As the hugest surprise of the French legislative elections held on 12 and 19 June, Emmanuel Macron’s centrist party coalition Ensemble failed to ensure an absolute majority in the National Assembly. In the meantime, the left-wing alliance NUPES – led by Jean-Luc Mélenchon – was able to deliver a better than expected result with 31.6 percent of the votes and 131 seats from the available 577 in the National Assembly. Similarly, Marine Le Pen’s populist right-wing Rassemblement National achieved a historical success with more than 17 percent and 89 seats. Thibaud Gibelin, visiting fellow at the MCC stressed that Macron is having a hard time because he has to negotiate beyond party blocs to create a majority. After his win in the presidential elections in April, he campaigned with massive confidence, which could raise some antipathy among voters. The researcher argues that Macron will likely be able to ensure a majority with votes from right-wing republicans (even if not in an official coalition, but in the form of ad hoc external support). However, Macron and the thus supporting MPs and party will surely pay the political price of such support. Even if he can avoid cohabitation, the re-elected president will have a tough term, because voters expect the improvement of public security and the economic situation. And the latter is going to be extremely difficult seeing the current economic developments in both Europe and the world. Szabolcs Janik, researcher of the Centre for Political Science at MCC talked with Thibaud Gibelin in the latest Votes & Seats podcast.

Over the last 10 years, David has completed over 50 triathlons, including 15 Ironman-distance triathlons (2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike, 26.2-mile run), more than 50 runs longer than marathon distance, including several 24-hour runs, running 85 miles in Mexico in the heat of the summer, running 104 miles straight from Santa Barbara to Manhattan Beach, and most recently biking 4,700-miles in just six weeks as he met with the participants of his upcoming book exploring the emotional side of cancer.

As a former sedentary, over-weight, smoker, David knew that he needed to focus not on what others wanted out of him, but on what he wanted out of life. Through lessons learned in business and sport, David introduces the concept of the “middle of the pack” and discusses how to get more out of ourselves than ever imagined. He applies this concept to life and business and adds value to the people he works with coming from the perspective of the “middle of the pack.”

David was born in Miami and raised mostly in the Los Angeles area. He and his wife split their time between homes in Southern California and Southern Nevada. He has worked in real estate, lending, construction, started both an animation company and a skin care company, and then went into financial services. He has college-aged twins who are as aspirational as their father. After losing his sister to brain cancer, David has organized a yearly fundraiser in her memory, the most recent being the impetus for his upcoming book, Cycle of Lives – 15 People’s Stories, 5,000 Miles, and a Journey Through the Emotional Chaos of Cancer.

Stefan erhielt mit 42 die Diagnose Typ-2-Diabetes. Sein Nüchternblutzucker lag bei 300 und sein HbA1C-Wert bei 11,5. Außerdem waren seine Testosteronwerte im Keller. 

Er sollte Metformin einnehmen und wurde in die Diabetesberatung geschickt. Dort wurde dann die Verwendung von Süßstoff empfohlen. Außerdem war eine Beraterin selbst diabetisch seit 15 Jahren und auf Medikamente angewiesen. Relativ bald fiel ihm dann auch auf, dass die Grenzwerte, nach denen man als Diabetiker eingestuft wird, von Bundesland zu Bundesland unterschiedlich ist. Da begann bei ihm auch die Recherche und er kam auf LowCarb, Keto und später auch auf Carnivore. Er wurde skeptisch, dass die Schulmedizin nur Medikamente als Lösung gegen den Diabetes vorschlagen konnte. Seine Werte besserten sich sehr stark, aber auch dieser unheimlichen Verbesserung schenkten die Ärzte nur wenig Beachtung und priesen weiterhin die medikamentöse Behandlung als die einzig wahre an.

Stefan ist aber auch heute der Ansicht, dass die Normwerte für den Nüchternblutzucker, den Blutdruck oder das Cholesterin viel zu streng sind. Sie wurden mit der Zeit immer weiter herabgesetzt, damit möglichst früh Medikamente verschrieben werden können. Auch dass diese Normwerte nicht abhängig vom Alter der betroffenen Person und deren Gewicht fesgelegt werden, ist fragwürdig.

Zu Carnivore kam Stefan etwas mit Gespür. Er fand einfach heraus, dass Gemüse seinem Verdauungssystem nicht gut tut. Anschließend fand er dann auch alles über die darin enthaltenen Giftstoffe heraus. 

Stefan isst gerne Geflügelinnereien, aber beim Fleisch hält er sich lieber an rotes Fleisch.

Durch seine Ernährungsumstellung hat sich sein Blutdruck normalisiert, seine chronische Bronchitis ist weg, seine Nüchternblutzuckerwerte sind extrem gesunken, auch sein HbA1C, seine Fettleber ist verschwunden.
