    Episode 243 - A First-timer's WDW trip report Prt 1.

Happy New Year!! We kick off 2018 with our first episode of the year on our new release format. It’s Monday and that means it’s our feature discussion show. This week we are featuring part 1 of a two-part discussion we had with Jonathan’s good friends Jen and Lindsay, who recently took their first trip to Walt Disney World with Jonathan. We’ll talk about their first impressions of the theme parks, what challenges they faced, and what it was like touring the parks for the first time with a seasoned park-touring pro. We had a great time hearing about their experiences and there is no way to squeeze it all into one show. So, we’ll air part 2 of their trip report discussion as our next feature discussion episode on Monday January 8th.

If you would like to contact the show, become an official All About the Mouseketeer, or submit your phone number to us for a Mouse Call, send us an email to podcast@aatmcentral.com.

Enjoy this week’s featured discussion episode and don’t forget about the Disney news episode on Wednesday Jan 3rd.

Ep 173: Science... sort of - Steel Bodies In Motion

Ep 173: Science... sort of - Steel Bodies In Motion

00:00:00 - Scientists are now using old government drones to monitor volcano activity in Costa Rica. Thus we bring together our resident engineer, Jacob, and fan-favorite Latin American volcanologist, Abe, to discuss this new cool use of technology.

00:17:53 - Drinks can keep you cool and refreshed when near a volcano. Abe has a Meantime Coffee Porter, Ben slurps some Korean plum juice, and Jacob overstates his Dos Equis Amber. Ryan concocts a mint julep, complete with muddler.

00:26:38 - Ben writes papers about him, Abe is an immigrant like him, Jacob helps people fly like him, and Ryan just loves him; all of which is discussed in this week's Trailer Trash Talk of Man of Steel.

00:52:01 - The 3-body problem does not describe a love triangle, it's actually a physics thing. The timer duck comes out for Ben to tell us all about some new solutions to this old problem.

01:08:03 - PaleoPOWs are a lot like physics problems, hard to understand and with ambiguous solutions. Abe rereads an e-mail from Blair H. down in Antarctica, but Blair also sent us a donation which is awesome. Thanks, Blair! Ryan has a donation as well from Wade W. who also wants us to know that he's heading back to school thanks in part to Episode 110 - Back to School. Congrats on the renewed education and thanks for the cash! Jacob takes Ben to task with a voicemail from Tim in Gillette, WY. And finally, Randall H. wants answer to just how long a straw needs to be for it to foil even Superman. Ben answers... sort of.

Thanks for listening and be sure to check out the Brachiolope Media Network for more great science podcasts!

    162: Sci Fi Soulmates

    162: Sci Fi Soulmates

    Movie Meltdown - Episode 162

The gang is back! And this week we kick things off with a War Horse battle straight from the trenches! (Watch out for the barbed wire) Then we dive right into this week's Sofa Theater feature - TiMER. Can this slightly sci fi movie enlighten us on the futuristic ways of finding your soulmate. Or will some of us have issues with the science involved.. or lack thereof? What results is a great group discussion. Plus we feature a One From the Vaults segment from the star of the movie Emma Caulfield. Where we hear her thoughts on the general themes addressed in the film.

And somewhere amidst all this we also mention... foley art, Guy Maddin, peering in my neighbor’s window, Ibsen's “A Doll's House, theater of the mind, Vintage Thunderbird, Seinfeld, Bryan’s Misty impression, Weekly Reader lies, Stranger Then Fiction,  Apu and his wife, Juno, lost your privileges, diminishing returns, Manhattan, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Another Earth, being rapturously in love with horses, Party Down, Tex Arvery’s House of the Future, oh my god, that plot makes me want to smash things!!, Brand Upon the Brain, making a romantic comedy about monkeys, Up in the Air, freak accidents, Unbreakable, SpongeBob SquarePants, people used to be spherical, I didn’t start dating until I’d been married for five years, If you don’t feel something is missing - there’s something wrong with you, it struck me that the concept of love seemed to - not matter, and only our show would find a way to thematically tie this film to Power Rangers, The Simpsons and That’s so Raven.

Spoiler Alert: We reveal the major plot points and the ending of this week's movie TiMER. Oh yeah and we totally spoil Old Yeller and The Mist along the way. So beware of those moments...

"The central science fiction metaphor, is not a metaphor for something in life, it’s a metaphor for something that exists in romantic comedies.”
