Flag Does Not Freedom without Sports

Flag Does Not Freedom without Sports

The return of TV to the podcast prompts EstoBro to reward him for a fully tailored sports program, and it starts with the epic disaster that featured Zion Williamson and his mistress that was former adult film star Moriah Mills (2:00). The hilarity of the basketball drama spills over post the cold opening that indeed TV is ok after watching his Miami Heat lose in the NBA Finals to the Denver Nuggets (12:45). A well-deserved first franchise title to Mile High only means that the subsequent two events occur for the NBA: the draft and free agency, where the Gents break down the events that have carried on so far. With July rolling in, we are halfway through the regular baseball season in the MLB (30:15), and EstoBro has a full report on why you should be watching. The details include possible Shoehei Ohtani rumors of testing free agency, what Tampa Bay Rays made the All-Star (post the release of this episode, Wander Franco was selected as an injury replacement for the American League), and who is leading each division respectively as the hosts pick favorites for the playoffs. Enough time has passed and the Gents also wanted to shed light on the merger between the PGA and LIV Golf Tour (57:45). As much as this is controversial to the American golf fan, this opens up the opportunity for golf to become a more respected game internationally rather than an elitist club reserved for the rich. Sports episodes are certainly better than having smaller segments for each episode. If this works out, we might be dropping a monthly sports segment rather than discussing what is going on in the sporting world. We're fans too, ya know? Like, listen, subscribe, and share the show with fellow sports fans, especially the one's that like to talk about everything we discuss on the program!

Book of Joe: When good teams go bad!

The Book of Joe Podcast begins with how managers handle the dog days of summer. Hosts Tom Verducci and Joe Maddon address the Rays benching Wander Franco and the recent struggles of the Yankees.  We explore Joe's insight into having team meetings and when is the right time to truly benefit the players.  Tom is puzzled by the struggles of the Mets and what can be changed to turn things around.  Plus, it's 4th of July Weekend and Joe gives his West Coast to East Coast music recommendations for the BBQ! If you're in the Hazleton, PA and want a taste of what Joe's serving, find the Madden sauces in some local retailers!

Pack the Brew: Wander Franco BENCHED, All Star Voting Update

Rays shock us all by benching Wander Franco for "bad behavior", is it a concern for Ray fans? 2 players have locked in their starting spots for the 2023 ASG, which other ones are leading their position, do they deserve it? Mets sold one of their key players going into the season, is this a sign to come? We discuss these and so much more on this episode of Pack the Brew!

Patti and the Pottymouth reveal their Fantasy Boyfriend Baseball rosters for the new season, backing up their selections with references to Wardle vs Wordle strategies, adult beverages, philanthropy, children, and cars. So that tracks. Sticky stuff is back, bringing a new level of awkward to umpire duties. NYC caves to the sports lobby and rolls back a vaccine mandate, while Toronto fans tell unvaxxed players on US teams where to put their accusations of competitive imbalance. The Red Sox hold the line and Trevor Story makes a good choice. Pottymouth highlights women’s baseball in Pakistan, Malaysia, and Venezuela. UK Women go to France, and Australian women go to the finals. How about the view from this ballpark, setting the record for game played at highest elevation? Bernie Sanders wants to Save American Baseball from the whims of billionaire owners and we were with him even before he said “oligarch.” We say “hogwashy,” “if she says so, it IS so,” “back up articulation,” and refer to the Blue Jays as “that other bird.”

Ideally, You Have an Adult Beverage in One Hand

Cheers to the end of the lockout, the beginning of spring training, and finally an Opening Day countdown. Patti walks you through the new CBA agreement including the rule changes, the Police Blotter feels like old times, and Pottymouth suffers the first bitter breakup of the current boyfriend season. We celebrate Pottymouth’s restraint in having saved Wander Franco until this year as her Ray’s pick, while Patti chooses dancemaster Ji-man Choi. With the matchmaking skills of our West Coast Correspondent, Pottymouth is set up, maybe too soon, with Heliot Ramos of the Giants, and Patti looks forward to CupCheck and crosswords with Curt Casali. Hamate surgery rears its ugly head but could lead to superpowers for CPBL boyfriend Lin An-Ko.

We say “Ukraine strong,” “99 bottles of beer on the wall,” and “pour one out for the DH.”

Giants got blown out by Bucs 30-10 on MNF.  Bucs should have scored 50.   Today Giants OC Jason Garrett was let go.  Giants are 3-7 and in last place in the NFC East.   Give Eric Bieniemy a shot at the title.
RJ Barrett trademarked "RJB" and "Made Different."  Should be focused on basketball in my opinion.
Penn State signed James Franklin to a ten year contract extension.
Wander Franco is 20 years old and now a very rich man.   Reportedly signing a 12 year contract in excess of $180M.
