Welcome to 066 of Choose Film: A Reel Retrospective podcast.

Grab your broomstick, get lost in the woods and find yourself talking to a demonic goat as we discuss Robert Eggers' folk horror debut The VVitch.

    Synopsis
In 1630 New England, panic and despair envelops a farmer, his wife and their children when youngest son Samuel suddenly vanishes. The family blames Thomasin, the oldest daughter who was watching the boy at the time of his disappearance. With suspicion and paranoia mounting, twin siblings Mercy and Jonas suspect Thomasin of witchcraft, testing the clan's faith, loyalty and love to one another.

    #2 Horror & Happy End – The VVitch (2015) / Silent Hill 2 (2001)

Wuff wuff!

    Achtung!
Triggerwarnung: Kim spricht über Suizid zwischen 00:57:58 und 00:59:08.

The Witch (2015): "Black Phillip, the G.O.A.T"

Who knew that we had this much to say about The VVitch (2015)? When it comes to the "New England folktale," we just couldn't shut up — and we guess that figures since this is Monica's favorite Spooky Tuesday yet. On our new episode, we're talking about sexy wood chopping, Game of Thrones, and an IRL demonic goat who stole the show on set.

Let the Right One In with Special Guest Lucé Tomlin-Brenner

The “Cinephile Cuties” are ready to decapitate our bullies. That’s because we’re chatting about Tomas Alfredson’s Let the Right One In. For our inaugural Halloween episode, we could not think of a better guest than the host of the year-round Halloween podcast It’s Always Halloween, Lucé Tomlin-Brenner! We spooky three discuss our own personal histories with the film. And, of course, we play “Fuck, Marry, Kill” with traditional horror characters. Plus, we put Let the Right One In through our proprietary “Fartsy Test.” Patrick recommends a drink pairing. And we give each other notes to improve the show. Listen in to see if it’s working!
