The Week... Rishi Sunak has a Suella Braverman conundrum
Two of Westminster's best-connected journalists, Sky News's Sam Coates and Politico's Jack Blanchard, guide us through their predictions of how British politics will play out over the next seven days.

In this episode, they look ahead to what could be the biggest week of Rishi Sunak's premiership so far. The prime minister is set to resolve a conundrum about the future of his home secretary, Suella Braverman, which could potentially trigger a cabinet reshuffle.

Plus, the Supreme Court is set to announce its judgment of the legality of the government's Rwanda policy – not to mention monthly inflation figures and Liz Truss.

On this episode, they look ahead to the King's Speech - the first since Charles became monarch and Rishi Sunak became prime minister. And they share some expert intel from Sky's royal commentator Alistair Bruce, the man who leads the sovereign procession and sets the pace for the King.

Plus, the COVID inquiry continues after a dramatic week, with testimony from Sir Mark Sedwill, the former chief whip, Lord Lister, who was Boris Johnson' s aide, and Priti Patel, the former home secretary.

In Manchester, So Much To Answer For
If Rishi Sunak hoped the Tory conference might be a gathering of friendly faces he must be very disappointed. The constant HS2 controversy is bogging him down and he’s witnessing rivals pitch to replace him already… Plus, while the Conservatives fall apart, Labour aren’t without their wobbles. Is Starmer too quickly knocked off course when the media turns nasty?  “There is a sense that the right-wingers are on the front foot, and that the one nation Tories are taking a back seat.” – Ros Taylor  “The Tory leadership is already underway. They’re expecting to lose, they’re expecting Sunak to be out, they’re on manoeuvres.” – Seth Thévoz  “This is not about policy, it’s about headlines. Will the indictments actually help Donald Trump?

Will the indictments actually help Donald Trump?

Donald Trump was indicted for a third time this week and a fourth is on the way. He emerged from a DC courthouse this week actually inviting more - he thinks it's helping him, feeding into a long-established persecution complex which he feels will been a key asset in his bid to be re-elected.

In this episode, we ask a simple question: is he right? And is he right everywhere? If it is helping him secure the Republican nomination, will all this actually end up hurting his chances of obtaining the thing he truly craves - the presidency itself?

And in the latest of our extended political conversations Lewis talks to Labour peer and refugee champion Lord Alf Dubbs about a political life which stretches back to Clement Attlee and Nazi-occupied Prague.
