    The Waifs tour diary

    The Waifs tour diary

The Waifs are one of those bands many of us have a connection with. It felt like they came up as we came of age, the soundtracks to our own first adventures and a band with a loyal live following. Three albums into their career this steadfastly independent band broke through with ‘Up All Night’. It was helped by the juggernaut single “London Still”, which managed to capture a quintessentially Australian experience perfectly.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of that moment, the band are back in the tour van and doing what they do best; trekking to all corners of Australia to sing their stories.

And oh boy, are they good at telling stories. It’s why I asked them to Take 5. Josh and Vikki are about to transport you back to the first seeds of their band, to dingy motels in the States, and to the very heart of why we love them so much.

    • Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here
    • First Aid Kit – Emmylou
    • Creedence Clearwater Revival – Lodi
    • Aretha Franklin – Say a Little Prayer
    • Paul Kelly – To Her Door

    Tough And Deadly

    Ep 046 - Tips on Managing Binge-Watching

    Ep 046 - Tips on Managing Binge-Watching

Most of us have probably stayed up far beyond our regular bedtime at some point to watch one more episode of that new show.  Everyone's been talking about that new show and you finally checked it out. Before you know it, you are watching one episode after the other, and it seems you can barely manage to turn it off.

Based on several studies I provide in this episode, binge-watching seems to be highly common and popular thanks to streaming services and never-ending content that's readily available online. Whether it's binge-watching, scrolling on your phone for hours at night, gaming or watching one video after the next one, you might hit a point where you are starting to feel some physical or mental effects.

Check out this episode for tips on how to manage binge-watching, so watching your favorite shows stays an enjoyable experience and will not leave you drained, exhausted, and sleep-deprived.

As usual, I'm ending this podcast episode with a bedtime story. If you want to jump ahead, the story starts at around the 35 minute mark.

As we are getting close to 50 episodes and I'm looking forward to celebrating this special milestone with you, if you are enjoying this podcast but have not left a review yet, please do so on apple podcast or you can send it to me directly at anna@nomoresleepless.com. You can also send me a direct message on Instagram at anna_nomoresleepless.
I truly appreciate you and your continuous support.

    Have a good night!

Kill By Kill After Dark - Silk Stalkings (w/ Michael Varrati)

Kill By Kill After Dark - Silk Stalkings (w/ Michael Varrati)

What better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than Sexy Murder? On a special bonus episode of Kill By Kill: After Dark, we're talking about the Crimetime After Primetime classic, Silk Stalkings (Season 3, Episode 11), which also guest stars Up All Night host Rhonda Shear! Here to help us put the cuffs on is Returning Champion Michael Varrati!! Suit up in your most garish color combos as we explore the seedy, sexy underbelly of Palm Beach/San Diego, Florida, on the hunt for a killer cop, a neon-infused workplace rife with sexual harassment, a coroner who gives stiffs boners, a cop bar with a very fruit-forward drink menu, a mock turtleneck, and a "Lipshitz Fit." Plus, we make some wild speculation about what Sgt. Rita Lee Lance & Chris Lorenzo do off the clock, tarantulas on silk sheets, and why Silk Stalkings loved horror movie actors. This episode is... arresting! It's also very funny, but mostly it's full of cop puns.

Brown clouds, injured neurons, acupuncture... - 09.01.29 Breaking Science

Brown clouds, injured neurons, acupuncture... - 09.01.29 Breaking Science
We explore the discovery of a gene that triggers nerve repair; research showing that 'fake' acupuncture has the same pain relief effect as real acupuncture; how the analysis of brown clouds over East Asia shows the main culprit to be burning biomass; how the discovery of an 18 million-year-old fossil challenges the theory of when New Zealand was undersea; why DNA previously thought to be "junk" isn't; how the study of the genetic variations in stomach bacteria describe human migration. Plus in 'Stuff and Non-Science', does watching TV really make you short-sighted?
