It was March 19th, 1990 and Depeche Mode took the world by storm with their 7th studio album. They had been around for over a decade but they finally broke into the mainstream thanks to massive singles like Personal Jesus and Enjoy the Silence. In fact, Depeche Mode were so popular that they inadvertently incited a riot. Join me at this look at Depeche Mode's classic album Violator.

The Replacements hit the top spot again with their lead single from their 1990 release All Shook Down. The track is Merry Go Round and saw the band take a tamer and more radio friendly approach. It went to #1 on October 13, 1990 for the first of 4 non consecutive weeks.

This song went to #1 for 2 weeks on September 29, 1990 and then back to #1 for another week on October 20, 1990. It marked a shift for the band back into guitar based music after dabbling with synthesizers for years prior.
