call of Cthulhu Spielbericht)

#037 - Spuk im Corbitt-Haus (Call of Cthulhu Spielbericht)

    93: The Haunting (1963) and Suspiria (1977)

    93: The Haunting (1963) and Suspiria (1977)

In honor of Halloween, the theme for this week is horror. "The Haunting" (1963) is a film about a creepy old house that may or may not be a living entity (1:52). No ghosts or gore, but plenty of psychological terror for those who dare spend the night. Based on Shirley Jackson's "The Haunting of Hill House". "Suspiria" (1977) comes from Italy and is a pure mess but has enough uniqueness to keep one's interest (33:40). It's not every day you see death by a room full of razor wire. Both Matt and Adam thought the director saved the day on this one and made it worthwhile. Beware, it's dubbed in English.

Next we kick off Noir-vember with "To Live and Die in LA" (1985) and Shimmer Lake (2017).

    Thanks for listening!
